Chapter 4

ผู้เขียน: Jinx
Xander's POV

I didn't reply to the text. Instead, I turned around and began sorting through everything Wendy and I had accumulated over the past ten years.

The vast rose garden that Wendy had personally planted for me, the hair tie she bought during one of our flea market trips, and even the photos we had taken together on our travels over the years—I destroyed everything connected to me, one by one.

Blaine sent me a live update every half hour, as if worried I wouldn't know my wife was with him.

When midnight struck, countless birthday wishes from relatives and friends flooded my phone. Only Wendy's was missing.

She hadn't forgotten. She was just too exhausted and had fallen asleep.

The next morning, before dawn broke, I blocked every number and account belonging to the two of them. Then I snapped my SIM card in half and threw it into the trash.

Finally, I set fire to the villa that had been filled with ten years of memories.

The flames soared into the sky, illuminating the road ahead of me.

All the photographs, clothes, and jewelry—even the emerald necklace Wendy had bought just yesterday—went up in flames, carrying with it all the love and resentment I had carried for ten years.

In the blink of an eye, everything was reduced to ashes.

From now on, Xander Fisher was dead—and Xander Lynch was reborn.

By the time I arrived at the airport, Emily had already sent a private jet to pick me up.

Before boarding my flight, I saw the news of the villa fire being broadcast live on a giant screen. I spotted Wendy, her face deathly pale.

She stood amid the ruins, on the verge of a breakdown, and kept repeating, "How did this happen? Why?"

She frantically asked the police and paramedics whether I was still alive, but they all stared at her like she was insane.

In the end, the police spoke up helplessly.

"Our condolences, Ms. Fisher. This fire was caused by a gas leak, and there were no casualties. Who is this Xander Fisher you keep mentioning?"

Ever since I married Wendy, she had kept me in that villa. And only now did I realize that, for ten years, I had willingly become her pampered househusband.

She didn't allow me to have contact with the opposite gender. Later, she even got jealous of people of the same gender.

So, not to mention making new friends, I didn't even have a neighbor to visit.

I took one last glance at the broadcast, then turned and headed for the gate.

Third-Person POV

Wendy never imagined a time would come when proving Xander's existence would be this difficult.

She gritted her teeth and checked the surveillance footage, only to be told the system had been hacked three days ago.

Still refusing to give up, Wendy used every connection she had to find Xander's whereabouts.

Five minutes later, her friend finally found a photo of him standing in front of a private jet, his back to the camera.

"I tried my best, Wendy. But seriously, how could your freeloader of a husband possibly afford a private jet?"

When Wendy saw the Lynch Group logo on the side of the jet, her face instantly went pale, and a thought surfaced in her mind.

Xander was about to become himself again. He didn't want her anymore.

At that moment, a button was pressed somewhere, and the sandalwood box that had been sitting in Wendy's car suddenly started blaring an alarm.

Unbeknownst to Wendy, Xander had placed a divorce agreement inside the box.

Wendy's hands trembled as she picked up the box, clutching it like a lifeline. "That's right! How could I have forgotten! Xander left me a gift!

"I knew it! He loves me! He hasn't abandoned me!"

Wendy, acting as if she had just been pardoned, carefully opened the sandalwood box.

Xander's POVThe cold glint of the blade illuminated Blaine's twisted, terrifying face. He looked like he'd been beaten countless times, and there wasn't a single patch of unbroken skin on his face or arms. What was even more horrifying was the tiny bundle strapped to his chest. It was shaped like a baby—and gave off the stench of a corpse. For the past six months, there had been no news of him at all. I even thought he had taken the child back to his hometown. But given his personality, he would never have let things go.I never imagined Wendy would keep him captive. Still, this was exactly the kind of thing that vicious woman would do.She was afraid Blaine would come after me, so from the day I left, she had locked him away.An adult could endure being imprisoned, but not an infant. The tip of the blade was only inches away when a thud rang out, and the blade sank into Wendy's chest. With Wendy taking the knife for me, paired with the resolute look in her eyes, I was instan

