Killian’s POV

The news anchor’s voice echoed through my office, calm and cheerful, as though her words weren’t stabbing at me.

“A groundbreaking launch that has already taken the market by storm. Serena Calloway has unveiled her company's latest innovation, which within hours broke sales records and is already being called a game-changer in the industry…”

I clenched my jaw, my fist tightening on the remote before I hurled it across the room. It smashed against the wall with a sharp crack, the sound making my assistant flinch. She had been standing quietly by the door, but now she lowered her head further.

“Turn it off,” I snapped, but the screen kept showing Serena’s smiling face, Adrien beside her, both of them being applauded.

My secretary hurried forward, fumbling with the controls until the room went dark again. Only silence and my heavy breathing filled the air.

For years, I had ruled this market. Every launch I made was praised, every investor fought for my attention, every comp

Serena’s POVThe office felt almost peaceful this morning. For the first time in weeks, there were no alerts, no panicked calls, and no urgent emails demanding immediate responses. I walked through the workspace, noting the subtle but visible relief on my team’s faces. Bridget was already at her desk, checking updates, and Eliza was reviewing the analytics for the day.“Ma’am, it’s quiet,” Bridget said, approaching me cautiously. “The leaks have stopped.”I raised an eyebrow, keeping my expression calm. “Stop? Just like that?”Eliza glanced up from her laptop. “For now." Killian’s network had gone quiet. No posts, no suspicious activity. We can’t assume it will last, but it’s a pause.I let out a slow breath, relief washing over me, but I forced myself to stay grounded.“Good. But stay alert. This calmness could be temporary. The moment we let our guard down, things could start again.Even with the warning in mind, the peace and quiet was a relief. The office’s atmosphere was much bet

Serena’s POVThe day started with a tension that hung in the air like a storm waiting to break. I woke to the warm sunrays on my face. But before I could even open my eyes, Adrien leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to my forehead.“Morning,” he whispered, the warmth in his voice making me feel like nothing crazy could happen to me in this world as long as he's here.I smiled sleepily, lingering in bed for a moment longer. “Morning,” I murmured back. After that, I got down from the bed, and dragged my feet to the bathroom. After a hot shower, I dressed quickly, choosing a simple but professional outfit. Then I went over to the kitchen, and prepared a light breakfast; eggs, toast, and fruit. Adrien joined me, sitting close as we ate quietly, sharing the calm of the morning before we each had to face our separate companies.“I’ll see you tonight,” he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from my face.“Yeah. Take good care of yourself,” I replied, feeling a brief spark of comfort befo

Serena’s POVI woke to a gentle pressure against my neck and a soft, familiar kiss. Adrien’s warmth pressed against me for a moment, and I felt a quiet comfort settle through me. Even in the midst of chaos, mornings like this reminded me why we endured everything together.“Morning,” he murmured, pulling back just enough to smile down at me.I smiled sleepily, enjoying the brief intimacy before the day pulled us apart. Rolling out of bed, I headed to the bathroom for a bath. The water was hot and soothing, washing away the lingering tension of the previous day. I let my thoughts drift for a moment, thinking about Killian, the leaks, and the team’s strategy. I knew I couldn’t let fear or anger take control. After the bath, I dressed quickly in comfortable office-appropriate attire and made my way to the kitchen. The morning sunlight streamed in through the windows as I prepared a light breakfast which was scrambled eggs, toast, and fresh fruit. Adrien joined me, dressed casually for hi

Serena’s POVThe next day, the sun spilled through the curtains, but I barely noticed it. My phone buzzed on the nightstand, jolting me awake. I squinted at the screen, it was a message from Adrien. Then I looked to my left to see he wasn't on the bed. Where was he when he sent me a message instead?“If it’s truly Killian Blackwood, we just have to find a way to trace it back to him, and then use it against him. Don’t let it overwhelm you.”I read it twice, letting the words sink in. Even in text, he had a way of calming me, of giving me focus when my mind threatened to spiral. Then I typed a quick reply:“I know. We’ll find him.”I rolled out of bed and padded barefoot to the kitchen. Adrien was already there, pouring coffee into two mugs. His hair was slightly messy, and he wore that quiet, confident look that always made my chest flutter.“Morning,” he said softly, setting a mug in front of me. “Rough night?”I shrugged, taking a sip. “Same as always. Killian’s network keeps throwi

Serena's Pov The office had returned to its usual rhythm, but this time it felt different, lighter, freer. After the press conference, the storm that had threatened to swallow me seemed to pass. Instead of doubt, we saw support. Messages of encouragement filled our inbox, customers praised our honesty, and investors kept calling.“Sales are up another twenty percent,” Bridget informed me one morning, almost bouncing with excitement. “People are even leaving comments saying they trust us more now.”I smiled, though a part of me still held back. “That’s good. Let’s keep the momentum.”The fact that we had settled things this fast after an issue came up made me feel like a conqueror though, and like there was nothing else that could bring me down. What else could it be?But then, little did I know that the peace I had wouldn't last long.It all started with a blog post which I woke up to. A small site, barely known, published a piece linking my past to my family. It mentioned debts my f

Serena's Pov The atmosphere in the room was heavy. For once, the usual excitement of the office had gone quiet. The big conference table was crowded with folders, laptops, and cups of coffee that nobody touched. Everyone’s eyes were on me, waiting to hear what I had to say.Adrien had come over when he heard the news, and joined the meeting, sitting next to me, calm as always. He leaned back in his chair while the PR team shuffled their papers. At the front, Eliza, the head of the team, clicked her remote. Three words appeared on the screen behind her in bold black letters.DENY. CLARIFY. IGNORE.Her voice was steady as she spoke. “These are your options, ma'am. Deny means we outright reject the story. Clarify means we explain without admitting guilt. Ignore means we say nothing and wait for it to fade.”I stared at the screen. Each word felt dangerous. My throat tightened as if those choices had trapped me in a corner.“What if none of them work?” I asked quietly.Eliza hesitated. “
