The phone slipped from Siron’s hand. Her mother’s possessed voice still echoed: “Your great-grandfather wants to meet.”

“Siron.”

Morat’s voice cut through her spiral of panic. She turned around. Morat stood there in his handsome form, but now he felt more real, connected directly to Siron’s mind through a silver thread she could just barely feel in her chest. She could sense Morat’s rage toward Alaric, his possessiveness, and a trace of warmth directed at her.

“That wasn’t your mother,” Morat growled, stepping closer. “It was Alaric’s bait. He is trying to separate us.”

Us. The word echoed within their new bond. Siron looked around her ruined apartment. She could feel every speck of dust, every shard of glass, and Morat’s presence filling the space.

“What do we do?” asked Siron, surprised by how easily the word ‘we’ had slipped out.

Morat grasped her arm; his touch was warm and strong. “We rise. Together.”

He pulled Siron to her feet. Her vision flickered. She saw another layer of rea

  • Shifter Deathbound Curse    Chapter 53: Hands from the Shadows

Morat’s cold claw on her shoulder made Siron stiffen. But that wasn’t the only touch she felt. Around her ankles, something else, thinner, slicker, like ropes made of solid darkness, was winding tightly. She looked down. Those shadow hands, not fully human in form but more like tendrils radiating from the blackened marble floor, had ensnared her.“Alaric!” Morat growled behind her, his voice seething with hate. “He is exploiting my weakness!”The golden light from the temple walls still trembled around Siron, not attacking her directly but not retreating either. Priest Gideon looked confused, his prayer momentarily halted, his eyes wide as he stared at the shadow hands emerging from his own temple floor.“This… is impossible,” the old priest mumbled. “The temple is protected!”“Not from her own blood,” Morat snarled. His voice sounded strained, pained. His claw’s grip on Siron’s shoulder weakened. The holy light, though blocked by Siron, was still affecting him. “Alaric is your ancest

  • Shifter Deathbound Curse    Chapter 52: The Medallion in the Pocket

The metal object felt like it was burning Siron’s palm. The silver medallion was simple, depicting a thorny sun, the exact symbol of Aethelford Temple that hung on its gates. The cold pierced right to her bone. And the reflection in the mirror.Siron spun around so fast she almost fell. There was nothing behind her. Only the semi-organized living room and the pale morning light. Morat was still standing by the window, his back to her, his shoulders looking stiff. But in the mirror just now…Her heart pounded like a war drum. She looked at the medallion again. Where did this come from? She had never owned anything like this. Her jacket had been empty yesterday. Did… did Morat put it there? As a warning? Or did this come from somewhere else?“You’re taking your time,” Morat’s voice broke the silence. He turned, his face still cold but his expression slightly softened. His blue eyes swept over Siron’s body, then stopped at her clenched hand. “What is that?”Siron slowly opened her fist,

  • Shifter Deathbound Curse    Chapter 50: Siron Trapped in the Bathroom

Darkness. Dampness. The sharp, stinging scent of mildew and bath soap.Siron was thrown onto the cold ceramic floor, her shoulder hitting the tiles with a dull thud. Her breath hitched. She heard the bathroom door in front of her, the door that had just opened on its own, slam shut, followed by the definitive click of a lock turning from the inside. She was trapped.Outside the door, a frenzy erupted: roars of fury, the sound of claws scraping against wood, and Alaric’s voice screaming commands to open the door. But the sounds were muffled, as if coming from behind a thick pane of glass.“Hello?” Siron called out, her voice trembling in the cramped, dark space. There was no answer.Shaking, she fumbled along the wall beside her, searching for the light switch. Her fingers found it. She flicked it on. The neon light above the bathroom mirror flickered several times before humming to life, casting a cold, white glare that stung her eyes. The bathroom was small, just a sink, a toilet, an

With her heart hammering against her ribs, Siron watched as Alaric’s green chains throttled Morat’s dark form. Morat’s scream still echoed in her head: “RUN! FIND THE RELIC!”Every instinct screamed at her to stay and help, but her common sense, what little of it remained, realized she had no power to stand against Alaric. She looked at Kit, who lay motionless, and then back at the struggling Morat. Tears of desperation tracked down her cheeks.“I’m sorry,” she whispered. She crawled toward Kit, grabbing her friend’s limp body. With an agonizing effort, she hoisted Kit onto her shoulder and began to run through the collapsing corridor, dodging the falling debris.Behind her, Alaric’s laughter grew louder, punctuated by Morat’s roars of pain. She didn't dare look back. After several turns, she found a spiral staircase leading upward. She climbed it, lungs burning, until she finally emerged into the deserted main hall of the Aethelford temple. It was deep into the night; there were no p

  • Shifter Deathbound Curse    Chapter 48: Siron Sees the True Form

The white explosion wasn’t a sound; it was a total annihilation of the senses. Siron was hurled into a void weightless, tasteless, nothing but a consciousness drifting among the debris of a collapsing reality. The scream of three voices, his own, Morat’s, and Alaric’s, braided into a single, elongated shriek that was eventually muffled into static hiss. Then, there was light. Not a blinding glare, but a dim glow like dawn breaking through mist. Siron felt himself standing in a place that was strange yet felt ancient. Surrounding him was a dense forest of towering trees, beneath a purplish sky where two moons hung low. The air felt denser here, heavy with the scent of damp earth and wildflowers.Where…?Moments ago, he was in the crumbling temple corridor. Now, this was somewhere completely different. He looked down at himself, or at least, his consciousness, and saw hands and feet, but they were translucent, like a ghost. And then, he saw them.In a clearing in the middle of the fores