Xander's POVAfter cursing "psycho" under his breath, the man fled the scene at once.I had witnessed the whole thing from not far away.Back when Wendy went to business dinners, she would also encounter countless men throwing themselves at her.But she had always kept me by her side. When faced with all those temptations, she only ever had one answer."I have a husband."However, at some point, Wendy stopped taking me to her business dinners. She told me it was a gathering for businesspeople, and that they couldn't talk openly with her husband around. Thus, I could only wait at home for her every single day. I'd eat at that restaurant near the villa until I was sick of it and threw up.Occasionally, there were rumors about Wendy's affairs, or some man sending photos to provoke me.I couldn't bring myself to doubt her in the slightest. After all, Wendy's love had once made me trust her completely. My thoughts were interrupted by Wendy's fawning voice. "Xander, I've changed! I

Xander's POVIt wasn't until Kyra and I walked out the door that Wendy chased after us, desperately asking, "Xander, don't you miss the food I made for you?"I let out a sneer and said icily, "Miss it? Miss you using sugar instead of salt? Your burned heart-shaped eggs?"I think I might actually miss that restaurant near our house more."Every word felt like a slap in Wendy's face.I looked at her with disdain and said deliberately, "If you've got any sense, you'll get the hell out of my sight now."When she heard me tell her to leave, Wendy felt her heart clench. "Honey, how can you treat me like this?"She looked utterly defeated, staring at me as though I were some unfaithful bastard."Because I don't love you anymore," I retorted flatly. With that, I turned and left. But Wendy still wouldn't give up. "How can you just stop loving me like that? I know I was wrong! You didn't like Blaine, so I cut him out of my life! Why won't you forgive me?"Xander, please don't leave, o

Xander's POVOutside the window, drones had formed a few sentences."Xander, I miss you so much.""Honey, please stop being angry, okay?""As long as you forgive me, I'll do anything for you."I frowned at the display. Just then, an irritating voice sounded from behind us. "Xander, I finally found you!"My disgust toward Wendy hadn't diminished at all. Even just hearing her voice made me feel sick. When I turned and our eyes met, the smile on my face vanished completely.I didn't know how she had found me. Perhaps today's blind date with Kyra had caused my whereabouts to leak.I'd really thought I would never see her again for the rest of my life.Seeing the dark look on my face, Wendy asked cautiously, "Honey, can you give me one more chance?"I glanced at her and said expressionlessly, "Do you even deserve it?"At my words, the color drained from Wendy's face. In the past, I had never once said a harsh word to her. I had never even blamed or complained to her.Wendy grit

Third-Person POVBlaine was left standing there in a daze. He cried out in despair, "What? You're kicking us out?"Wendy, have you completely lost your mind? I've been with you for years, and now you're abandoning me just like that?"…Xander's POVAfter getting off the plane, Emily immediately rushed over and hugged me tightly."Xander, you finally came to your senses! I've taken good care of everything your parents left you."My mother had passed away when I was young, and Emily had always played the role of a mother to me.However, back then, my father had refused to marry Emily. It was only at my request that he finally agreed to marry her.Emily had immediately signed a prenuptial agreement, saying that she would never take a single cent from the Lynch family. She also added that, even after becoming my stepmother, she would never force me to call her "Mom".She said I already had a mother of my own, and that such a sacred title should be respected. But what touched me

Third-Person POVThe moment Wendy saw what was inside the box, she froze as though she'd been struck by lightning.A second later, she curled in on herself and instinctively shuffled back slightly. She didn't dare touch it. Even looking at it seemed to terrify her.It was as though the box contained some monstrous beast ready to devour her whole. After a long silence, Wendy suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood and let out a hoarse yell."No, Xander wouldn't leave me! It's all fake!"She gritted her teeth and furiously stuffed everything back into the box, then hurled it far away. Then, before she could react, the mechanism inside the box was triggered, and the entire box burst into flames in an instant.Amid the flames, Wendy belatedly realized that the sandalwood box was the last thing Xander had left behind for her.She scrambled toward it, desperately trying to put out the fire. But it was already too late.In the blink of an eye, the last thing in this world that conne
