LOGINHis tongue snacked out and licked the side of my neck. The heat and terror flooded into my body. Would it hurt? He nipped my neck and the anticipation was killing me. I was a mix of every feeling. His teeth scraped along my neck. Then quick pain; I yelped. The feel of his fangs entering my body was painful, but the pain was bearable.
I could feel everything. How big they were. I could feel the tips plunging deeper into my neck like they were getting bigger inside of my body. Then I felt the pull. My breath caught in my throat as the feel of his fangs moving in the skin became something different. It wasn't painful, more of a dull ache.
I grabbed for him and wanted to get closer. His fangs sunk deeper and a moan escaped my mouth. His soft chest heaved as my hips started to grind. I closed my eyes imagining everything we could do. Slowly he pulled his fangs free of my body. The delicious friction had me moaning again. His tongue found purchase over the wound and he licked once, twice, thrice.
His lips sucked the wound bringing it into his mouth. When he pulled away blood dripped from his lips onto his unkept beard. I stuck my thumb onto where the blood was and swiped down. He moaned as his tongue snacked out seizing every last drop. He grabbed my hand and sucked the blood clean off of my thumb. My body was sensitive. My core was slick. It was not the first time that I had this reaction but it was the first time that it happened so quickly. He picked me up and gently sat me on the bed.
“You need to rest. I will go hunting for some dinner.” His massive body towered over me and yet I couldn’t muster up fear. All that was left was tension. The tension I wanted to release so badly that I was aching. He licked his lips then left. As he walked out of the house the room became bigger. I tried to sit up but my head swam and I laid back down. A little while later I came back into the main room where Cedar was sitting in front of the fire. Cedar looked up at me, his pretty brown eyes swimming. I rushed to him and pulled him into a hug.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?” I pulled him this way and checked his body to make sure he was okay. The tears leaked onto his cheeks now. His little body was shaking so hard I wrapped myself around him just like when we were with mom.
“Are you going to be like mommy now?” His voice broke on the last word. My eyes shot open. I pulled him away from me and studied his face.
“Why would you ask me that?” My heart was in my feet. Oh My God! I don’t even know this man's name. Had this man hurt him? He shook his head. I forced him to look at me.
“Why?” Was all I could get out without completely breaking down.
“Mommy would bring men home. She would go into the room and shut the door. Then she would come out and be mean to us.” He was sobbing now. I didn’t think about what going into that room with that man might have done to Cedar. I had wanted to shield him from what might happen in the room. I pulled him into a tight hug. Then pulled him arms length away.
“I will never ever treat you like mom. I will always protect you. I will always love you.I will never hurt you at least not on purpose. And I will never put my hands on you. No one will ever put their hands on you.” I pulled him into my lap and we cried together. We cried in a strangers home that now I was determined to make our home. It took a long while before the big man came back.
So Cedar and I started to clean the place up. It was already fairly clean but making ourselves busy was good for our health. We danced and sang and mopped and sweeped. For this one moment we were happy and I could tell my little brother relaxed. Until a knock on the door sent fear into the pit of my stomach.
Cedar ran to my side and we waited. The door swung open and the big man stood brightening the doorway. A huge smile as he hauled his kill onto the small porch. It was a huge buck.
“We are going to eat good tonight.” He was already starting to skin the animal. His huge hands sliced with such precision for a moment fear lurched onto me. He looked back over his shoulder and smiled. A small sense of calm washed over me and I breathed deeply. Cedar ran back into the house hiding still unsure of this man.
“Is there anything we can do to help?” I truly wanted to contribute. With bloody hands he reached for me. He grabbed my hips and pulled me into a hug.
“All I want you to do is go make sure the boy is alright. He doesn’t seem to take to Telepathy.” I blinked. What was he talking about? Telepathy? It must have been written across my face, he chuckled.
“You know just now when you got scared and I soothed that fear. Your brother is one of the ones who can’t be soothed it seems.” I looked back over my shoulder to where Cedar is currently hiding.
“I’ll get this venison going and then start on Cedar’s room while there is still daylight.” I walked back into the hut and calmed Cedar. We played games and waited. Four hours later we were sitting at the table with huge bowls of stew in front of us.
“Eat up. I want both of you to get big and strong.” He took a huge bite and both Cedar and I ate happily.
The food wasn’t as flavorful as it had been at the manor but it was delicious. Cedar and I had two bowls while the big man had three.
