Cassian’s P.O.V.

I-I admire someone else more than her?

The accusation rang in my head, over and over, refusing to make sense. For me, there had never been anyone who stood above Liora.

She was my anchor, my weakness, and my strength. The one I loved without any accountancy. And for a man who had calculated his steps for his entire life, this love was the closest thing he had to a miracle.

Although her words twisted my heart in my chest, I leaned closer and spoke softly, suppressing the raging storm inside me.

“Then tell me, who is it? Who is the one he admires more than you?”

Her fingers fumbled with the buttons of my shirt, touching them absentmindedly as if the answer was too difficult to say out loud.

Then she tilted her head up, eyes glassy, lips pouting in defiance.

“Why should I tell you about my husband? You are a stranger. Just stay away.”

God!

Before I could stop her, she pulled away. Panic flared as Liora turned around and started walking in the opposite directio

  • Silent Howls   Chapter 98

Liora’s P.O.V.My head felt like it was splitting open. A sharp groan tore from my throat as sunlight stabbed through my eyelids the moment I tried to open them.I squeezed my eyes shut again and pressed my palm against my temple, only for the pain to throb harder, cruel and relentless.“Why…Why is my head pounding so much?”Groaning, I pushed myself upright, the room tilting dangerously. That movement sent a violent wave of nausea crashing through me. Oh, no!I barely made it off the bed before sprinting towards the bathroom. My knees hit the cold tiles as I hunched over the toilet, vomiting uncontrollably. My body shook with each retch, my throat burning, my eyes watering until tears streamed down my cheeks. By the time it stopped, I was trembling, exhausted, and hollow. After flushing the toilet, I leaned against the sink, turning on the tap. Cold water splashed over my face as I tried to steady my breathing. My reflection stared back at me, pale and miserable with swollen eyes

  • Silent Howls   Chapter 96

Cassian’s P.O.V.Liora didn’t inform me before going out. Correction: She thought I wouldn’t find out that she could sneak out like that and I would remain blissfully unaware. That thought alone made my jaw tighten. She didn’t even notice me in the corridor when she stepped out with Stacy, wrapped in an awful skirt that barely reached her mid thighs. My lycan surged forward instantly, growling possessively.“Stop her, Cassian. What the hell is she doing?”If it hadn’t been for the arguments earlier, I would have stopped her without a second thought. But it seemed like Liora needed a break from all the palace’s drama once. Although I let her leave, it didn’t mean I would allow her to roam in the city unprotected. Never! So, I followed her all the way to that hideous bar, making sure that she was safe. Now, I sat in my car in the parking lot, engine off, windows tinted, shadows swallowing me whole. Music thudded from inside the bar, muffled but persistent. My laptop rested on my lap

  • Silent Howls   Chapter 95

Liora’s P.O.V.The music thumped around us, the bar loud and alive, yet the moment felt painfully exposed. My breath came shallow as realization crashed into me. My hand felt hot against Adrian’s lips, his surprised inhale brushing my skin. For a heartbeat, he froze. Then slowly—dangerously slowly—his gaze dropped to my hand, his lips curving beneath my palm. And at that moment, it struck my mind: I had made a terrible mistake!Adrian’s amusing gaze was fixed on me as I pulled my hand back as if burned.“Well,” he drawled, leaning closer, his voice smooth and mocking. “This is interesting!”My stomach twisted. Alcohol buzzed in my veins, making everything feel unreal, but fear cut through the haze sharply. Adrian straightened, resting casually against the counter. He wore a white tank top that clung to his muscular frame, dark tattoos snaking down his both arms like living things. His smirk was devilishly calculated, too confident for my comfort. Before he could say anything else,

Liora’s P.O.V.“Out? For alcohol?”My heart pounded violently in my chest. I blurted out, staring at her in disbelief.“What do you mean? We have alcohol here.”I turned and pointed at the small bar corner in my chambers. The polished shelves, the crystal bottles, and the finest liquor the palace could offer. “There is some wine, whiskey, everything. We don’t need to go anywhere.”Stacy followed my finger, then rolled her eyes so hard that I thought they might disappear into her skull. “This?” She scoffed. “Nope. Absolutely not.”She waved a dismissive hand.“This is a royal sadness alcohol. It’s meant for quiet sipping and silent suffering. And what you need right now is loud music, dim light, strangers who don’t know you, and drinks that can burn your throat enough to make you forget your problems.”She then stepped closer, tapping my shoulder lightly.“You need to loosen up, Liora.”This definition of ‘loosen up’ twisted my stomach violently.“Stacy, no,” I said quickly, my hear
