CHAPTER 2

Katarina’s Pov

“Let us go please” Maddie begs me. 

“I don't want to. I don't have a good feeling about it and Zach won't be coming," I tell her. We are in my room lying on the bed.

“I don't care if he's coming or not. I'm bored and it's the weekend. Let's go out and have some fun," she says, trying to convince me. I didn't feel like going out today. My wolf has been acting up and trying to take over for some time and I've been trying to calm her down. I might be latent but that doesn't mean my wolf isn't dominant. In fact, it is very dominant and is always trying to gain control over everything. The one wolf that has been able to make it submit is the Alpha, Maddie's father. And as of this moment, it wants out. 

“So you don't want to go out with me? It's okay, I'll be going on my own. After all, I don't have any friends I can go out with," she says, trying to blackmail me emotionally. She actually has a lot of friends. Perks of being the Alpha's daughter but she always calls them fake friends.

“Besides it's been ages since we last went out," she continues

“And whose fault is that?" I ask her, raising my eyebrows at her. She smiles sheepishly. While I've been helping my dad in the company, she has been going on dates. So engrossed with her mate, she forgot I existed. I'm not holding a grudge though.

“Come on now I know you want to. We could go to that club you love so much. I heard there's a new catch in town," Maddie says piquing my interest. 

“What's the catch?" I ask. I know I'm going to give in to her but I want her to beg for a little bit.

“Well, there's a hot guy in town. He has been going around snubbing ladies and I also heard he's very handsome. He's definitely your spec," she tells me.

“Wow, are you trying to set me up with this guy?” I asked her.

“No, of course not. But you might meet your match tonight. At least someone worthy of you," she says. I could understand her wanting to go out and trying to convince me to go with her. But what's this talk about meeting my match? I'm pretty sure she has plans already.  

“You're becoming suspicious young lady," I teased her. 

“Okay, I give up. I'll just have to go on my own," she says dejectedly. I almost burst out laughing at the expression on her face and the tone of her voice. 

“Okay, I'll go with you tonight. But that means we’re now even. I'm not owing you any favors again. Agreed?” I asked her. I owed her a favor for losing the race.

“Okay ma'am," she replies immediately and stands up. She starts walking to my door.

“Where are you going?”I asked her.

“I have to go prepare, you know. It's not every day I get to go out with my best friend," Maddie answers. I could hear the joy and relief in her voice as she talked. I kinda have a feeling that she's having some issues with Zach and didn't want to tell me about it. 

It's been more than 2 hours since Maddie told me she was ready and I haven't heard from her. I decided to call her again.

“Oh my gosh, Kat I'm so sorry I lost track of time," Maddie said immediately after picking up my call. “We’re on our way though. Hope you're ready?”

“We? Are you coming with someone else?" I asked her. I am pretty sure Zach is coming with her. 

“Yea," she hesitates. “Zach is coming with us”. No male would allow their mate to go clubbing alone. Especially not an Alpha in love. I guess they must have settled their issue for him to be allowed to come with us. 

“Okay I'll be waiting," I replied. I was almost done with my makeup so I increased my speed so they don’t get here and start waiting for me. I applied dark red lipstick on my lips and I was ready to go. I wasn’t overly dressed but I made sure to dress to hunt. After all, I’ll be the only single person in my group. The club we're going to is the biggest in the city and it is owned by a friend of Zach. As for now, it's my favorite club and I don’t see any other club beating it anytime soon. 

I heard the sound of their car horn and I quickly put on my heels. I check myself in the mirror and I look breathtaking. I quickly went downstairs and heard my mum in the kitchen talking. “I’m going out mom, I’ll be back tomorrow, love you," I shout while walking towards the door.

“Stay safe honey," she yelled back and I’m out the door. I walk towards their car and enter inside. 

“Hey Zach," I greeted him.

“Hey," he replies.

“I thought this was a girls' night out. I wasn’t expecting to see you too," I admonish him. He starts the car and looks at me through the reverse mirror.

“I’m sorry Kat but I can't let Maddie out of my sight with this gown," he says smirking. She gave me a knowing look and smiled. I shook my head. This duo is a very naughty set. So basically while I waited for them to come pick me up they were busy between the sheets. Times like this make me wish I had a mate. I look outside the window and sigh.

I'm 26 years old and I haven't seen my mate yet. The day I'll finally meet him I'll kick his ass for making me wait this long. Sometimes I wonder if there's a mate out there for me. I've been keeping to myself but I've been tempted a lot of times too. Will the wait be worth it? I ask myself. A 26-year-old virgin. 

We reach the club in no time and walked to the entrance. There was a long line of people standing outside waiting to get checked before they could enter inside. We walked straight to the door and security opened the big black glass door for us immediately.

"Welcome Mr. Zach," he greets Zach. Zach is a well-known and respected Alpha. Although he's good friends with the owner of the club, there's a rumor going on about the owner not being a werewolf but he was able to build on the land because of his connections with Zach. 

"Okay hun I'm going to have to leave you, girls, here. I have some business to discuss upstairs with someone very important so please stay out of trouble". Zach tells Maddie and leaves us alone. I could tell she was not expecting Zach to just leave like that.

"Okay girl it's time to have some fun," I yell. I grab her hands and drag her toward the dance floor. The place is not yet crowded so we could move easily. I started moving my body slowly to the music playing. 

We danced for a few minutes when I felt strange hands on my hips. My reflexes took place and in seconds I had the young man on the floor screaming. I observed my surroundings and no one was paying much attention to us. I gave the guy some space and continued dancing like nothing happened. Maddie starts laughing after watching the whole scenario.

"I'm thirsty," she shouts in my ear. "Let's go grab a drink at the bar," she tells me and goes to the bar. On my way to the bar, I felt shivers run down my back. 

Immediately my wolf raised her big head to challenge the authority. Someone or something was staring at me. I stopped walking and quickly scanned through the crowd. There was no suspicious movement from anybody so I quickly walked to the bar. The club was becoming more crowded and lively. 

"Maddie let's go upstairs," I tell her.

"Why? It's more fun here," she replies. I was feeling uneasy and couldn't understand why. My wolf wasn't helping matters either. She wanted out and was pacing in my head. 

"It's too crowded. I'm not comfortable with the eyes looking at me either," I tell her. She looks at me and sees how serious I am and agrees to go upstairs. Upstairs is the VIP section and it's not easy to be granted access there. But that's one of the perks of being Zach's mate. Not all rules apply to us when we're with him. We go upstairs and are directed to a nice spot. 

It was less crowded and the music wasn't too loud. A waiter came to take our drink of choice. 

"2 sex on the beach and shots of mind eraser," Maddie tells the waiter. I frown when I hear what she ordered.

"I thought you were thirsty so why the shots?" I ask.

"You've been stiff after the incident on the dance floor and I want you to be free. Lighten up," she says and stands up to move to the beat of the song. A few minutes later the waiter brought our drink. 

"Cheers," Maddie sings and drinks a shot of the mind eraser in one go.

"Slow down please," I tell her. I call the attention of the waiter and ask him to bring two bottles of water. 

I don't know what is wrong with my wolf but she is getting restless. I picked up the sex on the beach and drank from it. I hummed in relief. I didn't know I was thirsty until the drink touched my tongue. It was so refreshing I finished it in one go. Immediately I dropped my glass, my eyes came in contact with a pair of dark brown eyes staring at me.
