CADEN'S POV

I stood quietly in the shadows watching Tyrion still frozen. Then finally the guy from Firstfell pack grunted with relief as his seed spilled into his mouth and I watched him swallow.

I should have looked away. Should have left the moment I realized what was happening. But I couldn't. Something kept me rooted in place, watching every movement, every expression on Tyrion's face. The way he'd taken control, the confidence in his movements, the satisfaction in his eyes afterward.

The other guy stood up, did his pants and walked out while Tyrion stood there with a satisfied smirk, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

Then I finally came out of the shadows between the decorative bushes, "Alpha Bastian's beloved son is a cocksucker? What an amazing discovery and turn of events." I taunted getting closer.

He gave me a cool stare that showed me he was unaffected by my words.

I hated Tyrion, he was another guy in the pack girls liked but he kept his distance and I always thought it was to show how more controlled and better than me he was. The epitome of my uncle's teaching and the worst thing is he isn't even his real son. Just some bastard he took care of.

But watching him now, seeing this side of him that no one else knew about, I felt something twist in my chest. It wasn't just hate anymore. It was something more complicated, something that made my skin feel too tight and my pulse race in ways I didn't want to examine.

"And you watched a cocksucker suck a cock for more than necessary Caden. So tell me Caden? Why did you watch me?" He said raising a brow at me.

The question struck an agitated nerve in me as the question spiraled in my head.

Why had I watched?

My heart beat out loudly in my chest as his words came haunting in my mind. What the fuck was this bastard implying?

"I'm not like you bastard," I spat out.

Tyrion rolled his eyes and shrugged, "I never said that but now you got me wondering why you did but unfortunately I'm not so curious about you that I'd waste my time here wanting answers." He said as he tried making his way past the cluster of bushes toward the ceremony grounds.

I grabbed his shoulders roughly and turned him to face me.

"Where do you think you're going? Want me to go out there and tell everyone about what just happened?"

I saw the fear flash before his eyes before he hid it, I wanted to feel triumphant like I would usually do but it didn't come.

I brushed the feeling of what tasted like guilt away as I got down to business. Feeling petty emotions like that is weakness, if I was weak then I'd end up like my parents, dead and forgotten.

"You're fucking cruel Caden and you'll get what you deserve. Just tell me what you want, I don't have time for your twisted games." He spat out.

His words felt like acid forced down my throat.

"Now, you're talking. You're going to do everything I fucking tell you. My little spy and my puppet," I said coldly.

Tyrion looked at me giving me a death glare, "Whatever. You know where to find me. I'm going to do this but do not expect that everything you ask will be obliged," he said looking at me before his eyes wandered down below my waist then landing on my cock.

My eyes flew wide as the meaning of what he just said hit me, "I'd never—"

"Never say never Caden," He smirked walking away and I felt like I'd just been caught in my own trap.

I heard a voice call for us to gather to listen to the king's verdict as I made my way back toward the ceremony area.

As I made my way back in, the warm glow of the hanging lanterns casting light across the mingling crowd, my eyes caught Gretchen and then Maeve looking fine.

I grunted realizing things hadn't gone as planned but I felt safe because there's no evidence of my plot. Something must have occurred.

Maybe if I wasn't so preoccupied with watching Tyrion I could have gotten things back on track.

Instinctively, my eyes scanned for Tyrion and I saw him holding a glass of wine talking to the guy from earlier like nothing had happened and I felt irritated.

I wanted this ceremony to be over as soon as possible so I could finally get my title as Alpha.

Prince Riven climbed up the elevated platform decorated with royal banners about to give the announcement.

"The King thanks each and every pack for their contribution to the great kingdom of Valeria. He has seen your dedication and has decided to reward that by letting each strong and prestigious member from the pack come join The Blood Moon Academy. Those who graduate with the best results would be privileged to serve in the Royal Lycan Court. This has been carefully thought by the king as a way to train the future generation to be exceptional."

Some erupted in cheers while others stood frozen in shock. Top families from Firstfell and Stonewell pack didn't look surprised, in fact they looked expectant.

I was completely taken aback by this sudden news. The Blood Moon Academy? I'd heard whispers about it - an elite training ground for future court members, but I thought it was just rumors.

Then I saw Alpha Bastian across from me with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

The bastard knew. Wait does that mean he knowingly kept this from me? He wants to ship me off to this bloody academy so he would continue being Alpha while I'm learning what exactly?

This felt like exile disguised as honor. A way to get me out of his hair while he consolidated power. The thought made my blood boil.

Bullshit, just bullshit.

My eyes hardened with anger.