The sun's rays felt good on my skin. I breathed the fresh air in. The grass felt good underneath my tired body. My muscles were aching. I turned onto my side. The room was almost completely finished. I sighed. I couldn’t wait until it was done. My brother would have a place to call his own. I rolled back onto my back.“Luc, Look.” I propped myself up onto my elbow. Cedar was standing bow in hand. He looked so confident with the bow stretched and his chin up. He let an arrow loose. It hit the target. He breathed in, nocked another arrow and let it loose. It also found the target.Oh My God! I jumped up and ran to him. I scooped him up into my arms. He was no longer that pitiful kid in the shack. His body had substance. My heart leaped out of my chest. I was so proud of him. I took his face in between my two hands and I kissed his fo
The man standing in front of me was frail. His height made him stoop. The moonlight captured his sunken eyes just right. He held a tome so thick I feared he would fall over. Despite its size it was a beautiful book. The outside was shiny black. Jewels dotted the front. The back was imbued with bright gold filigree. The man stood on an altar made of the same stuff. It was shiny black. It almost looked like water. I wanted so badly to reach out and touch it but I stopped myself. Something about this felt like a test. I don’t know why I got that impression but I dug my toes into the earth and clasped my hands behind my back.A slow rhythmic melody started up. The man on the altar started to chant softly. I couldn’t make out the words. I looked around the meadow. The moonlight did a glorious job of illuminating it perfectly. Wolfsbane dotted the meadow. The music became louder. I turned to se
“Okay Dove, the first thing you need to come to terms with is that you're small. So, your strongest weapon is your head.” Daire pressed two fingers into my forehead.“If you get into a situation where you can’t fight your way out, you need to finesse your way out.” Daire’s eyebrows rose high.“ The first step to finesse is to know your opponent and If you don’t know them. Then learn them.” He took a step in and pushed my left shoulder lightly. I stumbled back, almost landing on my butt.“Good you didn’t lose your balance. Helping me build the room has been useful with your back and core muscles.” This time he stepped into my space. As I took a step back he took one forward not letting up. I started to panic slightly. Before I knew it
I stood in the sunrise feeding the chickens. I have named every single one. Chiky, Elma, Vainy, Leerah, and HENderson. I smiled happily with my pun. There was no sign of the fight that happened last night. Daire got up before me. I haven’t seen him all morning. We were low on meat. I collected the eggs trying to dodge HENderson. He got me good on shin. I ran out, closing the gate behind me. Mean rooster. I sat the eggs on the porch. The morning smelled like the forest around the property. I smiled at the thought of a lifetime here. It was something I had never dreamed of. The carriage came into view strolling lazily up the road. Daire sat in the front. His stern demeanor would have made others believe him to be unkind. The truth was anything but. He was a big man but a kind one. His huge hands maneuvered the ropes with confidence. For a moment those hands were on my throat massaging the vein. Trailing my body until they landed on my hips g
Lucrezia! Lucrezia! My mother’s voice rang into my ears. I came around the corner terrified.“Yes? Mommy.” The booze was wafting out of her pores.“Come here you dumb child, this is all your fault.” Her hand lashed out and landed on my shoulder. “All of this is your fault.” Another blow landed on my back this time.“I wouldn’t have to do any of this if it wasn’t for YOU!” This time her fist connected with my side. I let out a squeak. Big fat tears started to run down my cheeks.“You want to cry, I'm going to give you something to cry about. I’m going to show you what I have to do to feed you.” All the pain was unbearable.
I shook my head. He silently watched as I fought with myself mentally.“ I don’t want to go back to your house. That woman isn’t safe. She…It doesn’t matter. I won’t go back.” He smiled. I couldn’t tell if he was angry. “Okay, then kiss me and I’ll give you the information.” My mouth dropped open. His eyebrows raised. Waiting for my answer. He stepped closer, invading my space. I shook my head. His hand snaked around the back of my neck holding me in place. My breath hitched. Our lips touched gently. The click I had felt with Daire happened. Except this time it was softer like someone pushed a button but it popped back up. I pulled away, not able to catch my breath. What was that? I searched his face for an answer.“Hey what’s going on over here?” Daire’
Breathe it was all I could think. Just breathe. The tears ran down my face, but no sound escaped my mouth. I didn’t want her to find us. My little brother Cedar was shaking in my lap. Warm liquid leaked onto me. I didn’t care we were going to stay hidden this time. “Lucrezia. Luuuuccrrrrreeeezia.
Our days went on like this. Time passed.Daire hunted and built Cedar’s room. Cedar and I practiced everything Daire taught us and I started to tend the house.&
We were all sitting in front of the fireplace watching the embers crackle. The big man reached for me and pulled me into his lap. I let him warm me.“Well, I guess since we are going to be family I should know you
I was so stupid. I had really thought that life could change, but it never does. I ran aimlessly not knowing where I was. The well manicured grass turned more wild as I hit a tree line. Clearly no longer Cadogen’s property. I ran until my lungs felt like they would burn out of my chest. I should hav
