LOGINJada and Honey met back in grade school. They reunited in college and decided to apply to the same university. Since wearing a uniform was not required, they dressed up however they wanted.
Despite that, Jada never dolled up, unlike Honey. Most of the time, she donned simple clothes like fitted jeans, sneakers, and tees.
Honey, on the other hand, prepares her outfits the night before. She always looked good. She had to. The same goes for the pinks. And that was because they were targeting a couple of hotties on the campus.
Jada’s friends are all fun to be with. During their break time, they will hang out under the biggest mango tree on campus, the one closest to the gym.
Bambi and Ada treated that spot as their own. Why not? Hanging out there lets them see the sweaty abs of the university’s gorgeous varsities–daily.
Who won’t drool?!
Jada, of course. She was used to seeing those back in Kensington. Faith, her cheerleader cousin, would always drag Jada to her practices, and so she was exposed to tons of abs, glutes, and all sorts of muscles.
She could only shake her head whenever she heard the pinks shriek, especially when Lyken and Kobe passed them by. Both are considered the hottest varsities in their university anyway.
Well, they are all good-looking. Anyone would think it was one of the qualifications to become a varsity. You are a winner, whoever you picked.
What she does not understand is why Ada and Bambi are so obsessed with Lyken and Kobe specifically. Lyken would not even pay them attention. Not even a glance. But the pinks were more than willing to faint for him.
Jada, Honey, and the pinks were all freshmen, while both lads are in their sophomore year. That is why the pinks would always pray for them to fail. So they would graduate at the same time.
One day, while seated on the bench under the mango tree, Honey thought of stalking Kobe. She was busy scrolling through his profile while Jada lay beside her. Her head rested on Honey’s lap to stop the wind from blowing her skirt.
Suddenly, an awfully familiar voice greeted them. "Hi, girls! Oh, you're checking my account!" he added.
Jada sat up, startled. Honey’s face was flushed. She was caught red-handed by her crush, and Jada giggled subtly on the side. Kobe approached them with a wide smile, while Lyken followed behind with his usual poker face.
None of the girls responded, so Kobe proceeded with the introduction. "I'm Kobe Quinn, by the way, and this is my best friend, Lyken Reed.”
In a trance, Honey extended her hand to return the handshake. “H-Honey Jones,” she stammered. "And this is Jada.”
Jada simply nodded to acknowledge them, smiling timidly before turning her attention back to the book she was pretending to read.
"Jada…" someone muttered, but she did not catch who it was.
Then they all fell into silence. No one spoke again. They were all waiting for someone to say something, until a loud shriek broke the ice.
It was none other than Bambi.
"Hi, Kobe," he greeted, about ready to drool from the overflowing hotness in front of them.
Meanwhile, Ada stood rooted in place. None of them expected the hottest varsities to grace them with their presence.
Without waiting for an invitation, Lyken sat across from Jada. Kobe walked closer, his knee resting on the bench.
"Honey, can we invite you tonight? We’re planning to go out with some of our teammates. It would be great if you could join us.”
Without second thought, Honey nodded. "Sure!""Are you sure? Y-Your partner won’t mind?” Kobe asked, eyeing Jada.
Jada clearly saw the gesture, and her forehead creased. Kobe, on the other hand, looked confused. Lyken also looked at Jada, but he didn’t say a word.
“My partner? Jada?” Honey chuckled while both pinks cracked up.
"What the fuck, Jada! I didn’t know you were a tomboy!" Bambi teased.
The situation was rather awkward, and Jada could feel her face turning crimson. Instead of saying anything, she chose to stay mum.
“Dude, you’re out of your mind!” Lyken muttered.
Kobe realized what he just said, and scratched the back of his head. “Shoot! I’m so sorry! I don't mean to offend you, Jada."
Jada smiled, “No, it’s fine.”
“No, I’m really very sorry,” Kobe insisted. “I-It’s just that, we usually see you pass by the gym, and you always have your arm around Honey’s shoulder or waist. Plus…” He paused, eyeing Jada. “The boyish outfit. So I thought you’re her partner or something.” He finished explaining.
"No, really, it's fine,” Jada repeated, still smiling. “It's not the first time," she even added to end the conversation.
Honey turned to her, brows knitted, and Jada understood. She just lied. It was not true that she was often mistaken for a tomboy. Kobe was indeed the first.
Kobe sighed, and his eyes remained apologetic. He regretted what he said, big time. Jada smiled at him, the comforting kind. She just wanted him to know there was nothing to worry about.
When Kobe finally got the message, he turned to Honey again. "So! See you tonight?" Once again, Honey nodded without hesitation.
"Jada, can you come too?" Kobe asked sweetly. Lyken looked up, his forehead creased. It was as if Kobe did something out of plan.
Jada quickly thought of an excuse to reject the invitation. “I’m not sure I can make it…” she trailed. “I still got papers to finish,” she lied.
“Please…” Kobe even knelt on the bench, clasped his hands, begging her to agree.
Honey sat down, lightly pinching Jada’s leg. It was her way of convincing her best friend. Her eyes were pleading.
Jada sighed, “Okay.” She finally responded.
There was no harm in going out anyway. Besides, it was something big for her best friend. So, why not?
“Yes!” Kobe exclaimed.
But the pinks approached them, pouting. “What about us?” Bambi asked.
“You guys can come too! The more the merrier!” Kobe grinned, not taking his eyes off Honey. "So, we'll see you guys tonight?" Honey nodded and smiled.
Before they left, Kobe handed his phone to Honey. She quickly jotted her number, returning the phone with an awfully sweet smile.
