Yes — the transitions can be made smoother without changing the events or adding unnecessary details. The main thing is to make the movement from the cafeteria → Mila’s house → Hayes’s scene → the sleepover feel continuous and natural.

Here’s your passage with the transitions smoothed while keeping the original content and simple, intermediate novel style:

“Um, why is Hayes glaring at you?” Jake asked Mila at the table.

“I guess he likes what he sees,” she said, loud enough for him to hear.

“Ha! You wish. I’d rather stick it in a hole than fuck you, Ms. Fakey,” he replied in the same tone, loud enough for everyone to hear.

There were murmurs of “burns” and “she deserves it,” but Mila masked her discomfort with a dry laugh.

“I’ll bet the hole doesn’t get STDs from you, since you can’t help but stick it in every skirt you see,” she smirked at him.

“Scowls don’t look good on you, Miller,” she added with a wink.

“At least I get laid, but you never have, ever since Ace Smith. Does that ring a bell?” he laughed as he walked off.

Ace was a sour topic for Mila and her friends. He was a part of her past she wanted to keep buried, but it seemed that wouldn’t be possible anymore, not after Hayes had brought it up in front of everyone.

The entire cafeteria fell silent as Mila and her friends walked out.

“You crossed the line, man,” Austin spoke up.

“She started it, and I am finishing it. Besides, what’s your problem?” Hayes asked, getting angry.

“His problem is that Ace raped her. He forced himself on her, and you know that’s not something to joke about,” Mike chimed in.

“She shouldn’t have started something she couldn’t finish,” Hayes arrogantly added.

Before he could say anything else, Nina dumped a cup of Coke over his head.

“That’s for being a douche.” She picked up her phone and walked off with Natalie.

By the time Mila and her friends got away from the cafeteria, the humiliation and anger had settled heavily between them. None of them wanted to go back to class after what had happened, so they decided to ditch school.

They ended up at Mila’s place, where Willow stayed close to her while the others tried to make sense of what had happened.

“Hey, are you okay?” Willow asked her friend.

“I don’t know. It’s just…” Mila struggled to find the words.

“Why the hell would he bring that up?” Khalil asked angrily.

“I started it. He just wanted to get to me, and he did,” Mila defended.

“No, you didn’t. You didn’t bring up any of his buried past in this, so why did he?” Jake asked.

“There’s no need for blame games. Just let it slide.” Mila wrapped her arms around herself.

“Sleepover tonight. You, me, and Aaliyah. Maybe one of her friends too.” Willow left no room for argument.

“I’d love the company.” Mila smiled at her.

“We gotta go. Take care of her, Willow.” Khalil hugged his friend before leaving with Jake.

As soon as they left, Willow pulled out her phone and sent Aaliyah a message.

Willow: Hey, you’ve got plans tonight?

Aaliyah: Just hanging at home with Vanilla, why?

Willow: I was wondering if you girls were up for a sleepover at Mila’s?

Aaliyah: That would be great. I heard what happened. Is she alright?

Willow: She would be.

Aaliyah: Okay, I’ll see you later.

“Texting Aaliyah?” Mila asked.

“Yeah. She’ll be here with her new friend, Vanilla,” Willow informed her.

“Are you hungry?” Willow asked, sitting beside her.

“Yeah. Let’s go downstairs and get something to eat. At least food would keep me sane.” Mila smirked as they descended the staircase.

While Mila and Willow went to get something to eat, Hayes was having a very different kind of afternoon.

He had looked for Mila and her friends all over the school but couldn’t find them. He had wanted to apologize for what he said earlier.

He knew he had crossed the line the moment those words left his mouth. As much as Mila was at fault for starting the argument, no one deserved to be reminded of something as horrible as that.

His phone vibrated, and he answered the call. It was his kid sister, Vanilla.

“Talk to me,” he said, frustrated.

“Hello to you, brother,” she replied, sarcasm dripping from her tone.

“What do you want, V?” he asked again.

“Nothing. I just called to tell you I’m going for a sleepover at Mila’s house. She’s my friend’s sister’s friend. Her sister invited us over to keep her company because you couldn’t keep your fat mouth shut,” she fumed.

“Whatever. Have fun.” He ended the call and walked toward his car.

His friends had already gone home without him since he had football practice. They usually waited for him, but they were too mad at him to do so today.

“I guess it’s me—”

“Hi, Hayes. Can I hitch a ride with you?” Star, one of the cheerleaders, asked.

She was hot and had sexy curves.

“Of course you can.” He bit his lower lip as she joined him in the car.

Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea that the guys didn’t wait for him. And with Vanilla going for a sleepover, it looked like he had the night to himself.

It’s me and you, babe, tonight, he thought to himself.

“Where do you get off?” he asked after a while.

“I was thinking about your place.” She unbuttoned her top.

“Next stop, Hayes Miller’s residence.”

He drove faster as Star’s giggles filled the car, turning him on as they drove on.

Later that evening, back at Mila’s house, the sound of the doorbell interrupted the girls as they prepared for the sleepover.

“That must be them,” Willow said as she went to answer the door.

