_Zephyr’s POV_

“Zephyr, what are you hiding?”

I couldn’t breathe.

Kael’s words hung in the atmosphere like a blade pressed to my throat.

His voice was calm but filled with suspicion. And that was what terrified me the most.

I turned slightly, clutching the torn edge of my shirt so tightly my knuckles turned white. My chest bandage still peeked through the rip, and even though I’d twisted away, I could feel his eyes on me.

My heart pounded so loudly in my chest and only one thing remained at the back of my mind:

RUN.

“Zephyr, I just helped you and you couldn’t even thank me, instead, you’re turning away and even hiding things_”

I gritted my teeth at those words. So what?

“I didn’t ask for your help,” I snapped. “I didn’t want your pity or help. Or your annoying presence.”

I was shaking. Goddess, I was shaking so badly. And I knew if I didn’t leave, I’d end up exposing everything about who I was.

I took three steps back and he took a step forward. “Stay away f

  • She’s The Alpha King   Training Day

_Zephyr’s POV_ What are you doing here?" Kael's voice rang out in the open field. I swallowed, then took a step towards him. "Getting some air. I'm going in now." Without waiting for a response from him, I walked in the door. But just before I could get to the door, his voice came again. "Zephyr, can you stay away from Vaelen and his group? If you keep messing with them, you'll be eaten alive, and I'm not kidding." He said with a serious look. I clenched my fist and smiled bitterly. "And do you think I want to be entangled with them?" I asked, cocking a brow. "They came after me, I didn’t go after them." I said in return. "That's because you're weak. Tomorrow is combat day, you'll be my opponent." He said in a tone of finality. I wanted to reject, but I couldn't because he had already walked away. I couldn't understand why he was doing all these. Helping me for no reason. Did he have a motive? One I didn't know about. I walked back to my bedroom, closed the door behind m

  • She’s The Alpha King   The Principal’s Warning

_Zephyr’s POV_ I stared at the folded paper in my hand like it was a bomb. A prefect had handed it to me right after morning drills. No words, just a harsh look before walking off like nothing happened. My fingers shook a little as I opened the note. Only six words were written in thick, black ink: “Principal’s Office. Now. Don’t be late.” The words were simple, but something about them made my stomach twist. I wasn’t in trouble—at least, I didn’t think so. But still, being called to the principal’s office felt like walking into a trap with no idea what kind. I stood outside the big wooden door for a while, pretending to fix my shoelace just to catch my breath. The hallway was eerily quiet. I reached up and fixed my cap, tucking in the strands of hair that had slipped out. It was a habit by now, but today it felt different. Like I was being watched. Finally, I knocked. “Enter,” came a deep voice from inside. The room smelled like old books and lemon polish. The walls

  • She’s The Alpha King   Bruised, Not Broken

_Zephyr’s POV_ The sting on my cheek still lingered like fire under my skin. I could feel it pulse with every heartbeat. My jaw clenched as I stared at the cracked floor tile in the corridor, forcing my body to stay upright. I wouldn’t cry. Not here or in front of them. I already walked out of the training room, even before any of them could grab me again. I could still hear their laughter echoing in my ears. “Next time, never blabber about us again, understood?” one of them had sneered after the slap. Vaelen, Sian, and his crew. Always looking for someone to hurt. Today, it had been me again. Maybe it was the way I walk, maybe it was the way I refused to bow down to Vaelen, or the way I shamed Sian. Or maybe they just hated that Kael had spoken to me earlier and saved me. I didn’t know. I didn’t care. Okay, maybe I cared. A little. Those unexpected slaps always left me feeling little of myself. But I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me break. I touche

  • She’s The Alpha King   King Of Bullies

_Zephyr’s POV_ The bullies left the cafeteria like they owned the whole school. The worst part was that they didn’t even take much food. Just enough to make a scene. Elias and I waited until they were gone before stepping forward to grab trays of our own. “Those guys are the worst,” Elias sighed, picking up a muffin and an apple. “Honestly, I don’t get why they’re still here. They’ve all broken at least ten rules.” I nodded, forcing a tiny smile as something suddenly clicked in my head. “They have connections, remember?” “Or maybe the principal just hasn’t caught them doing anything serious yet.” He said. He was here before me, so he could be right after all. I didn’t say anything. I just picked my food and followed him to one of the empty tables by the window. The sunlight streamed through the glass, making the whole place feel warmer, but it did nothing for the chill sitting in my stomach. We ate mostly in silence, except for Elias commenting on how dry the panca

  • She’s The Alpha King   What are you hiding?

_Zephyr’s POV_ My eyes fluttered open and I groaned. Pains exploded all over my body, but I bit back the wince at the tip of my tongue. The healer in the room checked me once again and thankfully, he didn't touch my chest or remove my clothes since the injuries I sustained were merely on my arm and legs. After his instructions, I left the infirmary and returned to my room for a warm bath. Kael had really tried to kill me. Goddess. After a while of staying still in my room, I stood up to my feet and walked out. I shouldn’t have stepped out and come out here. The pain in my ribs was still very real, even after the healer at the infirmary had done his best. But the pain in my chest was worse. I couldn’t sleep, not with the sting of humiliation still clinging to my skin like a second layer. I could still hear their gasps, still feel the thud of Kael’s sword against my body. I needed to move. To remind myself why I spent years training. Why I endured pain and silence an
