MasukRemi’s phone rang as she left the school and got into the car that was waiting for her outside. It was Lacy calling, but she did not pick it. But Lacy kept calling and calling, until Remi had to silence her phone.
“Where to Ma’am?” The driver asked.
“The Web Group.” Remi said and the driver nodded.
Lacy wanted a new wife, and Ian wanted a new mom, so she’ll grant them their wish.
She was ready to leave the selfish father and son.
As the car stopped at the Web Group, she went straight to the secretary's office, where she gave Mason Frump her resignation letter.
When Mason looked at the resignation, he was shocked for a moment. "Mrs Web, are you really going to resign? You know that Mr. Web needs to approve this, right?”
Mason was one of the few people who understood the complicated relationship between her and Caleb. He was the senior secretary in the company.
In the beginning, Lacy was against her joining this company. But with his grandpa’s help, Mona got the business development manager role.
Remi smirked as she saw the worried on Mason’s face. "Don’t worry, Lacy will sign it.
After all, he was against me going this company in the beginning.”
Mason’s mouth opened a little. The letter of resignation he was holding felt like a knife stabbing his hand. He never thought Remi would resign one day.
When she first started working here, Mason thought Remi only had a pretty face but not hardworking. But Remi kept showing him that he was mistaken. Even though she was Lacy’s wife, she never got close to Lacy deliberately
except for when they were working together.
She could have gone to other big companies like the biggest Garvey Group owned by Finn Garvey in the whole of Sky city to work, but instead she decided to work for Lacy and take his company to greater height.
Despite being Lacy’s wife, she never used that to her own advantage. Instead, she decided to work hard like every other person in the company.
Mason had seen her hard work and sacrifices up close for the two years. He could tell that she really cared for Lacy. She might easily get a better-paying job with her skills. But she stayed at the Web Group and put up with Lacy’s cold shoulder. Now, it was evident that things had gone very bad between them.
Mason looked at the letter of resignation for a time before calling Lacy. He said, "Mr. Web, Mrs. Web wants to resign."
Lacy snarled, his voice full with scorn, "Resign? She's not that important. Treat her resignation the same as anyone else's. No special treatment! Is she trying so hard for me to pity her? That's a dirty trick!"
"Mr. Web, I don't think Mrs. Web is kidding this time. She….”
"Don’t be foolish and do as I say.” Lacy ended the call. He looked at Remi’s recent I*******m post after hanging up the phone. He squinted his eyes and his face got darker.
"What's the matter, Lac?" Bernice asked in a gentle voice, appearing weak. She bit her lip, and her eyes shone with tears that hadn't fallen yet.
"Remi still won't forgive me, will she? I should probably go to the company tomorrow and say sorry to her in person. I don't want to mess things up between you two because of me.” Bernice said, pretending to be sorry.”
She was sitting on the hospital bed and spoke in a very low voice.
Lacy shook his head. "Bernice, stop being such a wimp. You didn't do anything wrong, therefore you don't have to say you're sorry.” He thought Remi’s resignation was just a way to trap him and have the upper hand. She was too clever to give up something so valuable. He thought he was the only one who really understood Remi’s endless greed and ambition.
Bernice bit her lip and looked at her phone. "I want to take a short nap, Lac."
"Of course. I'll be right here when you wake up.” He answered, "Then I'll take you home."
He wrapped the blankets around her and then sat down on the chair next to her with his laptop.
Bernice hurriedly typed a message on her phone and clicked send while her back was facing Lacy.
{Carry the plan out now}

After the resignation letter was signed by Mason, Remi took out her phone and posted on I*******m when she was finally left the company.
[Finally resigned from Web Group]
She had built a strong network while
working in Web’s Group in this two years.
There were a lot of high-level contacts from different companies in her phone. This I*******m post she just made wasn't only for her friends to see that she was no longer working in Web Group, It was also a warning to everyone in her business circle not to contact her from now on regarding the Web Group.
A lot of companies started sending her direct messages with inquiries not long after she posted.
Remi answered some message and went offline. But her phone started vibrating again before she could even get in the car waiting for her. She frowned as she saw the name on the screen. She never imagine it was Finn Garvey, Lacy’s business rival, who was calling.
Remi had taken several clients from his company in the past, and Finn never missed a chance to quarrel her when they saw each other. She thought he was only calling to quarrel her again.
The phone kept ringing and ringing. Remi finally gave in and hit the answer button. "Stop it, Mr. Garvey, if you're calling to gloat!"
"Hey, calm down a little. I'm here to hire you!Ms. Puth, if you join the Garvey Group, I'll pay you three times what you're making now from Lacy,”
Finn’s voice sounded honest. He went on, "Look, you've taken a lot of clients from me, and yes, I wasn't always the friendliest. I truly like how good you are at what you do. I'd be happy to take you because Lacy Web doesn't value you anymore.”
Lacy didn't care about her, even though she had gotten him a lot of clients and business deals. He thought all of her hard work was merely a ruse to get on his good side.
Remi answered, "Mr. Garvey, I've been working like a machine for the last two years. I really need a break right now.”
"No problem! Take as long time as you want.
I’ll wait.” Finn responded.
She took a deep breath and hung up the call. She got a notification of Finn’s comments on her post.
His comment was "Ms. Puth, the Garvey Group's doors are always open for you! Tell me how much you want. I can pay for it. The Garvey Group can’t wait to have you.”
Remi laughed softly.
As soon as she got to the Web villa, she went straight to her room and started getting rid of everything that reminded her of her life here.
She took Lacy’s bank card before she left, thinking it was her money for the seven years of her suffering in this marriage. It would only be dumb if she left without getting anything.