“You never told me your sister was the president of the dance team and her best friend the co-president,” Vanilla blurted out as she stepped inside.

“You must be Vanilla. Come on in.” Willow ushered her inside.

“Yeah, Vanilla Miller. And before you slam the door in my face, I’m sorry for what my brother did. He’s just a jerk. Not really a fan of his, though,” Vanilla confessed.

“It’s okay, hunny. Come in,” Mila said as the girl entered, letting out a sigh of relief.

“Thanks. I’ve not had much luck making friends once they find out Hayes is my brother. I’ve got mates, but they’re always trying to hook up with him. Sorry, Aaliyah, for not telling you earlier. I really don’t know what they see in him,” Vanilla added.

“Not to be rude or something, but have you seen the guy? He’s hot… except he’s the biggest jerk alive,” Willow stated matter-of-factly.

“Pffff… I’ve seen better,” both Mila and Vanilla said at the same time.

“Jinx! You owe me a drink,” Vanilla said.

“Are you serious?” Willow asked as she followed Mila into the kitchen.

“Yeah. Khalil’s way hotter. Bummer he’s gay,” Mila told her.

“Khalil is hot, but Hayes is hotter. No point arguing on this,” Willow said, carrying a bowl of caramel popcorn into the parlour. It was large enough for a sleepover.

Mila brought the drinks, chips, and sweets to the centre table. With everything ready, all they needed were the other girls.

Vanilla and Aaliyah had gone upstairs to have their bath and freshen up, leaving Mila and Willow downstairs.

“Hey, are you feeling better now?” Willow asked.

“Much better than before,” Mila replied with a smirk.

“Of course you do. Girls, the movie marathon is about to start! What the heck are you both doing up there for so long?” Willow screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Jeez, calm down. Mama called, and I was talking to her.” Aaliyah joined them with Vanilla in tow.

“What did she want?” Willow asked.

“The usual. Hello, hi, I sent some money, bye.” Aaliyah dismissed the conversation.

She wasn’t really a fan of her mom, and neither was Willow. Their mom hadn’t been there for them for a while.

All she cared about was work—here, work there—and a new arm candy for the week.

Willow had been like a mom to her baby sister. She was there for her every step of the way, and she always would be.

She was glad to have her as a sister. The best in the whole world.

EpilogueOne year along the line… Hayes stood by the door of Maryse 'room admiring how she had curled up beside his girlfriend in a peaceful sleep. They were currently in their final year of university. Remy and Raine were engaged to be married in a couple of weeks. Willow and Neo had welcomed their quadruplets , three girls and a boy. After Kaia's disappearance, he had not heard anything about her. She had not reached out to him about Maryse. Though he did not want her to, she should have made an effort just to prove that she cared. "How long have you been standing there?" Mila asked. He hadn't noticed she was awake and watching him. " Um, for a couple of minutes," his ears turned pink. Mila chuckled at him carefully getting out of bed in order not to wake Maryse up. Phebe and Niel were going strong. She was helping him manage the family business by interning there. She was happy for her friend with how things were falling in place for her. Mila had never imagined being w

Seems like someone is treating you nice, yes?" she asked about her brother." He is, and I am amazed at how fast a person could change. He's everything I've ever wanted in a man now," Phebe blushed making Mila 'awwwn' at the other end of the line." Yeah, babe, I will call you back in a few. He's taking me out on a surprise. “ Get a room love birds!” Willow screamed at Hayes and Mila from the penthouse. Hayes and Mila stood at the shore of the beach sucking each other’s faces off. They had traveled out to one of Khalil’s father’s penthouse which was close to the beach. They needed to bond before they headed back to school the following week. Mila smiled at her friends while walking along the shore with her boyfriend. “ Babe...Mila, I am tired of the back and forth between both of us. It's clear we both like each other but are too hotheaded to confess how we feel to each other. But, I am going to have to risk it. I've loved you from the latter part of our senior year till now and the love I have for you keeps growing each time I meet you. We've been on dates, been there for each other and all. All I want to ask is would you do me the honors of being my girlfriend?” Hayes asked her.“ You know you can do it in person instead of talking to a mirror and you know she will say yes right?” Mila said behind him smiling. He was too shocked to say anything because he wasn’t expecting her to be in the door way. She just walked majestically towards him and kissed him square on the lips before saying “ Hayes Miller, I would love to be your girlfriend,”“ It’s about damn time,” he replied making her chuckle.“ But I have a question,” she smiled mischievously.“ Please don’t ask why I was speaking to a mirror,”

“ Just listen to what he has to say Phebs,” Mila said to her friend. Phebe had attended the wedding and was spending the holidays with Mila.“ Why should I?” she asked frustrated pacing up and down the hotel room.“ Because he’s bugging me and most importantly, because you like him. No matter how you deny the fact, you do like him and I think he likes you too,”“ Why doesn’t he say it? He seems uncertain on what he wants Mila,” she tried convincing her.“ Honestly, I don’t know. I can’t tell, perhaps you can talk to him for answers,” Mila suggested. “ I will...eventually,” she murmured walking into the bathroom.Willow stood by the window staring at the gorgeous view in front of her.