Then I heard Riven continue, "The following names are chosen to come study at the Academy."

He started listing names from each pack starting from Firstfell and I saw him call Tyrion's buddy from earlier and then finally he got to Grimwell.

"Caden Gallen, Kaiya Wilson, Gretchen Everton

....and finally…." I wondered who else could qualify to be here and then I got the shock of my life.

"Maeve Edgar."

MAEVE'S POVI watched as Dalia looked at me with a hopeful and needy expression, for once she looked at me like I actually mattered, like I'm not some charity case."Why aren't you saying anything? Maeve tell me you're taking me right now, stop trying to play pranks." She said her voice twinged with hope.My eyes dashed to Nyla beside me, she didn't say anything in fact she was smiling."The Queen Bee now wants help? What have you done for Maeve? Like the prince said she should take someone who has her back but you Dalia, you do not care about her. You've been watching how she has been abused in this pack by your playboy and his little terror group but say nothing. And now you're worthy of becoming her selected partner?" Nyla sneered.Dalia's eyes flashed with anger, she couldn't dare hit Nyla. She was just a common pack member with no sort of power without Caden. It was telling she rushed here to meet me without going to him. I think deep down she knows she's being played and not val

MAEVE'S POV"What!""Did I just hear that right?"I and Nyla said at the same time, I couldn't believe it. I stared at the prince hoping to get an answer if I searched enough but I ended up with nothing.Around us, the ceremony grounds erupted into chaos. People were whispering furiously, some looking shocked, others outraged. I could feel dozens of eyes on me, some curious, most hostile."Why would that thing be invited?" Gretchen burst out as the rest of the pack murmured with agreement but still cautious enough not to be loud about it because they knew not to go against a prince.I saw Caden across the crowd, his face a mask of fury and disbelief. His hands were clenched into fists at his sides, and for a moment I thought he might actually challenge the prince's decision right here in front of everyone."Maeve is the daughter of the leader of Grimwell's pack rank one warrior, why shouldn't she be there? And besides are you questioning me?" Riven said staring at her coldly as if dar

MAEVE'S POVI gulped down nervously as I realized he knew I was giving him half truths.I gambled on whether to stand firm on my decision or if I should give him the whole truth and I decided on the former."Fine. I plan on finding an escape plan on the way to the Castle. But I swear I wouldn't even say anything to anyone anyways. And it wasn't a lie just a part of the truth," I smiled innocently.Valoric looked at me like he couldn't wait to crush me and I shriveled away from his gaze, subtly placing myself closer to Prince Riven."I'm not agreeing to this," Riven said and I felt my heart sink. There's no way I could go against a prince even if I wanted to.I decided I'd find a way to leave myself, not caring if I was going to get caught, besides there's no reward without a certain amount of risks."And don't you dare think of leaving. I can see the wheels turning in that pretty head of yours. I won't let you leave." He commanded.Few beads of sweat formed against my temple as I proc

RIVEN'S POVI stopped, thanking the goddess that Valoric came in time to interrupt what I was about to do.I had been filled with the desire to satiate her need, her pleading tipped me over the edge when I had tried my best to restrain my own desires. The way she'd begged, the way her body had responded to mine - it had nearly broken every wall I'd built around my control. It wouldn't be wise to do this here and right now. My wolf wanted to ignore and continue…wanted to claim her completely, mark her as mine in every way possible, but I knew better. The ceremony was still happening, people could come looking, and she deserved better than a rushed claiming in a guest room.I gently took her off me, and headed to the door across the dimly lit room. I noticed she had started to regain herself but it took longer than the others. Usually after I stop feeding they go back to normal, but with her it wasn't so and it was a lot more intense."Took you long enough," I heard Valoric say as I u

MAEVE'S POVI watched as my blood flowed into his mouth, I must have been possessed or something. This wasn't part of the plan, I should have been long gone. Even though I got backtracked by being kidnapped, I should have fled immediately after he sent Gretchen scurrying away for her life. But I couldn't for some illogical and insane reason, I couldn't leave him like this, couldn't bear to see him in pain. So, after I help him, I'll disappear, that's the reason I kept telling myself as I watched him drink from my wrist.I didn't dare ask why he needed to feed on blood, didn't dare question it. Knowing too much never ends well especially for a nobody like me to a Lycan of his status. My thoughts were cut short, when I felt him grip my fingers and then his eyes snapped open. The silver that had been burning in them earlier had a ring of red around them—blood red.He took my wrist away from his mouth and tried to stand up but he staggered and I hurried to hold him."Have you had enough?"
