I sat back on the only sofa in the room where Mae was kept after she was brought back to me. I lifted a tumbler to my lips, it was partly filled with whiskey. As I sipped continuously from it, I kept my eyes on Mae. She should be awake and conscious anytime soon.

She squirmed and turned in the bed before sitting up. I watched her hold her head for some seconds before looking around to see where she was. Her eyes met mine when she looked in my direction. I smiled. It was humorous to catch the look on her face. It was a look that exposed how terrified she was to see me sitting in the room when she woke up.

"How bad is the headache? I'll ask someone to bring you some pills." I knew what she was injected with by my men before being brought here could cause a headache so I asked her.