As soon as Kobe and Lyken were out of sight, the pinks grew anxious. They were already planning their outfits, and even Honey joined in.
Jada was also a little excited. It has been a while since she went out. But at the back of her head, she still cannot get over the thought that she was mistaken for a tomboy.
‘Like seriously?’
Lyken’s POV“Baby, what do you want for breakfast?” I asked when I noticed that she was already awake. We’ve already moved to our new house. I had this built two years ago, then two weeks before the wedding, I prepared it for us to move in right after the wedding.“Fried rice and salted egg,” she said as she rolled to her stomach.“Ok then, I’ll ask Lucy to prepare it,” then I stood up, kissed her forehead, and hugged her.“Ew! You smell bad!” she exclaimed as she pushed me away.I creased my forehead, and she looked disgusted. “I… I smell bad?” I asked in disbelief, and she nodded. “Baby, I just took a bath! I’m even wearing the perfume you gifted me!”“Ly, you stink! Go and bathe again!”I scratch the back of my head. I felt embarrassed, but I couldn’t stop myself from chuckling. ‘Is this because of her pregnancy?’To not ruin her mood, I quickly head to the bathroom to wash off the smell of perfume. That’s probably it.Jada waited for me, and when I returned, we went downstairs tog
It’s been two weeks since Lyken proposed, and now, they’re getting married. Yes, today is that day, and Jada could say she’s more than excited.Everyone thought it would take them a few months to walk down the aisle, but when Lyken said it was in two weeks, Jada agreed. There’s no reason not to.‘He loves me, and I feel the same for him. Why should we drag? In all honesty, I've never felt this happy before. Not since Lyken became my boyfriend.’When Jada and Lyken broke up, she thought they couldn’t fix things between them. But thanks to the power of forgiveness, they are where they are now.Just as Demi Moore said, ‘The things people do to each other, they remember. If they stay together, it's not because they forget. It's because they forgive.’And Jada agrees with her. Whether she likes it or not, what happened between Lyken and her will be forever part of their history. That’s something they can’t just erase. However, instead of seeing it as an obstacle, they should see it as a les
Jada was startled when she heard Honey yelling. She wanted to stop her, but she was in full warrior mode, so she didn’t bother.“Hey! Hey, you! Stand up, bitch!” Honey called off the woman as she pulled her arm.The girl sat up, rubbed her eyes, and tried to recognize who was the woman that was harassing her. “Who are you?” she even asked. The blonde girl was about to speak again, but Honey’s palm flew across her face. “You don’t have to know! What you need to do now is to get out of that bed,” Honey continued. When the woman didn’t move, Honey grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out of bed. The blanket covering her fell to the floor, and Jada was relieved when she saw that she was still wearing her bra and pants.“What the fuck is wrong with you?” She screamed as she struggled to stand up. “How dare you hurt me?”Honey slapped her again. She was trying to help the girl get her senses back. The girl with blonde hair touched her face and screamed when she saw bloodstain on her fin
The next day, Jada woke up past lunchtime. It was a Sunday. When she stepped out of her room, Jada saw their friends in the living room. Everyone’s there except for Lyken.“Hi, Ja,” Kobe greeted. “Lyken had to go with his parents to visit his grandparents. But I’m meeting him tonight. We’re talking to a client about a new project. But don’t worry, it won’t get in the way of your wedding.”Jada nodded at him as she sat on the couch. Steve sat next to Jada, reaching for her hand and giving it a light squeeze. “What happened to you guys?” he asked. She lets out a sigh and starts telling them everything. They were all just listening, sighing from time to time.“You just have to talk calmly,” Kobe suggested. Jada nodded at him, and he smiled. “There’s nothing the two of you can’t fix. Compared to what you went through before, this is nothing.”“Exactly! Just stay calm when you talk, both of you! The last time you did, you were at each other’s throats. Of course, nothing good will come out
Lyken felt his body stiffen when he heard what Jada said. Instead of explaining herself and apologizing for what she did, she asked him to leave.‘She’s unbelievable!’Jada quietly stood up, faced her closet, and pulled out a pair of pajamas. She started taking her clothes, one by one. She even ripped the fishnet off her body. She stopped her from what she was doing, holding both her wrists down. “What’s wrong with you?” Lyken sneered. She looked straight into his eyes, and Lyken wanted to back down. He saw how cold she was looking at him. ‘What’s happening to her?’“What else do you want me to do? I was considering quitting my career after marrying you because you said you don’t like it when I go out there, dressed up with almost nothing, and other men see me. I allow you to choose my outfit so we won’t argue about anything. Now, what else do you want?” she screamed, tears starting to flow down her cheeks.Lyken heard movements from behind him, it was Honey and the pinks, but he igno
Lyken already had a few drinks when he got to the venue. He came from his parent's place and had a few drinks with his cousins. But then they had to leave early for the party.“Hey, dude!” Kobe greeted him, and Lyken started introducing his cousins to him. “You ready to party?” he whispered as they entered the club.As soon as they entered, the lights turned off. Kobe led him to the couch and made him sit right in the middle. “Now you wait for the gifts,” he chuckled.Steve passed a glass of whiskey to him. Lyken took a sip and waited until he heard the music playing.‘Showtime!’The spotlight turned to the center of the floor, where two girls stood back to back. Then they turned to face each other. They started kissing before pushing each other away. Then they started walking toward Lyken. He didn’t like the idea of hiring strippers. They’re good for the eyes, but that was it. However, Steve and Robin decided to hire two strippers for the guests. They even told Jada about it, and she
