Benjamin quickly got down on his knees as he saw Martha’s left ankle moving abruptly, believing the cause of her pain must be somewhere there only.
As he held her ankle in his own hand, Martha very slightly lost balance to which Benjamin raised his other hand for Martha to hold on to in order to balance herself. As he investigated the degree of the cut on her ankle made by the string, Martha balanced herself by holding his father hand and another hand resting on the restaurant walls. Honestly, she didn’t feel any sort of pain even if the skin was cut deep by the string, for she was finally able to see his father being sensitive and precautious towards her which she felt was enough to survive even the greatest of pain.
In a nutshell, she wasn’t experiencing any sort of pain but was rather delighted. Her mother soon arrived at the scene as Benjamin was keenly engaged in determining the nature of the wound. At prima faci
That’s when she discovered a file kept in the glove box which she never saw before. As her mother was keeping the first aid kit back in to the glove box, Martha came up with a question to ask her, “Mommy, why did you go out of the restaurant before any of us? Were you seeing somebody outside?” Hearing this, Cindy quickly shut the glove box and said, “That’s none of your business Martha.” She was somewhat taken aback by the response of her mother over such a small question.Only a couple of minutes ago she was exhibiting her motherly nature towards me by making sure the safety pin don’t hurt me while she dressed my wound. And now she acts as if she is my stepmother who answers every question from her stepchildren just to avoid their presence. They kept traveling in the same direction until she saw a sign that her grandmother had told her way long ag
“At least I can share my feelings with a tree” smiled Martha. “Everything would become normal as it was once we had reached granny’s place. She’s the only person at this time I can think of who’d understand me.Of course Matthew as well but it’s impossible for him to reach out to me and hug me tightly and say repeatedly how much he missed me and how worried he grew when I didn’t show up at the Sunday gathering. I wonder if he’s even missing me or not.If yes, I hope he misses me in a good way and not curse me for not meeting him today” she again lost in talking to her own self. She just waited patiently to reach to her granny’s home which, as per Martha, was just half an hour away from where they were driving. So lost she was in her thought that when she came back to the reality, she found the window next to her was all covered up
Martha kept on enjoying the view outside, not opening the window only to get scolded. The car was moving at a standard pace until the car slowed down. Martha, who sat by the left window of the car, didn’t realize the deceleration till the time she the four wheel drive deviate from the usual route to its right. She observed the view on her left going behind her sight as they moved towards their right. She suddenly turned to her father who had turned the steering to the right to make a turn.It bewildered Martha and made her rethink the route to her granny’s place.“But this is not the route to go to granny’s place. Where we are even headed?” she thought to herself, still being unable to question either of her parents. She took a look of the road they were supposed to dri
Because so far I have been going towards this man’s house there seems to be no human settlement nearby this area at all. What kind of a psyche is he? He is surely mad enough or should I say, ascetic enough to give up on all worldly attachments that he is living far off inside a field” Martha kept blabbering to herself. It has been one hour and they still had not reached the destination.“It is going to take a while” answered her mother when Martha inquired to her how long it will take to reach the destination.“A while? What sort of an answer is that? Depending on this situation the three of us are in, ‘while’ can be interpreted as another one hour by me and as a whole day of traveling inside these fields” argued Martha with herself only since she couldn’t argue with her mother to seek the explanation of whi
But how long has it anyway been for our relationship to grow? Hardly a day” Martha kept giving herself excuses to escape the question for whether Matthew was in love with who she is or simply interested in how she looks or what assets she had got.“Who gets intimate with his girlfriend on the very first day of relationship? Also, what would happen if I deny him to have those intense moments and turn a deaf ear to his silly jokes? Would he still love me the way he used to do when I would give in to his desires and laugh at his jokes? Huh, poor Martha and her fancy tale of getting loved unconditionally.Ugh, these sessions of self-speaking are good but I am way too much into them than I should be. I need to speak to someone. Not either of my parents for sure but someone else. There are two people I need the most right now. Not both appearing at once but the presence of either one of t
Therefore, the whole region depended predominantly on agricultural activities and it would be a choice of a fool to seek inhabitation nearby such a barren land. Benjamin drove a little farther from the exit from the fields to reach a place where there were big rock lying on the ground on to which a person could sit to take some rest, usually someone who would have come all the way from the fields. He stopped the car nearby the stones. He came out of the car followed by Cindy. Martha preferred to stay where she was seated until Cindy said, “Come outside Martha, you will feel better and after sometime we will resume our journey.” Martha did as her mother told her to do so.She was not out of her senses. She now acted in adherence to only one principle, ‘Do as mother say’ and hence she acted accordingly. Somewhere in her heart, she knew something is just not right at all.But she had lost the valor t
Martha was the last to board the car and they continued their journey. Benjamin drove in the direction Cindy had been looking in when she sat on the rock.Martha still not convinced if this is going to be the route they would be continuing their journey on until her father began to stride on through the motor vehicle. “Here we go again” she mumbled to herself. This time too, the path followed a narrow lane, however broader than the one they have been driving through for the past few hours.Again, there were trees flanking either of the sides of this lane. The road seemed more developed than the last one since there were less uneven patches in itBenjamin was accelerating more this time as compared to their travel experience with the previous lane since he had lesser number of uneven patches to deal with. The car was yet moving at a
What is it you want to figure out in that?” asked Martha. Cindy, for the first time today, was at a loss of words.Martha, realizing that, further added, “Also, you want me to be sitting inside the car while daddy do lift the car with the jack.Wouldn’t that be burdensome for him?” Cindy was clearly bewildered as to what should she even reply to her valid arguments.Martha finally spoke, “What are you two hiding inside that trunk? I have already seen my travel baggage there. What else are you two hiding.” Her parents exchanged a look at each other and were clearly now in a state of bewilderment. Martha, realizing it is the perfect time to find the secrets out, quickly went and grabbed the handle of the trunk. She then lifted the trunk only to be taken aback by surprise. Not just Martha’s travel baggage was kept i
