The icy wind whipped around me as I stood shivering in a line that snaked down the block, wondering why I’d let Sonja talk me into this. She promised tonight everything would change. My phone buzzed—fifteen minutes in the cold, and the line hadn’t budged. I never understood why people waited hours just to step into a club. Yet, here we were, surrounded by laughter and anticipation, the air thick with perfume and desire. Behind us, luxury cars pulled up one after another. Out stepped beautiful women draped in furs and men flashing gold VIP tickets like keys to another universe. Suddenly, I needed to know what was on the other side of those doors.
"Charlize! This is the place! Tonight, you’re meeting someone who’ll deserve you. Forget that arrogant, disgusting Mark! This is your night to start over."
I tried to laugh, pushing down the pain still in my heart from Mark's betrayal. Sonja had begged for months—this new hotspot was supposedly magic. I was no club girl, but maybe she was right. Maybe a little chaos was what I needed to break the spell of loneliness that had wrapped around my life far too long.
"Girl, I'm so glad you came tonight. You can't let one man stop your show!"
She didn’t know how right she was. My last relationship had left scars I pretended weren’t there—a guy everyone warned me about. Mark Meadows. The memory of him still burns; he was a few years older, magnetic, and dangerously charming. When he noticed me my first year in college, I felt seen for the first time.
I fell hard, and fast. Too fast.
Everyone else saw the warning signs—my mother, my friends. They kept saying he was all about image, that he’d chew me up and spit me out. But I was eighteen, hopelessly naive, and he was the only one who made me feel special. I was swept away by his charm—until, suddenly, he vanished. Calls unanswered. Number changed. It was like he’d never existed. The ache of that betrayal clung to me, shadowing every relationship since.
"Come on, Charlize—the doors!" Sonja squealed, yanking me forward as the line lurched. My heart pounded with dread and anticipation. I stepped into the unknown.
As soon as we crossed the threshold, the world exploded into light and sound. Bass thumped through my chest, neon strobes painting the crowd in wild colors. Everything pulsed with energy—dancers, laughter, bodies pressed close. The staff looked like models: men in mesh shirts, women sparkling in silver. And above the chaos, I heard my own heart beating: anything could happen tonight.
"So, this is the Nightclub called 'Spectacular!" My friend says. Looking around, I thought the name fit the scene of the place. It had wall-to-wall windows that gave this amazing panoramic view of the city! And if you were somebody, then this was the place to be! Rich and famous people crawled all over the place. That made it one of the most popular night party spots.
A seductive mix of hip-hop, K-pop, and R&B poured from the speakers, daring everyone to let loose. The host pressed a golden ticket into my palm. "Baby girl, here, write your name. Drop it in the golden bowl. You could win an exclusive date with the owner tonight." I laughed it off—me, win anything? But Sonja’s eyes sparkled, and suddenly I wanted to believe it. Name scrawled, I dropped the ticket, feeling a strange jolt of fate as it disappeared among the others. We grabbed a table, adrenaline buzzing through my veins.
The owner looked out the window from the second floor of his office and made eye contact with his boys, nodding at each of them. He went downstairs over to the bar where they all gathered. He knew bringing back one of the most significant events that made Spectacular so famous in the early days would work!
"Are you all ready to get paid?!” he said enthusiastically to his boys, who were gathered around him, as he looked out at the crowd as they continued to fill the club.
They all responded, but not to his satisfaction. So, he repeated. "I said! Are you "Kings" ready to get PAID?!" All everyone could hear was the thunder of male voices barking and cheering throughout the club.
Like a proud peacock, the owner got up and walked away, leaving the bar as he finished his chocolate martini. His eyes roamed around Club "Spectacular," which he named and owned, basking in the crowds that poured into his establishment.
Drinks flowed freely, and girls were plentiful and scantily clad, gyrating against men on top of the tables and poles throughout the place. This was because so many video vixens regularly frequented the Nightclub. These girls are willing to sell their souls, hoping to be recognized by some famous entertainer who selected girls from Club "Spectacular" for a part in one of their music videos.
