The car ride home was painful and endless. Everything around me was dark except for the head lights ahead of the car and the lights from the radio and the dashboard. I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white. My jaw was clenched and my eyes sent a death glare to the long road ahead.

My mate wouldn't get out of my head. Her eyes. Her lips. Her face. Her hair. Her body. Her scent. It wouldn't go away.

The music on the radio was blasting through the speakers, trying to get her off my mind but failing. I could still feel her body pressed against mine, arms around my neck, her sweet scent suffocating me. Just the idea of her has my friend from down below stiff. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. I don't even know the girl. But she is my mate...Sighing, I turned my attention back to the road. Focus, I tell myself. ••When I reached home, it was way past midnight. In fact, it was pretty close to dawn. Like four o'clock. My eyes lids were attempting

  • Silent Alpha   Chapter Four

Hey, I was doing just fine before I met youI drink too much and that's an issue but I'm okay...A smile formed on my lips as my mate stepped back from the guy. 'This is my chance,' I thought to myself as I pushed my way through the swarm of bodies. Hey, tell your friends it was nice to meet themBut I hope I never see them again...My heart pounded faster with each step I took. The closer I got, the stronger her intoxicating scent became. I sucked in a deep breath when I stood a few feet away from her. She probably felt my presence, because she turned her head, her mesmerizing eyes meeting mine. My breath got caught in my throat when I saw emotions swirl in the depths of her irises. Slightly parting her lips, she stared at me with wide eyes. I know it breaks your heartMoved to the city in a broke down carAnd four years, no callsI licked my lips when she stared at me in disbelief. My eyes swept over her body, taking in appearance. A navy, knee-length dress blowing slightly in th

  • Silent Alpha   Chapter Three

Seconds ticked. Minutes passed. Hours flew by. Trees blurred as the car passed them. The road became two lanes when I got off the highway. The sun no longer hung at the center of the sky. Instead, it sat behind the tall mountains. The climate here was completely different compared to my pack. The mountains off in the distance had snowy caps and they looked absolutely beautiful. The trees in this coniferous forest were massive and blocked out a huge portion of the sky. My stomach churned, and I shifted in my seat, not feeling good. It was strange. The longer I stayed in the car, the closer we got to the pack, the more uneasy and anxious I felt. I didn't understand why I felt like this. I couldn't possibly be sick, because it was uncommon for a werewolf to get sick, especially an Alpha. Our immune systems were the best. My wolf seemed to be off in his own reality. He hadn't communicated with me during the whole trip. When I questioned him about this feeling, he didn't respond. Since h

  • Silent Alpha   Chapter Two

After cooling down a bit, I couldn't sleep. My wolf and I remained restless. Unconsciousness wouldn't take over, so I decided to go out for a run. My wolf needed to get let out. When I exited the house, I allowed the sweatpants to fall from my waist. I shivered slightly at the feeling of the cool air dancing across my bare skin. At the same time, I loved it.Once I was ready, I allowed my wolf to take control of my body. The bones shifted and rearranged themselves as blond fur poked through the skin covering me. When I completely shifted, I broke off running in the direction of the beach a few miles away, towards the southern borders. The cool breeze blew through my fur as I bolted. The moon lit the sky along with the millions of twinkling stars. The trees became fewer the closer I got to the coastal beach. I could faintly see the ocean off in the distance. A few minutes later, I reached the sandy coast line. The cool sand stuck to my paws as I trekked across it, nearing the water. Th

( 12 years later )Dust particles filled the air when I slammed the large, heavy book closed. A stressful groan escaped my lips as I angrily shoved it back on the shelf with the other books. "Anything?" I heard Darian's voice from the other side of the library. I shook my head and continued rummaging through the books, reading their spines. "There's gotta be something..." Darian mumbled as he pulled books off the shelves, opened them, and tossed the unhelpful objects somewhere behind him, yelling profanities at them. "Dammit! This is taking forever!" I rolled my eyes and held back the smile that attempted to make an appearance before going back to my search. We searched for hours, but found nothing. We really needed to find this book. I'd go insane if we didn't. Right when I was about to completely give up, my eyes caught sight of a book that fell over when I sorted through the books. My eyes danced over the words that displayed the title on the cover. I blew on the dusty leather,

  • Silent Alpha   Prologue

( 12 years ago )The road passed by in a blur as the car sped down the road. Rain pelted the windshield, making it difficult to see the road ahead. I slumped in my chair as uneasiness consumed me. "Mom, when are we going to get there?" I asked as I watched the trees sway in the wind. My mother turned in her chair and sent my father a quick glance before looking back at me. "We'll be there in a few minutes, Kaelith," she assured me with her warm voice. My parents took Darian, my best friend, and I to their meeting in a different pack located on the southern part of the coast. The pack was pretty nice. Darian and I had the opportunity to visit the beach with some of the other kids in the pack while the adults discussed. We built sand castles and swam in the ocean. "There's someone on the road!" my dad exclaimed as he honked the horn, slamming on the brake pedal in the process. I looked up and saw a person standing not too far in front of the car. The vehicle jerked forward, causing
