Sofia

The warmth of the coffee, the sugar rush from the ice cream, and the weight of the shopping bags in my hands made me lighter. I felt like a normal twenty-one-year-old college student returning from a day out with her best friend, rather than a woman living a double life.

"I'm telling you," Clara laughed, swinging her Sephora bag as we walked up the pathway to the hostel. "That shade of lipstick is a power move. You wear that to your next presentation, and the professor will give you an A just out of fear."

I giggled, actually giggled. "I think I need to actually study for the presentation to get the A, Clara but the lipstick helps."

"Confidence is half the grade, babe. Fake it 'til you make it."

We rounded the final hedge that obscured the hostel entrance, our laughter ringing out in the quiet night. The laughter died in my throat instantly, my steps faltered, and the smile slid off my face when my gaze fell on Louis.

He was standing directly in front of the glass doors, his arm

Sofia I lay on the black sheets, my body still wet from the shower, trembling slightly as the cool air conditioning washed over my heated skin. I watched Luca, who stood by the side of the bed, his back to me. He was completely naked, his broad shoulders tense, the muscles in his back bunching and shifting as he gripped the phone. He walked away from me and I watched him talk on the phone, his muscles flexing. After a while, the call ended and he returned to the room, "Is everything okay?" I whispered, propping myself up on my elbows.Luca turned slowly. The cold, flat look in his eyes vanished the moment they landed on me. A slow, dark smile spread across his face. "Just noise, sunshine," he said.He walked toward the bed. I expected him to climb in, to take out his aggression on me right there on the mattress but he didn't stop at the bed. He reached out and grabbed my hand, pulling me up."Come," he commanded."Where?" I asked, stumbling slightly as my feet hit the floor."You'r

  • Sin With Me, Sunshine   41: The Garden of Eden

SofiaThe air hit me as I stepped out of the Jeep, my bare feet sinking into the warm, white stone of the driveway. The ride from the airstrip had been short, winding through a dense jungle that seemed to swallow the narrow road whole. But now, the trees opened up, revealing the destination. The villa wasn't just a house, it was a fortress of glass and stone built directly into the side of the cliff. It hovered over the turquoise ocean, suspended between the sky and the water. There were no walls, only floor-to-ceiling glass panels that had been slid open, "Welcome home," Luca said, coming up behind me.He didn't touch me, but I felt him."It's... unreal," I whispered, clutching the hem of the oversized t-shirt I had stolen from the jet. It hung to my mid-thighs, fluttering in the ocean breeze. "Are we the only ones here?""The staff stays in the lower quarters," Luca said, walking past me toward the massive front doors. "They are invisible unless I call for them. For the next week, th

SofiaThe drive to the private airfield was a blur of silence and speed. Luca drove with one hand on the wheel, the other resting heavily on my thigh, his thumb tracing slow, possessive circles against the fabric of my coat.He didn't speak, and neither did I. The air between us was thick with a tension that felt like a pulled rubber band, ready to snap at the slightest touch. I watched the city recede in the rearview mirror all shrinking until it was nothing but grey smudges on the horizon. We pulled up to a private hangar gate that opened automatically as we approached. Inside, parked on the tarmac like a sleeping predator, was a jet.It was matte black, sleek, and terrifyingly beautiful. There were no logos, no tail numbers that I could see just a dark shadow against the overcast sky.Luca killed the engine, and he turned to me, removing his sunglasses. "Phone," he said, extending his hand.I reached into my pocket and pulled it out. My screen was lit up with a notification, Luca t

Sofia I sat in the passenger seat, my hands folded neatly in my lap, staring out the window of Louis's car. "I was thinking about the reception hall," Louis was saying, "Your mother thinks the parish hall is traditional, but I was looking at the community center near the park. It holds more people, if we’re going to invite the neighboring congregations, we need the square footage.""Mmm," I hummed, watching a raindrop race down the glass."And the flowers," he continued, glancing at me briefly before returning his eyes to the road. "Lilies are standard for purity, of course but maybe white roses? They symbolize new beginnings and since we are… restarting, in a sense, it might be appropriate."He reached over and patted my knee. I flinched internally but forced myself not to pull away. "White roses sound lovely, Louis," I said, my voice sounding hollow to my own ears."I knew you’d agree," he smiled, satisfied. "I’m glad you’re back, Sofia. The last few days… they were a trial. A te

SofiaLouis returned to the room a few minutes later, clutching my phone, he held it out to me, his hand trembling slightly."Here," he whispered. "Your mother was in the kitchen, I took it."I didn't thank him. I snatched the phone from his hand, turning my back on him immediately to power it on. My fingers flew across the screen.Me: I'm okay, I'm safe. Returning to school soon. The reply was instantaneous.Luca: You better be. I was about to burn this city down to find you. When you're out, I'm taking you away. A week somewhere no one can find us. I need to remind you who owns you.Me: I love that.I locked the phone and turned back to Louis. He was staring at me, looking pathetic and torn."Take it back," I said, shoving the phone into his chest. "If I keep it, she'll find it put it back before you get caught.""Sofia, we need to talk," he pleaded, clutching the phone. "I... I realized I was wrong involving your family... I just pushed you away. I'm sorry."I laughed, I was so tir

SofiaWhen I woke up, the first thing I did was look at my hands. A flush of heat crawled up my neck as the memories of the previous night crashed into me. I flexed my fingers, watching the tendons move. I couldn't believe I had actually done it.I threw the covers off and walked to the bathroom.I filled the tub with hot water, watching the steam rise and fog up the mirror. I stripped off my pajamas and sank into the heat.I stayed in the water until my fingertips prinked, letting the heat soak into my bones. When I finally stepped out, I didn't rush to cover myself up like I usually did. I wrapped a towel loosely around my body, tucking it just above my breasts. It was short, barely skimming my mid-thighs, leaving my legs completely exposed.I was patting my face dry when a sharp knock sounded on the bedroom door. I froze, my mother usually just barged in. "Come in," I called out, not bothering to reach for my robe. The door opened, and Louis walked in."Good morning, Sofia, your mot
