“Your majesty, we have looked everywhere, I don’t think there are sirens.”
Holden reports for the fifth time this week, he had been tasked with the search of a certain siren that attacked Dean, but it seems there is no way to be found.
“Also, it seems the queen and second prince has stopped their mermaid kidnapping.”
“Is that so I wonder what that woman is up to now.” Dean sighs, he knows his stepmother well enough, she is the woman that gaslighted him into killing thousands at a tender age of 10.
“And the new alpha for the Crescent pack is here to see you.” Holden says before holding his breath for an outburst, wolves and vampires we natural enemies but Dean Stoker and Arnoux Crescent were a different type of enemies.
Arnoux Crescent was always known as the alpha of his pack from the first time he breath the oxygen in this earth just like how Dean was a crown prince from birth. And with Arnoux’s mother's relationship with the late vampire queen, Dean grew close to Arnoux, and they became friends.
Though they had always had a nemesis type of friendship, it was clear they were friends by the number of times they would stand up for each other.
But like any other relationship their friendship turned sour, and everyone knows why it turned sour.
“Tell him I am not here.” Dean replies to Holden.
“Oh... how courageous of you your majesty.” Arnoux barges into the office, he goes to seat at the couch not paying any attention to the glare Dean had subjected him to.
“What do you want?” Dean argues, “you know I don’t like you.”
“Huh... I don’t care, I am here to talk to you about something important deal with it.” Arnoux says half-heatedly.
“Get out or else.”
“Or else what? You will add my blood to your collection? How cunning of you, my friend.” Arnoux snorts, “it is my mother’s blood that made you the strong vampire you are, no need to be cocky.”
With that statement Holden had turned pale, he knew where this was going once this topic was mentioned the two friends would turn into foes.
“You know I was young; I didn’t mean to.” Dean shouts.
“Young? We warned you, no, I warned you to not listen to that witch, and you went along and listened to her. Do not blame age for your stubbornness.”
The two men had already elevated their anger in which even Holden had feared for his safety, he had hoped they would have resolved it by now but 14 years later and they still fight about the same thing.
“Can you both calm down for a bit.” Holden asks.
“Don’t tell me what to do stupid bloodsucker.” Arnoux shouts at Holden angrily, his blue shirt holding for dear life and his purple eyes shining with the thirst for blood.
“Don’t yell at Holden, you are here to confront me not him.” Dean says angrily, but Arnoux just rolls his eyes and instead of snapping at him he sighs before seating down on the couch.
“I am not here to fight. I came in peace.”
“You sure have a funny way to show this peace you came with, since when did shouting warrants peace.” Dean mocks making Arnoux growl.
“Um... your majesty, I think you should give Mr. Crescent a chance to say why he visited.” Holden says.
“Well, Mr. Crescent should start talking about what he wants because his wolfy scent is giving me sinuses” Dean says before snorting to mock Arnoux.
“I heard you mark disappeared.” Arnoux says, ignoring Dean’s previous dig at him.
“Where did you hear that?”
Dean asks Holden to see if he is the one who leaked the information as he had not told anyone about the disappeared mark.
“News travel fast you know, especially one concerning the big bad vampire crown prince.”
“But only two people know about the mark disappearing, I haven’t even consulted the mage about it.” Dean says condescending.
“By two I take it you are including that little vampire who is too full of herself she even calls herself the crown princess.” Arnoux mocks.
“Don’t talk to Anne like that Arnoux.” Holden scolds, “you have no right.”
“Hahahaha…...” Arnoux laughs, “you shouldn’t defend that witch that much, I still think Dean is a better vampire that her, that should mean a lot given that filthy man over there killed my mother.”
“You and his majesty had always been friends though.”
“So? Little miss conceited is not someone you should trust; I am sure you know that too.” Arnoux looks at Holden who tries to deny the statement but could not.
“Are you here to criticize Anne and tell me I killed your mother?” Dean asks angrily, “if that is all, you may leave, I have enough trouble on my plate.”
“But you are the one who asked how I got the information your highness,” Arnoux mocks, “and if Holden didn’t tell me, it means little miss Anne told someone, because I found out from someone, I hired to tail you step mother.”
“I will deal with Anne, you may leave.” Dean says firmly.
“I am not here to talk about spies in you circle.” Arnoux sighs before he continues, “I want to know how you made the mark disappear.”
This is received with only confusion by both Holden and Dean, Arnoux Crescent had never looked so vulnerable and it somehow scared them.
“What do you mean? Why would you want to know how I made the mark disappeared, it is not like you have it.” Dean smirks, well he didn’t expect Arnoux to have the mark, given he had already met what wolves would call Luna and mate.