It was time; the owner noticed his boys kept giving him the eye, so he gave them a quizzical look; they all knew this wasn't a regular night at Club "Spectacular!" They were up to something, and whatever it was, he figured he had better get to the real purpose of this party.
Little did Charlize know she had come on a special night. Tonight's big event would warrant some special lady all her fantasies at this grand party if selected a great opportunity," it was the highlight called the "pot of gold" or the golden bowl.
This is when the sizeable golden bowl makes its grand entrance at the center of the room, under a shining spotlight for everyone to see. The "Pot of Gold" represented a young lady spending one glorious Fantasy evening with the handsome, charismatic owner and winning various prizes! She would be treated like a queen by the CEO of this fine elite establishment. The owner devised this idea to keep his investors happy and paid. The contest generated business for the club. They would give away prizes, including a weekend trip to this exclusive island.
In the early days after the nightclub opened, this event happened monthly at "Spectacular!" It would be filled with girls who readily put their names in the "pot of gold." If their names were selected from the golden bowl, they might be allowed to be in one of the music videos. Over time, this ignited the growth and publicity of Club Spectacular Fantasy," and everyone looked forward to the "Pot of Gold" event in earlier years. But once the Nightclub became popular, the owner discontinued this event. Of course, the investors frowned upon their owner for making this decision without approval.
But with the Nightclub's constant expansion, the owners' expenses were mounting. It was time now to use the "Pot of Gold" to keep business booming, so the owner thought tonight was the perfect night for the "Pot of Gold" to make its grand entrance again!
And tonight was the night Charlize attended the club "Spectacular!"
The DJ turned the music down and asked the crowd, "Are you all having a good time?" The groups applauded and cheered.
"Now that I have everyone's attention."
DJ Smiles. He sees a half-dressed female who catches his attention; he says in his cool, sultry voice, "Alright, little sexy Shawty over there on the table. Can you stop dancing just for a second, baby?"
The young lady blew him a kiss as she stopped dancing.
"Thank you, baby; now, can everybody please face this way." Then the dancing stopped completely, and everyone got excited and stood still, smiling.
"Could everyone please step back and form a large circle?"
Once he got everyone to step back. He said in an excited tone, "Ladies and Gents! It's time to highlight the "Pot of Gold!!!"
The crowd broke out in thunderous screams. DJ Smile waited for everyone to calm down. Then a tall, attractive, well-dressed man walked to the center of the room and reached into the golden bowl. He pulled out a golden ticket and announced the name on the microphone.
"Charlize Johnson!" The name rang out across the club’s surround sound speakers.
I froze.
The man standing in the spotlight was Mark Meadow. The same Mark who had shattered me years before. His eyes locked with mine, wide with shock. My pulse roared in my ears. The past and present collided in a blinding flash. This was no coincidence. This was my second chance, or my undoing.
My breath caught.
I never won anything—never.
And now, here I was, center stage, staring into the eyes of the man who had once broken me.
Suddenly, I wasn’t cold anymore. I was burning.
It was the man who vanished from my life years ago!
