I hurried outside with the thought of giving Mike a sweet kiss. My intention was to repay him for his kind gesture, and I believed that the idea I had come up with was the most wonderful way to do so, but my plans were thwarted when I encountered Olivia on the way. I kept looking for Mike, hoping to see him in the house, but no sign of him.

“Calm down, my dear. He won’t let you. He’s just gone to help a friend. She called him and said it was urgent. Initially, he expressed the intention of notifying you himself, but I intervened and offered to communicate with you instead. He thanked me and left. He even made us breakfast.”

In a second, all joy turned to disappointment. A strange feeling came over me. I don’t know why, but I had a feeling that something was going to happen. Only my heart was telling me it wasn’t good. I grabbed my cup of coffee and retreated to one of the lounge chairs.

“Hon, he will come soon. Really! Don’t be sad. She loves you!” said Olivia, trying to reassur
