Chapter 8

Author: Sally Stone
It didn't take long for word to spread—people claimed Stella was a medical genius without the degree to prove it. Soon, people were lining up, willing to pay thousands to consult her on the live stream.

One day, she called to threaten me. "Sylvia, who cares if you didn't clear that up? I've already made it to the top! If you know what's good for you, divorce Kyle and leave with nothing!

"I have millions of fans now. Believe me, I have plenty of ways to make you and that doomed child of yours suffer!"

What kind of fool would trip over the same spot twice? Stella barely recovered from the fallout of the hype, and now here she was, smug as ever.

Smiling, I said, "Instead of wasting your time coming after me, why not treat yourself to all your favorite food? You might not have another opportunity."

Stella stiffened. Before she could ask what I meant, I hung up, leaving her stewing on the other end.

That same night, Stella went live again. She picked up a call, only to find herself co

"I must've lost my damn mind!" Kyle cried out. "That bitch Stella tricked me! We've been together for so long, Sylvia. Are you going to let me rot in prison? "Besides, our baby just got here. He needs his father! Please, just drop the charges. If you do, we can still make this work. I swear, I'll be a better husband and father!"I threw the divorce agreement in his face. "You and Stella have been scheming this whole time just to get your hands on my inheritance, haven't you? Well, too bad. You're not getting a dime of that money."And on top of that, you'll have to split half of everything we bought after we got married. The house, the cars—all of it."Holding Kyle's resentful glare, I said slowly and deliberately, "Kyle, you and Stella dug your own graves!"The verdict came as no surprise. With multiple charges against them, Kyle and Stella were each sentenced to 15 years behind bars.Billy and his mother, as accomplices, got just over a year, along with a court order to cover

"If you've got time to throw that passive-aggressive crap at me, maybe figure out how to graduate first, you idiot!" I tore into Stella and ended the call. Then, I blocked every way Kyle could reach me. I wasn't about to give them the chance to talk back.I knew they wouldn't let me off that easily—they still had their eyes on my massive inheritance. The only thing ahead of me was more of their scheming. As expected, Stella went live that night. With the audience she already had, it didn't take long for curious viewers to flood in.The setting appeared to be her study, packed with medical books, and even her desk was covered in neatly written notes. She held her ground despite the flood of hateful comments. "Does a degree define everything? I may not have one, but my expertise speaks for itself! What truly matters is that I want to save lives. Insult me all you want, but you have no right to question my devotion to medicine!"Suddenly, Kyle appeared on camera, and the hateful com

Before long, the Internet was overflowing with sympathy for Stella. Media outlets eagerly lined up for interviews with her. She smiled innocently, seeming vulnerable and pitiful in the video."Thank you all for your kind concern. I'm feeling much better now. I'll still step forward to help if a similar situation arises. Our duty as doctors is to save lives, after all. Even though Sylvia hurt me, I still believe in humanity. I'll keep fulfilling my duty as a doctor. I hope you all can trust us more!"A single video was all it took for netizens to hail Stella as "the most beautiful doctor". She might not have received an official title, but nearly everyone knew her name by now.The wave of praise she was riding felt like the one she enjoyed in my previous life. Even the hospital where she interned considered making an exception to let her pass her evaluation. This was the moment I was waiting for. I wanted reality to smack her in the face, right when she thought she was at the peak o

"As her husband, I say she needs a C-section!" Kyle declared loudly.I thought everything was over until the train conductor came, drawn by the commotion. With the last of my strength, I grabbed the hem of his shirt and forced out my plea. "Someone is trying to force me into a C-section! The next station is only 20 minutes away. I'm already feeling better. I don't need to give birth here!"Stella handed the train conductor a sedative. "Please help me restrain her. We must proceed with the surgery."I shook my head desperately, trying to say something, but I saw the train conductor take the sedative from Stella without a second thought. He was getting ready to inject me.I hoped to escape this nightmare, but unexpectedly, the conductor turned out to be on Kyle and Stella's side all along. With no other choice, I pressed the emergency button on the armrest with everything I had.A deafening alarm blared through the train car, and everyone froze. That split-second pause was all I ne

I was trying to buy some time, hoping the train would reach the next station before anything happened. But Kyle picked up on what I was doing almost immediately. While everyone's attention was on Stella, he suddenly pressed hard against my stomach. The pain was blinding. He seized the moment and shouted, "She's a med school graduate! How could that be fake? My wife is at her limit! Move aside and let the doctor deliver this baby!"I couldn't let Stella near me. She stepped forward, but I shoved her back with everything I had left."Stay away from me!" I warned. "I'm not letting you deliver my baby! Just because you went to med school doesn't mean you're licensed! Which hospital are you working at? I'll call your director and verify it myself!"Stella's face twisted in rage, and she bellowed, "Can you stop acting insane? The baby's life is more important! You and the baby could be in danger if we fail to get the C-section done in time!"I didn't believe her for a second. My strug
