6. Dare to Touch Him

Nicolas' jaw dropped, the man couldn't believe what this strange girl in front of him had said about her status.

Fifteen minutes ago, Nicolas had just managed to open his eyes. When he woke up, this was the strangest moment he had ever felt. Nicolas couldn't describe it because the sensation was really strange.

His mind was dazed and Nicolas couldn't understand why he couldn't remember anything, even his name. The man just kept silent and stared blankly without saying much. Once again, he was still confused with himself.

Just imagine, when you wake up and you find your soul in a body without any memory, even your own identity, then you will be very hypothetical. Luckily Nicolas's nervous system still has linguistic abilities and remembers languages. So, when someone dressed in a white coat checked and asked him to talk, Nicolas was still able to communicate although he remained mostly unresponsive.

"Why can't I remember anything?" he thought without talking. He stared intently at Dianne's face, hoping to find a clue so that a bit of memory would pop into his mind.

However, the result was nil, he did not know himself, let alone know this girl. His mind was blank and Nicolas could only pensive silence.

On the other hand, Dianne was quite surprised by her own answer. She knew she was desperate, but how could she think of claiming to be the fiancé of Nicolas, the CEO of Zero Attitude?

"Is that true, Miss Dianne?" Dr. Edward’s voice was heard.  Dr. Edward broke Dianne's reverie. "Did you just say that you are the fiancé of this patient?"

Dianne blinked her eyes so it wouldn't look weird. Her eyes glanced at Police Randy who was now looking at her in disbelief, the police seemed very suspicious of her.

"Of course, Doctor. I am the fiancé of Sir. Nicolas,” Dianne said quickly, shrugging casually as if this wasn't something to question.

"Sorry, I have to interrupt this conversation." Suddenly Police Randy spoke up, he had been holding his silence ever since. There were so many things he wanted to ask Nicolas who survived the hit-and-run, but the thing that surprised him, even more, was Dianne's statement that the girl was the victim's fiancé.

"Why didn't you tell us right from the start that you were Mr. Nicolas's fiancée, Miss Dianne?" asked Police Randy in a sharp tone, but still polite and firm.

"You didn't ask," said Dianne, who was now very nervous.

“But it should be a status that doesn't need to wait to be asked. You can immediately reveal that you are Sir. Nicolas's fiancé," said Police Randy.

Dianne frowned in annoyance, this cop was trying to corner her even though it was this cop who made her have to make this decision. "You suddenly took me to the police station, when you suddenly made me a suspect, I was just very confused," defended the girl. "I already said that I couldn't harm Mr. Nicolas, and now I have to tell you that I am the fiancé of this man. So what do you want me to do?"

"Yes, but in my investigation, there has been no statement from any party including from social media that Sir. Nicholas is engaged," said Police Randy, expressing his doubts. He thought, there was something odd about the phenomenon that occurred. Dianne did not reveal her identity, but as soon as she found out about the victim were amnesia, suddenly, the girl admitted to being her fiancé.

Dianne swallowed hard. It seemed she had underestimated these cops too much. Look now the policeman is looking at her as if he wants to stab her with those eyes. Dianna held her breath, what answer should she answer?

"We are still keeping this engagement a secret, sir," said Dianne casually, throwing up whatever ideas she could think of. "Me and Sir. Nicolas agreed to let the public know about our relationship soon, but … oh no, look my dearest now.”

Dianne returned to acting dramatically to the point of crying sadly while looking at Nicolas, who had only been listening with a blank mind. Dianne wiped the tears that managed to fall from her cheeks with the back of her hand, then chattered again as if she was the most grieving fiancé in the world.

"Oh, Honey, I don't care if you don't remember me, but ... I, as your fiancé, I am very grateful that you are safe, honey," Dianne cried. “You will be all right, I am here.”

Dianne looked at everyone in turn with moist eyes. "If it weren't for my fiancé's amnesia, maybe I wouldn't have had to break our commitment to keep our relationship a secret."

Dianne's incredible skit was finally enough to make Police Randy not interrupt her anymore, though the cop and his partner were still staring at Dianne with suspicion and disbelief.

Dr. Edward, who had been watching Dianne's behavior since earlier, wanted to believe her, but for him, that was an unimportant thing. He only cares about the safety and progress of Nicolas at this time.

"Ah, thank goodness!" Dr. Edward chuckled in relief. “He has his guardian now. The hospital had difficulty contacting Sir. Nicolas’s family. But finally, he will be safe with his fiancé," smiled the doctor.

Dianne just smiled with a sad face, pretending to wipe her tears again. Indeed, Dianne didn't think she could have this kind of acting talent. Ah! If it wasn't for Nicolas's amnesia, she certainly wouldn't have claimed to be his fiancé so openly.

“Try often to speak with Sir. Nicolas, Miss Dianne,” said Dr. Edward looking back at Nicolas with an emotionless stare. "Hopefully that way his memory can open up a bit."

"Yes, prove that your relationship with the victim is a true fiancé," said Police Randy who wanted to attack one last time. Once back from the hospital, he had to redo his investigation and make sure that what Dianne had said wasn't some false alibi.

Dr. Edward didn't like this police sentence, he thought it was very impolite. Talking about the investigation in front of the victim, but, the doctor did not want to get involved in conflict between these two parties. His job is just to focus on healing patients.

Dianne held her breath, her brain thinking about what show she could put on the two cops who still looked so suspicious of her. It would be a nightmare if he was caught lying when she was suspected of being the perpetrator of the crash.

Dianne brought her hands up to Nicolas' cheeks and cupped both of his cheeks with her palms. It was really very awkward for Dianne to do this, her fingers shaking as she caress the CEO's cheek.

Now, Nicolas looked up looking straight at her at very close range. For some reason, Dianne was afraid, what if Nicolas suddenly remembered her face and said she was just an intern? Everything will be very messy.

Dianne realized that her next move was being awaited by four other people in the room, the doctor, the nurse, Police Randy, and his partner.

'What should I do? Why did I touch both his cheeks? What am I going to do?' thought Diane to herself.

Because she didn't know what to do anymore, Dianne moved her face forward and quickly kissed Nicolas on the lips.

Well, the intern secretary kissed her CEO, how dare.