She gave Evie Rotwood, the maid, a file with the divorce papers and stated, "This is an important document. Make sure Mr. Web gets it, and also sign it.”
Evie didn't notice Remi was now addressing Lacy as “Mr. Web” instead of hubby like she usually called him.
"Mrs. Web, are you traveling?” Evie asked.
Remi looked at her small suitcase and said. "Yeah, just a business trip."
She was going away for good and would never come back again.
Remi’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "Doesn't it hurt? You were so close to being married to her.” Lacy’s eyes were as cold and venomous as he gazed at her. "You know damn well why we didn't get together! You're the one to blame, but here you are, trying to blame others.” Remi laughed in a dry way. "Keep lying. But you know the truth deep within. Your mom wrecked your wedding plans long before we even hooked up!” She took a deep breath, and her voice was full of annoyance. "And now? I'm getting out of the way for you. Simply marry the person you love. I even got the public angry for you. What is stopping you? Don't tell me you're having second thoughts.”Lacy stopped moving. Those hashtags that are popular right now? He didn't think about losing Bernice at first. No, he couldn't believe how far Remi would go to get rid of him. He couldn't believe that she still only wanted to leave him. He said on purpose to get her angry, "I have loved Bernice for so many years. It's going to
Remi leaned up close and spoke in a devious way. "Back then, you didn't like Bernice, and now you can't tolerate me. Why don't you marry Lacy if no one he marries ever makes you happy? You can keep your darling boy all to yourself forever, and I can get my divorce without having to look at your ugly face every day.”Vivian was ready for something serious, not this embarrassing jab. She was so angry that she shook, and her polished exterior fell apart as she raised her hand to hit Remi. "You rude young brat! Who told you you could talk to me like that? Someone like you wouldn't even be able to stand in front of me, let alone marry my son, if you hadn't shamelessly seduced him.”Remi flinched back, pretending to be scared for a second. That dodge made Vivian angry. She surged forward and slapped Remi hard, her face contorted with rage. A loud crack resonated, and red fingerprints appeared on Remi’s soft cheek. The servants who were close by stopped what they were doing. Remi’s ey
Theo’s hard face softened when he heard her comments. "I've been a fool," he said, sounding sorry. "I couldn't keep my grandson in check. You must be in a lot of debt if you're resigning and getting a divorce. This check is my way of saying I'm sorry for being rude to you. Start a business, open a store, do whatever you want." She wasn't ready for his unexpected honesty. She looked at the huge number on the check and thought for a while. Theo pushed it into her hand. "Take this, and you're done with us. I'll tell everyone to stop looking at you. You will be free.”The study door suddenly opened. Lacy burst in, holding Ian in his arms. His expression was as dark as a thundercloud. "Well, Remi. You got your hands on that nice cheque, didn't you? He smiled. "That's pretty rich of you to call me out when you're just as bad. Who is the actual serpent in this marriage?”"Dad was right about you!" Ian pointed at her. "Gold digger! You don't deserve him! I don't like you as my mom!”Remi
"Please do this for her. Look at the poor creature. She's bawling her eyes out after all the work she did to get rid of me. Don't you feel sorry for her?" Lacy took a big breath. "Don't say stupid things." "Everything I just said was true," Remi said, her voice steady. Lacy looked at her. His lady. The one he had always been in love with. But now she has changed? "How many times have I told you?" he growled. "I'm not letting you go off to some other jerk, that's for sure,” His eyes became very small. "You worked so hard to get me to marry you back then. Well, now? It won't be simple to leave." Remi looked him straight in the eye and didn't flinch. She yelled loudly before he could tighten his grip. "Bernice, it's not that I won't move. Lacy is the one who won't let me go! What do you think about this? Send me the money first, and I'll figure out the rest later." "Have you lost your mind?" Lacy blew up. "You know she's weak, yet you're still trying to get her to do this? I'll tak
The doctor who was looking after Bernice was still here. Remi saw him and raised her chin to Lacy. "Don't buy it? You should ask him yourself.” "Well..." The doctor let out a sigh and shrugged. "ECT has worked for people with depression in the past. Helps some people get over trauma.”Lacy answered, "Let's do it then." Bernice woke up right on time, her eyes fluttering open. " "No!" Her voice broke, and tears filled her eyes. "I don't care if it hurts me. I want to remember how painful it was to lose my family forever!" "Really?" Remi smiled. "You can hear us?" "Bits and pieces..." Bernice choked between her sobs. Then she stared Remi straight in the eye, her eyes burning. "I know you don't like me, but this? Taking away my memories? Do you think that will hide what you did? I never wanted to blame you, but you know why I'm here!" You did this! And now you want to fry my brain to make me stop? That's just wrong!" Remi rolled her eyes and threw the medical report on Bernice’
It was midnight on the 15th on the screen. Ian pushed the door open and left by himself. Remi had divided the screen of the monitor into two parts: the corridor on the left and her room on the right. She was already asleep on the bed.Ian pushed the call button on his kid's smartwatch. His voice was quiet but excited. "Ms. Green, I'm in my mother's room now. What's next? I should approve the transaction right? All right! Will you stay with me every day after I do this? Okay!" Remi couldn't hear Bernice’s side, but she could tell that she was helping this kid through it step by step. Ian tiptoed into her room after they hung up and took her phone from the bed. The camera saw him access that payment app by tapping on it. He pushed that "accept" button, and the time stamp matched the transfer records flawlessly. The crowd got quiet when that five-minute clip ended. Lacy seemed really confused. "Why did you get my son to run this scheme?" Bernice put her hands over her face and cried a
