At that moment, Theo's mind was a complete mess.

Matty's performance had been too abrupt, too well-timed—he didn't even have a chance to react. He had never been in a situation like this before. Some of what Matty said was true, some fabricated, but Theo had been raised to never lie. Now, faced with this chaos, he had no idea what to say.