“Too bad I can’t have you right now,” Blaze murmured, glancing around conspiratorially before stealing a kiss—and then another, his hands roaming boldly. It was reckless, thrilling, and the man he used to be took whatever he wanted. He seemed to have vanished when he was near her. He’d always been careful, always loyal. But this was about love, love for one woman, Charlize, and he wanted to break all the rules if it meant he could be with her.But it was dark, and the only thing you could see was the stars reflecting off the water.“Wait, wait, babe,” Charlize mumbled, smiling, while his lips still moved hungrily against the soft skin on her breast.“Mm...” Blaze mumbled as his lips gradually stopped moving until they reached hers, lightly pressing against them. He opened his eyes and saw the stars and moon above. He smiled softly, pecking them again, then backed up and took her hand, sliding it up her inner thigh. Charlize squirmed as she took hold of his fingers and surprisingly smi
Blaze’s heart sped up as he took in a deep breath. Charlize gazed over her shoulder at him with those beautiful sable eyes. She felt his chest inhale and exhale against her back.Charlize turned around, facing him, gently placing her hands flat against his chest. Blaze saw the serene look in her eyes, saying something different from her words. He could see she didn’t feel uneasy and that she was letting her guard down. In that moment, Blaze felt she might just surrender her heart to him. It was something he had been dreaming about lately, being within her heart, but he was waiting for her to invite him in.But will she?Blaze, a responsible man, knew how deep she was in this. He didn’t take it lightly; it was her decision, and hers alone. But he knew what he was offering her. He felt the weight of being fully responsible for her fragile heart if she selected him.He felt honored and saw it as a privilege to be the one she was submitting her heart to, but he wanted her heart to be full
Charlize’s heart hammered in her chest the moment Blaze walked into the candlelit room—a vision so magnetic the world seemed to tilt. Every nerve in her body sparked with life, anticipation, and fear, electrifying her veins. This was it. This was the moment everything would change.“I have this vision of you in my head, and I can’t talk about it.” He chuckled. “I love what I see... and what you are doing to me.”Charlize softly gasped, smiling, as he stole her breath away. She put her hand over her mouth. “Blaze!”“I know I requested you tell me one thing. But you got me curious now. What’s your next thought?” Even though Charlize wanted to hear more, she didn’t know if she could handle it. With him looking so fine and sexy, talking in this manner would be too much for any girl to handle.“Well... it’s time for you to come home to me.”Charlize leaned forward, truly curious now. Then, with her eyes peering intently at him, she asked.“Home where?”“My home......I want you to be my fam
A crisp black envelope, trimmed in silver, waited on Charlize’s door. She barely finished reading the first line—Where dreams come true—before her heart skipped. Ball gowns. Tuxes. A night of gliding across the dance floor, of promises whispered with the ocean breeze. The invitation was pure temptation. “Will you be my partner this Saturday?” She was already reaching for her favorite dress. The only rule you need to be concerned with is saying yes to a night of fun as I drench you in romance! We will have an adventure as we sail across the ocean.I want this date to be one you’ll never forget. Forever Blaze ~Charlize couldn’t hide her smile. “Blaze, you really know how to sweep a girl off her feet.”That evening, Blaze arrived with no rough edges, exposed muscles, or tattoos. He looked devastatingly handsome in an all-black tuxedo. He carried himself with the confidence of a man who’d come to win her heart, not just impress her. Charlize’s heart stuttered at the sight of him, heat r
Charlize barely had time to catch her breath before sultry music filled the air—Diamante’s doing. She realized he wasn’t there to play around with her as he gave her this wicked grin. In a heartbeat, he began to move slowly and salaciously, deliberate, a tease bordering on reckless. He started to undress, and her heart hammered, nerves ricocheting into excitement. She couldn’t look away. Tonight, nothing would stay hidden.Diamante froze—a first for him. Dancing came easy, but tonight he was off-balance, undone by the way she watched him. Still, he flashed a cocky smile and started unbuttoning his shirt, slow enough for her to whisper, “Hurry, baby.” Every move was a dare. He watched her body react, the air between them charged with wild hunger. It hit him: they both wanted the same thing. Her gaze locked on the way his hips rolled, every movement both loose, sensual, and filled with hunger. Diamante’s lean, muscled frame was on full display. Once he got going, he was impossible to lo
A sharp rap at her door yanked Charlize from tangled dreams. She barely had time to process the heat lingering from last night’s kiss when a new voice—warm, playful—cut through the morning. The sun was up, but her heart was still racing. Today would not let her hide from trouble, or romance, for long.“Good morning, sunshine!” Diamante said, standing outside Charlize’s bungalow door.Light poured through the glass as Charlize blinked awake. There he was—a tall, charming figure, backlit by the sun, grinning at her door. She tried to push the memory of last night’s stolen heat aside, but it clung to her skin. No time to breathe. No time to forget. Another pulse of possibility waited on the threshold.Diamante, the youngest of the group, had to stand out. He had one shot to make her forget every other man. A bold move—something unforgettable—would be the only way.Diamante said, “Today is our day together, without any restrictions. Are you ready for some fun?”“Wait a minute, Mr. no rest
