Chapter 4 - Speak of the devil.

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping, and realized that I had been so busy yesterday with moving everything, that I must have passed out, since I did not attend the pack dinner. What I couldn’t wrap my head around, was the fact that I had been covered up with a blanket. The thing is, I did not get a blanket. I had just passed out, so who was it?

I decided not to dwindle on the thought for too long, as my stomach was basically screaming at me for food. I could smell that the chef had prepared some eggs and bacon for the morning, along with a bunch of other things.

I hopped into the shower, and I turned the water on to a very warm temperature. I needed to relax, I was overworking myself to not think about the recent incident with my ex-mate. Not to mention this whole elaborate plan I had been cooking up for the past few days to get my revenge.

I had no idea what to do anymore, except keep on seducing the Alpha until he is mine? He was so stubborn though! How was I supposed to seduce him, and take my revenge on his b@stard son?

I finished my shower, and got dressed before heading downstairs to see what fate had awaited me. I was nearly to the kitchen when I heard Zayn speak up behind me as he grabbed my wrist and turned me around to face him.

“Where were you yesterday? I did not see you at supper.” He stated, his eyes trailing down to my lips, and back up to meet my eyes again.

“I seem to have lost track of time, and I passed out, sorry Alpha, it won’t happen again.” I stated, watching him bite down on his lower lip.

“It’s fine, just do not do it again, you also need to eat, and I was starting to get a little worried about you.” He stated, and I found myself inching closer, it was as if my body had moved on its own accord. I leaned in closer, standing on the tips of my toes to reach him, and he leaned his head down slowly. I closed my eyes ready for my long-awaited reward, but just as luck would have it his Beta came rushing down the stairs, startling the both of us.

“Hey there Alice! Where were ya yesterday? We were all starting to get a little bit worried yeah?” Bryce commented, and he was sweet at heart, but he was a little bit too goofy for my liking. He was more like an older brother to me, and he would do anything to keep me safe.

“Just had a lot of stuff to unpack, I guess I must have missed the time, and fallen asleep. It won’t happen again, I promise.” I stated, giving him a soft, reassuring smile.

“Ya better not break yer promise.” He stated, causing me to giggle at his accent, it suited him well.

“I won’t.” I stated, and he nodded, and turned to Zayn, telling him that he needed to talk to him in his office after breakfast was over.

He left for the kitchen, presumably to go get his portion of food for the morning, and I found myself looking up at Zayn. He stared at me in disbelief and shock, before his expression turned back into his usual poker face.

“I will be leaving as well, please get something to eat, and don’t bother me again.” He stated, and I wanted to put him in his place, but he was already gone by the time I wanted to go on a rant about how he was the one that had bothered me.

I rolled my eyes, before heading into the kitchen, and I could feel the hunger from last night catching up with me. I grabbed a plate, and filled it with food before walking to the pack’s dining room. I have to admit it was rather large, and I knew it must have cost an entire fortune to build this place, as it was built like a mansion, maybe even bigger.

I ate my breakfast in silence when Tristan and Kaitlyn made their usual appearance. I ignored them and plugged my headphones into my phone, scrolling to find some music to drown out my sister’s annoyingly whiny voice.

I finished eating, and never once took out my headphones, completely ignoring their existence. I washed my plate and put it away when I decided to go for a walk in the surrounding forest.

I put my music on as loud as I could, and found myself starting to jog along the trail towards the forest. I jogged for a couple of minutes, before breaking into a full-on sprint, running as fast as I could. And after about an hour, I finally came to a stop to catch my breath.

I walked along the treelines, and I could hear the waterfall leading into a river close by. That is when I decided to do a little skinny-dipping, it was not like anyone was going to come here all of a sudden, so I undressed, and looked down at the bottom of the cliff I was currently standing on.

I backed away, and ran as fast as I could, jumping off of the ledge, and into the water below. Laughter filled the air, and I finally felt like I could breathe.

I swam around in the river below, luckily the current was not too strong today, and I could swim with no problem. Hopefully no one found me like this, because it would be kind of embarrassing to explain.

I was about to get out and head back home when I heard voices coming from the distance, and I knew that if someone were to catch me now, that it would be a very uncomfortable situation.

“Yo bro, whose clothes are these?!” That is when I recognized the voice, it had belonged to none other than Bryce. I was so never going to live this down. I tried swimming away, and hid behind a rock, and then I heard another the other guy answering him.

“I do not know, but who cares? I don’t see anyone else here, so let’s go cool off.” It was Zayn! Oh my gosh, I was doomed!

Hold on… What is that smell? It smelt like sandalwood and vanilla, mixed with tobacco and musk. The scent was intoxicating, and I found myself drawling. I knew it was one of them, but I could not move from this spot!

“Hey, do you smell that?” I heard Zayn speak up, and I blushed trying to calm my fast-beating heart down.

“Smell what bro?” Bryce answered, and I could hear someone swimming closer.

“It’s coming from this direction, and it smells so good, like Citrus and Petrichor.” He stated, getting closer, at this point he was around the corner of the rock I was hiding behind. Well sh*t…!
