Chapter 3

Author: Anonymous
"The two of you should stop chatting with each other. This guy looks so awkward here," the driver said.

I was grateful that the driver had made a fair point.

Rosalie and the man, who were chatting away just now, fell silent.

The smile on Rosalie's face vanished. It seemed like she wasn't going to say anything.

But the man beside her chuckled. "I'm sorry for neglecting you. I'm Rosalie's senior, Ethan Grant, and I'm one year ahead of her.

"We're in the same thesis group. If things go well, we'll pursue a PhD together."

After saying that, he patted my shoulder. "Are you Rosalie's older or younger brother? Why haven't I heard about you from her?"

His tone was calm, but his words were laced with mockery.

So he was Ethan Grant, another prodigy from Baston College.

This might sound absurd, but I knew this college better than the students here did, all because I wanted something in common to talk about with Rosalie.

Ethan's name always appeared on their college forum. He was really popular among the students.

The other students called Rosalie and Ethan the campus' perfect duo.

I clicked into the forum, and the latest post was a photo of Rosalie and Ethan.

They stood on the stage, and Ethan wrapped his arm around Rosalie's waist. They were smiling brightly as if nothing in the world mattered to them.

The audience was shipping the two as a couple. I had to admit that I was jealous.

Rosalie remained silent all the time. I figured she could sense the sarcasm in Ethan's words, but she didn't speak up for me.

"I'm her boyfriend." I grinned. I didn't plan to keep our relationship a secret.

Ethan's smile froze, and he quietly withdrew his hand.

When I arrived at the cinema, I realized it was a high-end, private cinema.

The price of the alcohol listed on the menu was enough to make me wince.

Ethan seemed very familiar with everything here. After placing his order, he handed me the menu. "I've ordered Rosalie's favorite dishes. Have a look at the menu and order something for yourself."

This place served Welean cuisine. Even the cheapest steak cost 300 dollars per serving.

Rosalie actually enjoyed eating all this?

Before she became known as a prodigy, she came from an ordinary family, just like me.

When we went on dates, we usually ordered set meals from a roadside stall.

Sometimes, we would also splurge on barbecues. We would go for a cheap buffet even if we wanted to have Welean cuisine.

Seeing I was in a difficult situation, Rosalie finally said, "One serving of pork chop, please."

Ethan took a sip of the coffee and flashed a sarcastic grin. "Pork chop stinks."

Rosalie shook her head. "He doesn't like to eat beef."

It wasn't that I didn't like beef, but that I thought it was expensive.

A surge of bitterness rose within me when Rosalie suddenly acted so caring toward me.

She knew how to have me wrapped around her finger. She would do something to hurt me, then comfort me the very next instant.

Whenever I felt like giving up, she would give me hope to keep going.

Let's try the gown."Seeing how panicked she was, I brushed the tip of her nose and said teasingly, "Alright."…The wedding gown Lily had her eyes on was the one published in the magazine. The night after Rosalie left, I received a message. The person claimed that she was from the same major as Rosalie. She told me a shocking piece of info. "Do you know why Rosalie is willing to be simp for Ethan? Do you know who Ethan's father is?"Rosalie is ruthless. She'll resort to any means, even selling herself, just to achieve her goals."I'm sure you know how it feels to have something taken away from you after working so hard. Both of us are victims."Her words reminded me of my own experience. I didn't even doubt her words.I looked into Rosalie's mentor and discovered that he was also a Grant. After seeing his photo, I immediately knew who he was. Ethan looked just like a younger version of that person.Lily Scott, the person who texted me and who was Rosalie's senior, almost broke down. She said she was so lost and that she even thought of taking her own life.I immediately called her, and I heard the wind howling in the background.I hastily said, "Don't do anyt

It was hard to tell what was true based on something posted online. Most people wouldn't waste time finding out the truth. They would go along with the majority and vent their dissatisfaction.Ethan had stepped forward to write the post, and Rosalie remained silent. All this made everyone think I was just a crazy admirer of Rosalie. Ethan had even revealed my name, and my photo was posted in the comment section.Soon, my identity and personal information were exposed online, and I became everyone's target.Enraged netizens flooded our college's forum with insults and hate comments about me. They called me an obsessive psycho and said I should be expelled. Someone even pretended to be a student and made a scene in my class. The academic director came to me and subtly reminded me that my personal issue had negatively impacted the school. "If this goes on, I'm afraid your admission…"I knew it was a warning directed at me. Ethan wanted to back me into a corner. In that case, I

After I confessed to Rosalie, I remained firm even though people had been questioning my decision.I had done everything willingly, simply because she said she liked me. I had been pursuing her for many years.Although I didn't get into the same college as she did, I secured direct admission to a well-known graduate school in Jesten after years of hard work.I had barely eaten or slept, and I had given up on all extracurricular activities. I had done my best just to be closer to her.I had almost achieved my goal, but things suddenly changed.I knew people changed, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon and unexpectedly. The woman I loved had fallen for someone else.I didn't write a long post to rant about this online, and I also didn't argue with her.All this was pointless. After blocking her number, I grinned at Wayne and said, "Let's go. I'll treat you to a meal!"…Since that day, Rosalie gradually disappeared from my world.Sometimes when I thought of her, I felt a

"She doesn't even love you. Why must you be such a simp for her?"At that time, I even defended her. I told my friend that it was Rosalie's weird habit and that she was born with it. She would do the same to everyone else. But now, everything I had said in the past felt like a slap in my face.Ethan merely fell, but she panicked and even got mad at me.She was capable of loving others, just not me.…I only had enough money to buy a return train ticket. "My relationship with Ethan is complicated. Don't be jealous over nothing," Rosalie said. Her tone was calm, as if she were stating a simple fact.Complicated? I wondered if she thought I was too stupid to realize what was going on between her and Ethan.Did she think it was pointless to explain something between the prodigies to an ordinary person like me?And she even asked me to stop being childish and expected me to ignore their intimate interactions? Should I pretend that nothing happened, just like what I had done in the past?I suddenly felt like laughing. I felt like I was nothing but a dog to her. "Henry…" Rosalie held my hand again.Somehow, I felt reluctant and shook off her hand.Caught off guard, she banged her hand against the door frame.Rosalie froze. Clutching her hand, she furrowed her brows. "Are you pleased now?"Did she think I was getting back at her? Before I could say anything, Ethan rushed over and shoved me away.
