The house was still when Amelia stepped through the front door, her heels echoing softly on the polished floor. The scent of lavender-his preferred calming fragrance, hung in the air like a fragile peace offering. She closed the door behind her and stood there for a second, coat draped over her arm, her bag slung low on her shoulder. Her eyes drifted across the living room, quiet and dim, the lights humming softly like the heartbeat of a home still learning how to breathe them in. She heard him before she saw him. The sound of pages flipping, a glass being set down, the scratch of thought in motion. In the study, the fire was low, casting sharp gold into the darkened corners.

Frederick was sitting behind his desk, jacket tossed over the arm of a nearby chair, sleeves rolled up, expression grim. He didn’t look up when she entered, but he knew she was there.

“You're back late” he said, voice hoarse from hours of silence.

“Clinic ran over,” she replied simply.

  • Sinful Arrangement   The Moment

SIX YEARS AGO The hotel room smelled faintly of rosewood and whiskey, and the bedsheets were already tangled around their legs. A single lamp cast a warm amber hue over the room, making the air feel hazy, intimate. Rain whispered against the windows like a lullaby for the city that never really slept. Amelia lay on her side, the silky strap of her lavender dress sliding further down her shoulder with every breath. Her cheeks were flushed, lips a little swollen from the kisses they'd already exchanged, and her eyes shimmered with tipsy mischief. One hand clutched the edge of the sheet over her chest. The other was folded under her cheek as she looked at him. "You still haven’t told me your name," she murmured. Frederick sat up slightly, his back against the headboard, chest bare and rising slowly. He smiled without answering right away. A lock of her hair fell over her face and he reached out to tuck it behind her ear, fingertips grazing her cheek. "Does it matter?" he asked.

  • Sinful Arrangement   The Storm Behind The Walls

The boardroom of Blackwell Empire was cloaked in tense silence, the kind that hummed beneath the surface like static before a lightning strike. Frederick sat at the head of the long obsidian table, hands clasped together, expression carved from stone. Amelia wasn’t here. She didn’t know yet. But he did. The clinic’s funding had been suspended. Luke stood by the window, arms crossed. Several board members exchanged polite, uncertain glances, waiting for Frederick to begin. Finally, he rose slowly from his seat, the scrape of his chair drawing all eyes. "Before we begin today’s agenda, I’d like to address a decision that was made without my approval or knowledge," he said, voice cool, but sharp enough to cut glass. "Amelia Hart’s clinic funding was revoked by the finance arm yesterday afternoon." A murmur spread across the room. "That clinic wasn’t just a PR initiative or a pet project. It was a lifeline to thousands of people in the community. And more importantly, it was part of

  • Sinful Arrangement   Shadows of Truth

Two suited security men lingered near the entrance of Hart Medical as the sky dimmed to a melancholic shade of lavender. They were hard to miss, standing like statues, arms crossed, earpieces flashing every few seconds. Amelia caught sight of them through the tinted glass door as she wiped her hands clean of antiseptic. Jane raised an eyebrow beside her."Bodyguards or federal agents?" she asked dryly."Security, I think. Frederick probably sent them," Amelia murmured."Probably?" Jane repeated, crossing her arms. "After everything this week? You should be sleeping with them on either side of your bed."Amelia offered a weak smile, too drained to argue. The staff had already left for the day, but she remained behind, finishing charting, pretending she still had control over her life. She didn’t.At 7:06 p.m., the clinic door chimed as she stepped out. One of the men silently opened the back door of the black car waiting at the curb. She slid in, flowers from a grateful patient resting

  • Sinful Arrangement   Scandal and Power

The day started too calmly for what was about to erupt.Amelia kept her focus trained on the digital chart in front of her, scribbling short notes onto her tablet as she moved between patients. The white coat felt heavier today, like it was holding the weight of the entire city’s judgment. She had managed to avoid the news for most of the morning, until one of the nurses showed her the headline during a coffee break.**FREDERICK BLACKWELL ACCUSED OF FATHERING CHILD WITH FORMER LOVER. WHO IS HIS MYSTERY WIFE?**The article was brutal. The photo, even worse with Frederick at a press event, cold and calculating, with an inset photo of a woman Amelia had never seen before, smiling and clutching her baby bump like a trophy. Underneath was a single quote: *"He left me for her. I hope she's ready for what she's gotten into."Jane had stormed into the staff break room moments later, her phone clenched in her hand, hair half up in a hurried ponytail. "You're not going to hide from this, M. If

Two days later, Luke knocked raptly on the apartment door. Amelia who was making toast rushed to the door. He stood beside the open door, suit jacket sharp, expression unreadable. “The penthouse is ready to live in again. We moved your things back there.""Well, good morning to you too. Or is everyone up there just mannerless?"Luke surpressed a laugh. "Morning Amelia. My bad, I was just given orders.""Let me guess. He sent you here? You could have just emailed me or...I don't know. Called?""He insisted I tell you myself and also...ask you to move back in. Personal opinion, just do it for the contract. You can avoid him if you want.""You're a smart one, Luke."She didn’t argue. Not because she wanted to go. Not because she missed him. But because she signed a contract—a deal inked in urgency and desperation. Ninety days of being watched, monitored, assessed. She had agreed to play the part of a wife to a man who still managed to haunt her thoughts even when she wanted to forget him

  • Sinful Arrangement   Shadows On The Glass

Rainclouds still hovered low in the afternoon sky when Frederick stepped out of the car in front of Hart Wellness Clinic. His security detail didn’t trail him this time. He'd insisted on going alone. It wasn’t just about protocol today, or investments, or monitoring. It was about the ache he couldn’t name, the way Amelia's absence clawed at him in the silence of the house. He needed to see her. He wouldn’t say that out loud-not to Luke, not even to himself. So, he wore his suit like armor, walked like a man in control, and told himself it was business. Inside, the clinic buzzed with low energy. Nurses shuffled about, patients waited in silence, and the air smelled faintly of antiseptic and lavender- a scent Amelia insisted on diffusing in every hallway. His eyes found her before his breath could catch up. Amelia stood at the far end of the corridor, clad in light blue scrubs, a stethoscope draped around her neck, her hair pulled back in a functional bun. She hadn’t seen him yet. She
