That word sank into me like a stone dropped into water—heavy, rippling, and touching everything inside me. It was the first time I heard this word and didn’t feel the fear crawling at my spine. That felt like destiny, the only thing I yearned for for a long time.

Moreover, I wanted to stay angry. I really did. Clinging to my frustration, I wanted to make Cassian realize that I wasn’t a fragile thing to be tucked away while he decided a world for me.

However, a part of me urged me to turn around, to look at him, to say something to him, so that my silence couldn’t hurt him. It was like my own soul was divided into two equally powerful rivals, forcing me to go in opposite directions.
