Back at Killian's home, the house was quiet, too quiet for Killian’s liking. He sat in the living room with the television on, though he wasn’t watching it. The clock on the wall ticked steadily, each sound reminding him that Samantha had been gone for two days now.

Two whole nights, and no call, no explanation.

His jaw tightened as he poured himself another glass of whiskey, the amber liquid swirling in the glass. He had tried her phone over and over, but it always went unanswered. He had even considered calling a few of her friends, but pride stopped him. He wasn’t going to beg or look desperate.

Still, anger mixed with worry in his chest.

Suddenly, the sound of the front door opening broke his thoughts. He turned sharply to check who that was, and to his surprise, Samantha stumbled inside, her hair messy, makeup smudged, and her clothes wrinkled. The smell of alcohol lingered on her as she tossed her bag carelessly onto the floor.

“Where the hell have you been?” Killian demanded an

Serena's Pov When the sun rose the next day, I couldn't help but smile because each day here seemed like it was going to be exciting. I turned slightly and saw Adrien still half-asleep beside me, his arm draped over my waist. For a moment, I just laid there, staring at him in silence. And then his eyes opened slowly, and when he caught me staring, a crooked smile tugged at his lips.“Like what you see?” he teased, voice rough with sleep.I rolled my eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself." I was just thinking about how peaceful you look when you’re not bossing people around.” I uttered and closed my eyes in pride.Adrien chuckled, brushing his fingers through my hair. “Careful, Serena." I might keep you here forever if you keep insulting me like that.”“That sounds like a threat,” I said, but I couldn’t stop my smile. He rolled over me and started tickling me and I just couldn't help but laugh out uncontrollably.“Stop it!” I cried out, still laughing. But he didn't look like he was ready to

Serena's Pov I was buried in reports when my office door opened. I didn’t even bother looking up. I knew that walk, that quiet confidence. Only one man entered a room like he owned it; Adrien.“Serena,” his voice carried that mix of calmness and command.I sighed, still scanning the screen. “If you’ve come with bad news, save it." I’m not in the mood.”“Not bad news,” he said in a calm tone. “Actually, no news at all." That’s the problem.”I looked up, raising an eyebrow. “Explain.”Adrien walked closer, setting a small envelope on my desk. “Open it.”I frowned but did as he asked. Inside were two plane tickets to Barcelona, tonight.I blinked. “Barcelona? Are you serious?”“Completely.” His expression didn’t waver. “You’ve been working yourself to the bone, fighting fires that aren’t even burning anymore. Enough of all that for now.I let out a dry laugh. “Just like that?" You expect me to drop everything because you say so?”“Yes,” he replied, his voice low, eyes locked on mine. “B

Serena’s POVThe office felt almost peaceful this morning. For the first time in weeks, there were no alerts, no panicked calls, and no urgent emails demanding immediate responses. I walked through the workspace, noting the subtle but visible relief on my team’s faces. Bridget was already at her desk, checking updates, and Eliza was reviewing the analytics for the day.“Ma’am, it’s quiet,” Bridget said, approaching me cautiously. “The leaks have stopped.”I raised an eyebrow, keeping my expression calm. “Stop? Just like that?”Eliza glanced up from her laptop. “For now." Killian’s network had gone quiet. No posts, no suspicious activity. We can’t assume it will last, but it’s a pause.I let out a slow breath, relief washing over me, but I forced myself to stay grounded.“Good. But stay alert. This calmness could be temporary. The moment we let our guard down, things could start again.Even with the warning in mind, the peace and quiet was a relief. The office’s atmosphere was much bet

Serena’s POVThe day started with a tension that hung in the air like a storm waiting to break. I woke to the warm sunrays on my face. But before I could even open my eyes, Adrien leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to my forehead.“Morning,” he whispered, the warmth in his voice making me feel like nothing crazy could happen to me in this world as long as he's here.I smiled sleepily, lingering in bed for a moment longer. “Morning,” I murmured back. After that, I got down from the bed, and dragged my feet to the bathroom. After a hot shower, I dressed quickly, choosing a simple but professional outfit. Then I went over to the kitchen, and prepared a light breakfast; eggs, toast, and fruit. Adrien joined me, sitting close as we ate quietly, sharing the calm of the morning before we each had to face our separate companies.“I’ll see you tonight,” he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from my face.“Yeah. Take good care of yourself,” I replied, feeling a brief spark of comfort befo

Serena’s POVI woke to a gentle pressure against my neck and a soft, familiar kiss. Adrien’s warmth pressed against me for a moment, and I felt a quiet comfort settle through me. Even in the midst of chaos, mornings like this reminded me why we endured everything together.“Morning,” he murmured, pulling back just enough to smile down at me.I smiled sleepily, enjoying the brief intimacy before the day pulled us apart. Rolling out of bed, I headed to the bathroom for a bath. The water was hot and soothing, washing away the lingering tension of the previous day. I let my thoughts drift for a moment, thinking about Killian, the leaks, and the team’s strategy. I knew I couldn’t let fear or anger take control. After the bath, I dressed quickly in comfortable office-appropriate attire and made my way to the kitchen. The morning sunlight streamed in through the windows as I prepared a light breakfast which was scrambled eggs, toast, and fresh fruit. Adrien joined me, dressed casually for hi

Serena’s POVThe next day, the sun spilled through the curtains, but I barely noticed it. My phone buzzed on the nightstand, jolting me awake. I squinted at the screen, it was a message from Adrien. Then I looked to my left to see he wasn't on the bed. Where was he when he sent me a message instead?“If it’s truly Killian Blackwood, we just have to find a way to trace it back to him, and then use it against him. Don’t let it overwhelm you.”I read it twice, letting the words sink in. Even in text, he had a way of calming me, of giving me focus when my mind threatened to spiral. Then I typed a quick reply:“I know. We’ll find him.”I rolled out of bed and padded barefoot to the kitchen. Adrien was already there, pouring coffee into two mugs. His hair was slightly messy, and he wore that quiet, confident look that always made my chest flutter.“Morning,” he said softly, setting a mug in front of me. “Rough night?”I shrugged, taking a sip. “Same as always. Killian’s network keeps throwi
