Chapter 4

Author: Unliterary
When they saw the state I was in, every one of them gasped in shock.

"Oh my God, what did they do to you?!

"This is outrageous! Do they even realize this is illegal?"

Sophie burst out laughing.

With her hands on her hips, she sauntered over to me, completely unconcerned.

"And who the hell are you people to meddle in my business?

"Don't you know? In this city, the Sinclair family is the law. And I'm the fiancée of the man who runs it.

"If any of you bottom-feeding nobodies dare say one more word for her, believe me, I can make your entire family suffer right alongside her."

That threat might have intimidated everyone else, but not David.

He had watched Dylan grow up. There was no way he believed his old friend's son would ever marry a woman like this.

So he immediately pulled out his phone and dialed.

"Dylan! Charlotte's being bullied here. Get your a*s back to the company right now!"

Sophie's father lunged forward and snatched the phone from his hand.

Without hesitation, he slammed it onto the floor.

The phone shattered instantly, pieces scattering everywhere.

He sneered mockingly.

"Who are you trying to fool? Look at yourself. You look like some factory worker who wandered in off the street, and now you're pretending you know Mr. Sinclair?

"Security! Beat these broke losers until they learn their lesson! And if any of you hold back, don't bother showing up to work tomorrow!"

Once the executives had spoken, the guards naturally did not dare hesitate.

Gripping their electric batons, they advanced toward us with vicious looks in their eyes.

"Are you people insane?! If you attack us today, you'll spend the rest of your lives in prison!"

My coworkers shielded me behind them, glaring coldly at the guards.

However, the guards had already decided we were just powerless nobodies.

The captain leading them raised his baton and swung it straight at one coworker's face.

"Ahhh!"

After a horrifying scream, he collapsed onto the floor covered in blood.

The corner of his mouth had been split open into a mangled mess, and his entire body twitched uncontrollably.

Even so, the others still refused to move away from me.

"Once I'm done dealing with you pieces of trash, I'll report this directly to Mr. Sinclair. Someone's been abusing his name out here like a bully!

"When that happens, just wait. Your entire family will be driven out of this city!"

Several guards rushed forward together, pinning down the coworkers standing in front of me.

David tried to stop them, but one strike from a stun baton sent him crashing to the floor.

The sickening smell of burnt flesh quickly filled the lobby.

Those monsters had actually turned the voltage all the way up.

I forced myself to stay conscious, barely managing to prop myself halfway upright.

Then suddenly, someone grabbed me by the throat from behind.

Sophie stood in front of me, smiling with cruel delight.

"See this, you little b*tch?

"Not just you. Your father. Your coworkers.

"Crushing people like you is easier than stepping on ants."

Grinding my teeth, I glared at her unwillingly.

Blood blurred my vision as I struggled desperately, but all I got in return was a brutal strike from the baton straight to my head.

In an instant, my body went limp like a puppet with its strings cut, collapsing helplessly onto the floor.

I had already lost too much blood. There was no strength left in me.

My vision began to blur.

Even breathing became harder and harder.

Then suddenly, panic rippled through the crowd.

Dylan pushed through the people with a dark expression, his face filled with urgency.

The moment Sophie saw him, her entire demeanor changed. The viciousness vanished from her face, replaced by a sweet smile.

"Mr. Sinclair! You're finally back!

"There was this shameless little sl*t trying to seduce you earlier.

"I already taught her a proper lesson for you!"

When I returned home that night, Dylan was already waiting outside the airport with the car.The moment he saw me, disbelief flashed across his face."Oh my god, Charlotte, you're even prettier than before."I broke into a bright smile and tossed my luggage into the trunk. On the drive back, Dylan brought up Sophie again."Charlotte, during the year you were away, Sophie's father died."I heard after he was sentenced, his wife ran off with another man, and all news about Sophie was completely sealed off. He had a mental breakdown and smashed his head against the prison cell wall."You have no idea how horrifying it was. They said his skull shattered on the spot. He died instantly."My father let out a cold laugh, his voice filled with contempt."Serves him right. Dying was too easy for a man like that."He should've lived long enough to suffer through every punishment imaginable."My mother looked confused after hearing my brother's story. She frowned slightly."What about

My brother covered his nose in disgust, then drove a vicious kick straight into her stomach without the slightest hesitation.Sophie let out a shrill scream and spat out a mouthful of blood. But even that was not enough. Hatred had completely consumed my brother's mind.He grabbed a steel pipe from nearby and slammed the pointed end straight through Sophie's pale palm. After wave upon wave of agonized screams, all the strength drained from her body. Her vision went dark, and she collapsed to the floor.I quickly grabbed Dylan's arm, trying to pull him back from the edge before he completely lost control."Dylan, that's enough."If you keep going, someone's going to die. I don't want you ending up in prison like them."His body stiffened. He turned back toward me, his eyes red."Charlotte... I'm sorry. I came too late."If I hadn't gone out for that business dinner, those two pieces of trash would never have tortured you like this."As he spoke, tears of guilt rolled down his

"Throwing animals like you into prison isn't nearly enough to satisfy me."Before that, I'm going to make you repay every bit of suffering you inflicted on Charlotte, a hundredfold, a thousandfold!"Dylan waved his hand sharply, and the bodyguards behind him surged forward at once.Ignoring the desperate pleas from Sophie and her father, they dragged the two of them into a car.As for me, my injuries were too severe. My vision went black, and I lost consciousness. When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in the Sinclair family villa. The moment my mother saw me awake, her eyes instantly reddened, tears slipping down uncontrollably."Charlotte, you're finally awake. Do you know you've been unconscious for three whole days?"She gripped my hand tightly. Her face was pale and exhausted, as if she had not slept in days."Mom, I'm fine. Where's Dylan?"I forced myself upright, wincing as I sat up in bed. Hearing my voice, my father hurriedly pushed the door open and rushed inside.

Dylan stopped dead in front of me.The moment he saw me lying motionless in a pool of blood, the panic in his eyes vanished, replaced by pure fury."You're telling me the woman who was supposedly trying to seduce me... was her?"His voice was calm, but so cold it carried no warmth at all.Sophie nodded eagerly and wrapped herself around his arm with practiced intimacy."That's right, Mr. Sinclair! You have no idea, my hands still hurt from beating her up for you."This b*tch even tried to deny it. But I personally saw your contact pinned at the top of her phone!"Halfway through her sentence, she suddenly realized Dylan's entire body was trembling."Mr. Sinclair... what's wrong?"Was I not harsh enough with them?"If you're still unhappy, I can–"Before she could finish speaking, Dylan finally exploded. He kicked her so hard she flew several meters across the lobby before crashing headfirst into a flower pot near the reception desk.Blood immediately streamed down the side

The sharp heel pierced through my palm almost instantly.Blood poured from the wound in thick streams.A scream tore out of my throat, my entire face twisting in agony as pain shot through me. I could clearly hear the sickening snap of tendons being crushed beneath her foot.Taking advantage of the moment, she snatched the document folder from my hand. Without a word, she ripped it to shreds right in front of everyone, then hurled the scraps viciously into my face."You filthy little b*stard with no upbringing. Since your useless father never taught you properly, I'll teach you myself what it means to stop coveting things that don't belong to you!"The moment she finished speaking, her lackeys hoisted me back into the air.My body was covered in blood. My head hung weakly, my consciousness fading in and out. I thought Sophie would finally stop there, but instead she ordered them to carry me into the company lobby. The receptionists and pedestrians outside stared in shock at the
