As I awoke to an empty bed, I checked the time on my phone. It was 12:34 p.m. I rubbed my eyes, cleared my sleep from them, and stretched out. Although, I’m still feeling weak, I didn’t feel as exhausted as before.I headed to the bathroom, washed up, and dressed. The house felt warm but there was no noise. As I entered the living room, there was no sign of Damian. Part of me started to wonder if I had dreamed of him coming over. I walked towards the kitchen and could hear a faint voice in the distance. The doctor returned a few hours later. It was a little before 1am, but I was discharged and free to go. All my tests had come back clear. I just needed rest and they agreed that I would be better off at home for that. Cleo called me a taxi while I was getting myself sorted and discharged. The abyss swallowed me up. I was curled up in the darkness, cradling myself. Tears flooding from my eyes, hollowness filling me up. It felt like I would be there forever.
