A witch? That can't be good.
My family and all of my best friends are here this weekend. I get to watch one of my best friends take his oath as Alpha of Canyon Ridge pack. As I watch Cohen stand and take his oath, I look beside me at Richie and further down to see Emerson. Our families have raised amazing Alphas. I’m so proud, my heart feels like it’s about to burst. “Baby girl, what’s on your mind?” Richie asks me through the mind link. He is very intune to changes in my emotions and they are all over the place right now. I feel a tear fall down my cheek. “I’m so proud of this next generation of Alphas. All three of you are so amazing.” Richie wraps his arms around my shoulders and pulls me to his chest, kissing the top of my head. “Thank you, baby girl. I think you’re pretty incredible too.” I stand and watch as every member of Canyon Ridge swears their allegiance to my friend. When it’s done, there is a lot of clapping, cheering and howling. As we walk into the party, I smell my father before his arm goes
Cohen, Emerson and I decide to have monthly Alpha meetings to discuss our packs, any issues that arise and our joint alliances. It feels good to finally have everyone in place, not that working with Uncle Eli and Uncle Rik was bad, it’s just that they were used to doing things a certain way. Now that the three of us have taken over, we can make the changes we want to make. Monthly meetings is just the start. I host the first one, partly because Cohen is still adjusting to his role as Alpha and partly so Emerson can see his sister. I know it was hard for him to let her leave to come to my pack and to feel the pack link snap when she officially joined my pack. They have always been close. I know he’ll be happy to see her. When he arrives, it’s Emlyn that greets him. Cayd and I walk into the kitchen and see them hugging. “Em and Em, back together again.” Cayd says. I smack him on the back of his head. “Show some respect to Safe Haven’s Alpha.” I say. “Yeah, idiot. That’s Alpha Em to
Today is the day that Richie is schedule to meet with the Alpha of the pack that he’s putting on notice, The Dark Moon Pack. Even though he hasn’t said it, I know he’s nervous. We’ve been together long enough that I can feel his emotions. Not only that, but he’s also distracted. For the first time since we’ve stayed the night together, he gets out of bed without wanting to be inside me. Normally in the mornings, I have to stop him from taking me every which way he can get me before our day officially starts. But today, he’s out of bed and heading for the shower before I’m even fully awake. I know he’s worried that things could go badly today. And if they do, this visiting Alpha will be here in the packhouse, putting the pack at risk. But I’m here, and I would never let that happen. Also, I made sure that Cayd would be in the packhouse today as well, just in case. I walk into Richie’s bathroom, watching him as he showers. This is another first. Richie has never taken a shower when I’m
As I walk into the kitchen, I hear Richie introducing Samuel and Aiden to Jackson and Cayd. They made a point to be waiting by Richie's office door, so Alpha Samuel would know that Richie isn’t the only ranked member in the packhouse. The meeting has been going on for an hour. Cayd is sitting in the living room watching TV. I walk in and sit down beside him, tuning into Richie’s office. I know it’s soundproofed, but if I listen hard enough, I can hear. Jackson comes out of the office and both mine and Cayd’s heads move to look at him. “Issue with the patrols.” Jackson says before shifting on his way out the back door. “Go, I’ve got this.” I tell Cayd as he runs to assist Jackson. It’s not long before I hear the shift in the conversation upstairs. I’m up and moving before I even think about it. I get to the office and knock twice before walking in. What I see has Morrigan pushing forward, her presence glowing in my eyes. The four of them have surrounded Richie’s desk and are taking
After dealing with the Alpha Samuel issue, scheduling a hearing with the council, and letting Emerson and Cohen know what happened, I can finally focus on Emlyn’s birthday. It is nearly here, and I want to do something special for her. After two years, she’ll finally recognize me as her mate. I’ve noticed that she wears a watch all the time. The one she has is utilitarian and while it’s functional, I’ve decided to get her a new one. The one I’ve decided on is gold colored with a link bracelet that she can be resized to fit to her small wrist. The face of the watch has two rows of diamonds around the rim and inside, rather than the numbers on the watch, there are diamonds, except for twelve o’clock. I wanted something elegant and beautiful to match my mate. Something that she can wear and always be reminded of this time together and the day she recognized me as her mate. Once I’ve chosen the watch, I take it to have it engraved. It’s about time You see What you mean To me It wil
The evening before my birthday, I say goodbye to Richie. I have mixed feelings about leaving. More and more, I’m confident that he’s my mate, but tomorrow will be the day. If he’s my mate, I still need to tell him that I’m pregnant with his child. If he’s not my mate, well, that conversation will be a whole lot worse. Either way, the conversation will have to take place soon. As Guardians and sons of Guardians, everyone in our families will be able to smell the child in less than a week. Richie took his time saying goodbye to me, making me feel special and letting me know he can’t wait to see me tomorrow. “Richie, what if…” “Shhh, none of that. Everything will be fine, Emlyn. I know it.” I left with my mixed feelings. When I get to Safe Haven, I’m greeted by my mother and sister. Leana agreed to meet up with us in the morning. My bedroom has been left untouched. I walk into my old room, feeling like a stranger in this space. This is no longer my home. My home is with Richie. Noth
I had been waiting all day to see Emlyn. It was torture, knowing she would finally see me as her mate. But when the moment came, and I saw her, Morrigan shining in her eyes, calling me her mate, I got the scent of patchouli. I didn’t even know I liked patchouli, but when I turned and saw her, I knew she was my mate. Without thinking, I moved to go to her. A hand reaches out and grabs me, stopping my forward motion. “What the actual fuck, Rich.” Xander snarls in my ear. “Is this a game, because it’s not funny.” I look and see the absolute pain and shock on Emlyn’s face. I don’t understand what’s going on, I was so sure she was my mate. Finley was sure. ‘Fin, what’s going on.’ ‘I don’t know. I….I thought she was our mate, but…this she-wolf is our mate.’ I see Aunt Grace take control as everyone in the party stands around watching the disaster unfold. “Riley, Leana, please see to the guests. Richard, Emlyn, what is your name dear?” She asks my mate. “Gwendolyn.” She says, her eyes
I feel sick, like I’m in a haze and all I want to do is go hide away and never return. But that is not what a Guardian does, and I will act every bit of the Guardian that I am tonight. I know my family and friends will surround me and support me. I have a moment after leaving the room, where I get a sharp, shooting pain in my chest, and I know that Richie must have kissed Gwen. Goddess help me, I won’t survive if he decides to mate with her. “I won’t leave your side tonight, Emlyn.” Emerson has become my lifeline at the moment. He’s grounding me and helping keep me sane and I know he will never let me embarrass myself or fall on my face. Add to that, while everyone may be gossiping behind my back about the events from earlier, no one would dare to say anything to my face with Emerson at my side. Before I make it back to the party, I am rushed by Millie and Tansy. “Lady Luna Emlyn. Lady Luna Emlyn.” I feel Emerson tense, but I pat his arm. Of all people, the sprites would never do