But Dean’s expectations are completely shattered, Arnoux is silent for a few moments, but he sighs the said. “This better stay between us, if you tell your little spy I will murder you.”
“Who would want to know anything about you?” Dean tries to joke so he can mask the concern he has for his friend, I mean enemy.
Arnoux had unbuttoned his shirt and turned around showing his bare back, with it, a large mark, consisting of green scales. Dean and Holden had widened their eyes, Arnoux Crescent had told them and the rest of the world lies about finding his mate.
Good dayThank you so much for supporting me up until now. Writing this I learned a lot of things. Walking this long journey with me, through writer's block, broken laptop, restoring every story from scratch and all, I am happy that we are able to see Dean and Avisa's stor conclude. Thank you for the support and constructive feedback.Regards, MonarchTheFirst.
[Ophelia’s POV]The war had taken so much from us, but it also gave us a lot of lessons. When Avisa told me that she would be stepping down, I was not surprised at all.Avisa was not one to aspire to lead. For some reason, I felt like she had planned this all along. From the first day she declared that I was not just her second hand, I was her sister. She was going to give me the throne, and her leaving to see the world didn’t surprise me either. We had only lived in a secluded area of the sea, and Avisa was naturally curious. She wanted to see more than just the sea corals.“Your highness, someone is here to see you,” taking over as crown princess was not as challenging as Avisa had somewhat trained me to be so.Having to boss around Aran was just an icing on the cake, but the problem lies in him, the man that couldn’t stop visiting.“Your highness,” said Arnoux Crescent, the man who used his positi
[Avisa’s POV]The war was surely turning out to be too much. I could feel fatigued from the hours of fighting. I didn’t know when it would end, but I wanted it to end positively. I had seen them almost take my best friend and slash my father’s face.We fought a formidable opponent, and the cause of it all, the cause of Penelope Stoker, she had caused it all.I wanted her head, the head of the woman who took my mother, the woman who turned my mate into a sob story. She needed to be taken down, and maybe in my pursuit I got distracted. My father and Ophelia’s screams in union jolts me awake to a vampire behind me attacking me.It is Jordan’s stoker that takes the attack head on, taking all the damage. Dean immediately secures my back as Penelope is attacking me as well.I felt dazed, it seemed Mr. Stoker was taking his last breath, “Focus Avisa!" Dean screamed at me.“Your…... your father
[Ophelia’s POV]My aim was one thing: I had told Avisa already what I wanted, to kill my mother, for killing my father because of her insecurities.I wanted to see her face when I, the daughter she was so ashamed of her, killed her. I wanted to see her eyes when I disappointed her just when she took her last breath.I hated how she was rescued; they should have left her there so she could suffer, but at least she was helping us take care of the enemy.Getting closer to her was quite hard, but soon I was face to face with the woman that gave birth to me.“How does it feel, mother? Do you feel dumb now?” she clearly was not swallowing her pride because she attacked me as I spoke. But she was already weakened, and her slaps were very weak. Her nails couldn’t even scrape me.“This is what you get for being so stupid,” I repeated the words she had told me repeatedly when she would beat me up after Avisa
[Dean’s POV]The war started as quickly as Penelope arrived. We were clearly outnumbered, but one this is for sure they underestimated my little Avisa, because half of the vampires were charging. We were stopped by one scream from my Avisa alone.“What is that?” Arnoux said, pointing to a machine drawing blood, with someone hooked in the middle.“My mother,” Ophelia says, appearing next to him. He seemed startled when he saw her. “How pathetic, she probably thought they would treat her like a queen. Now she is just an endless blood supply. Kill her first.”Ophelia’s command comes as a shock to most. If that was her mother, why would she want her dead? She clearly looked at me, sensing my judgement.“What, she has already chosen her side? We need to stop more vampires from powering up, so she needs to be taken out.” She was firm and decisive, clearly not playing like a perfect daughter at a
[Avisa’s POV]In many tales of the first blood that she had read, and in all of them, her ancestors ended up in humiliation. If it was not for the sun and the sea, they wouldn’t have survived. This time she needs to change the reign, they need to end up victorious, they need to show the fury of a siren.“You look ready,” her father’s voice jolts her awake, “my daughter, whatever happens today, I will protect you and see to it that you survive.”He hugged her before giving her a kiss on the forehead. The best warriors of the sea were gathered. As confident as I was, I still fear the unknown.“Father,” I said softly, “I don’t want the throne.”Bold words to say before a war, but I felt like, with the ambiguity of this war, I needed to let my father know that I really had no dream of being a successor. He giggles softly, “I know, and I am okay with it. I made p
