Chapter 42

I woke up one night when I suddenly heard crying from the other room. I immediately got up and checked what time it was.

One o'clock in the morning…

I quickly went to my mother's room. It was dark there so I stumbled before finally sitting on the edge of her bed. I felt the lampshade and turned on its light. I immediately got nervous when I saw my mother crying.

"Mom," I called her while squeezing her cold and trembling hand. "Mommy, wake up," I said while caressing her cheek. I wiped her tears even though they continued. "Mom. Mommy, wake up."

She tossed back and looked like she was catching her breath when she finally woke up. She continued to cry until she turned to me. That's how she whined when she saw me. She hugged both her knees and headed there. She let her crying continue again while I didn't know what to do.

"Mom..." I called her. "Mom, you're having a nightmare.." I said and then guided her head to rest on my shoulder so that she could cry there as long as she wanted
