KADE’S POV

All my anger and the satisfaction I got from torturing Gordon disappeared, replaced by heavy trepidation as my mind zeroed in on that one word. Help.

For her to finally disclose her location and ask for help, Nora had to be in real trouble.

“Problem?” Gordon wheezed weakly.

I ignored him and walked out of the dungeon.

Zayne and Kaela stood outside, and they looked up at me as I appeared.

Andrea had opted to return to the house to stay with the twins. Shortly after she left, Kaela arrived to be with Zayne.

It all worked perfectly because I also didn’t want Andrea anywhere near the awful prison. And if she and Kaela stayed together at the packhouse without supervision, I would probably return to find it burned to the ground.

Kaela raised a brow, a hint of amusement in her bright green eyes. “That sounded real extreme,” she commented. She didn’t look or sound horrified like any normal person would if they heard Gordon’s blood-curdling screams.

“Was it worth it?” she asked.

BELLA’S POVI had never felt such a potent mix of emotions that threatened to sweep me off my feet and drown me.Looking at the man—at the werewolf—before me, I couldn’t understand how I wanted to slit his throat and kiss him at the same time. When my mother married my stepfather, I asked her countlessly how she could stand being married to a werewolf, a creature that should only have existed in fantasy novels and movies. She’d told me simply that he was her mate.It made even less sense to me. Were werewolves in such short supply that they needed to find their mates among humans?I didn’t wholly approve of their union. But I saw how happy my stepfather made my mother, so I swallowed my reservations. And when Ceecee was born… Well, I figured werewolves weren’t so bad after all. That was until…An enraged scream tore out of me, and I flipped the table next to me, sending all the tools and bottles shattering to the floor. The memory of what had been done to me, the torture I had suffere

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   CHAPTER 155: REJECT ME!

ANDREA’S POVIt seemed like the outside world was pretty intent on making its presence known. The gentle but insistent knock on the door snapped Kade and me out of the trance-like moment, and we pulled apart slightly.“Mommy, Daddy?” Luca called out. “Have you made up yet?”I chuckled, leaning my head on Kade’s chest. “Yeah, we have.”“Good.” Luca sounded mighty pleased with himself.“You can come out now,” Matteo announced.“Thanks for the permission, bud,” Kade said as his hand slid down from my waist and squeezed my ass cheek. “But maybe we want to stay in here a little longer.”I giggled, pressing into him. I’d missed this.“But what do we do with mommy’s phone? It’s been ringing for a long time.”I frowned. “Who is it?’“Aunty Gina.”I sighed softly. I hadn’t spoken to Gina since the twins ' birthday, with everything that happened afterward.I leaned up and kissed Kade. “Later,” I murmured against his lips.He squeezed my ass again, and bit my lip gently. “Later.”Then he stepped

ANDREA’S POVI perched on the edge of the bathtub with a sigh.Kade leaned against the door, and I couldn’t help but feel that he was trying to get as far away from me as possible.Tension hung in the room like a thick cloud, and I never understood the oxymoron ‘deafening silence’ until now.But I knew how this worked. When I locked my parents in the closet, I didn’t let them out until they talked and apologized to each other. So, I knew what I had to do.I took a deep breath and opened my mouth. “I—”“I’m sorry.”I looked up at Kade in surprise. I was the one who needed to apologize. Why was he saying sorry?I shook my head. “What do you have to be sorry for?”He sighed heavily. “Everything. Everything I did that made you not trust me.”I stood to my feet. “What makes you think I don’t trust you?”“But you don’t, do you?” he said. “Otherwise you wouldn’t…” Kade sighed. “Let’s just forget it and try to act normal with each other so the twins don’t feel the need to do…” He waved his ha

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   CHAPTER 153: YAWNING AWKWARDNESS

ANDREA’S POVI didn’t realize how exhausted by all the trauma and excitement that had happened I was until I lay down next to the twins to watch them sleep—and fell asleep myself. The bright rays of the early morning sun woke me up the next day, and I squinted, holding my hand up to block them out. With a start, everything that had happened came rushing back, and I jerked to the side, looking for my babies. An immense sigh of relief swept through me when I saw Luca and Matteo. They were cuddled on either side of me, still sleeping.I ran a hand down both their faces reverently. “Thank you,” I whispered—to Kaela, to the goddess. To all the forces that cooperated to ensure my children were still alive and safe.Gently, I moved, trying to climb out of bed without waking the twins. As I stretched an arm over Matteo, I froze. There, asleep on the floor by the door, was Kade.He was seated upright, his arms resting on his pulled-up knees. His head was resting against the door. Even in sleep

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   CHAPTER 152: SO MANY QUESTIONS

KADE’S POVI was by Kaela’s side in a flash. My eyes immediately snagged on what she was looking at.On the other side of the bed, beside the wall where the bedspread had been pulled off, was a scorch mark. At first glance, it looked like a regular burn mark, maybe from a fire, but on further investigation, it was anything but.First of all, the scorched part of the sheet was also ripped in four places. They looked like claws. The burnt marks led from the ripped scratches and stopped at the wall. Just above it was a mark that looked like a stamp burned into the wall.It was a triangular rune with a spiral eye at the center. It looked like it had been drawn with a clumsy thumb. And then, across it like a vicious slash, were the claw marks.I heard Zayne’s sharp intake of breath as he came up next to me. Stan had used the distraction to slink out of the room.“Kae,” Zayne breathed. “Is that—”“Yep,” she said somberly.“What is it?”“It’s the mark of a witch clan,” Zayne said.My eyes wi
