lRachel’s POV

The sound of his typing filled the room steadily, focused, unbothered.

The glow from his laptop cast a faint light across his face, sharp and calm, as if nothing in the world could shake him.

I watched him from the bed, the sheets soft beneath me, the air carrying the faint scent of my body lotion. I had just stepped out of the shower, the steam still clinging to my skin. My nightgown brushed lightly against my legs, but my mind wasn’t calm.

I turned once, twice… and sighed.

Rachel pov Rachel stepped out of the car with the two little girls holding tightly onto each of her hands, while the twins followed behind with one of the nannies, their tiny voices filling the compound with excitement after the long journey home. She had barely taken two steps toward the entrance when her mother came rushing toward her, her face lighting up with happiness as she pulled Rachel into a tight embrace. “My baby girl, you are finally home,” her mother said, her voice trembling with relief.Rachel smiled against her mother's shoulder and hugged her even tighter. “I missed you so much, Mom,” Rachel replied, her voice soft with emotion. Her father came forward next, and although he tried to maintain his usual serious expression, the smile on his face betrayed him completely. “Look at you,” he said, placing both hands on Rachel's shoulders as he examined her from head to toe. “You left this house looking exhausted and heartbroken, but you have returned looking like a

Rachel’s POVAfter the call with Dave ended, I remained on the edge of the bed for several minutes, staring at my phone while the last words he had said continued playing inside my head, but I refused to let them ruin the peace. I had finally found because I had spent too many nights crying over that man and too many mornings waking up with a broken heart, so I wiped the tears from my face and turned toward the two little girls who were sitting together on the bed, watching me with innocent eyes. “Girls, finish your food because we are going out today,” I said, forcing a smile.“Where are we going, Mommy?” the younger one asked excitedly.I laughed softly because I knew I had already lost the battle with that name.“I told you not to call me Mommy, but you keep doing it anyway,” I said. She smiled mischievously. “Because you are like our mommy,” she replied. Her sister immediately nodded. “Yes, you take care of us, you buy us food, you let us sleep in your be

  • She Died as His Wife, Returned as His Nightmare   Chapter 76 — The Video He sent

Rachel’s POVI woke up with a strange heaviness in my chest, the kind of feeling that stayed with me even before I opened my eyes, and for a few seconds I simply stared at the ceiling while trying to remember where I was and why the room felt so unfamiliar, but then I remembered i was on vacation, and most importantly, the two little girls sleeping peacefully in the other room, and somehow the thought of them made the heaviness in my chest disappear for a moment. I sat up slowly, rubbed my face with both hands, and glanced toward the bed where the girls were still sleeping, their little bodies curled together beneath the blanket as though they had been afraid to separate even in their sleep, and I smiled despite myself because there was something innocent about them that made me want to protect them from every terrible thing in the world. I quietly got out of bed, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and headed into the bathroom for a quick shower before picking up my bag and

Rachel’s POV“Don’t call me Mommy, sweetheart, because I’m not your mother,” I said gently, even though something inside my chest had already begun to ache at the way the little girl was looking at me.She lowered her eyes immediately, and the smile that had been on her lips disappeared so quickly that I almost wished I had kept quiet. “But our mommy died when we were born,” she whispered, her tiny voice trembling as she spoke, while her sister moved closer to her and wrapped both hands around her arm. “We never knew her, and our daddy only comes sometimes, so we don’t really know where he is now because he came this time and then he left again, and nobody told us where he was going.” I stared at them, unable to find the right words, because there was something terribly painful about hearing a child speak about losing her mother as if she had already learned to accept the emptiness, even though I could see from her eyes that she had never truly accepted it at all.

Rachel’s POVI dropped the phone on the bed and remained there for several minutes, staring at the ceiling while the weight in my chest refused to disappear, because no matter how many times I told myself that I was done with Dave, no matter how many times I reminded myself of everything he had done to me, the memories still had a way of crawling back into my mind whenever the room became quiet enough for me to hear my own thoughts. I turned onto my side and pulled the blanket over myself, hoping sleep would come quickly and rescue me from the storm inside my head, but just when I was beginning to close my eyes, my phone started ringing again, and when I looked at the screen and saw that it was my mother calling, I wiped the tears that had gathered beneath my eyes before answering because I knew she would immediately hear something in my voice if I allowed myself to sound as broken as I truly felt. “Hello, Mom,” I said softly. “Baby girl, how did the conference go?” my m

Rachel’s POV The moment I felt Josh’s arms wrap around me from behind, my entire body went rigid, and for one terrifying second I could not understand what was happening because I had spent the entire day trying to clear my mind, trying to convince myself that I had finally escaped the chaos waiting for me back home, only to feel the same kind of unwanted familiarity invading my space again. I turned around sharply and shoved him away with every ounce of strength I had, my chest rising and falling as anger flooded through me. “What the hell do you think you are doing?” I demanded, my voice shaking with fury. Josh barely moved, and instead of looking ashamed, he smiled at me with that same arrogant expression that had once made me question whether there was ever a genuine side to him. “Oh, so you still have that fire in you,” he said, rubbing his cheek as though my slap had amused him rather than offended him. I stared at him in disbelief, wondering how someone could be so sha

When we got home, the silence felt heavier than the night air outside. The moment we walked through the door, I collapsed on the couch, my head buried in my palms.
