Emily's POV;

It was a quiet evening. A little after 5 o'clock, the moon was out, and the air had a cool bite to it that helped settle my nerves. As I walked up the hill towards home, I could just barely make out the faint sound of the ocean crashing into the shore in the distance. It was an unusually beautiful night for this time of year.

The walk seemed to last forever, as I got closer and closer to home. The sun had set some time ago, leaving me in a deep silence except for my own footsteps. Even with no one else around, everything felt so peaceful.

After turning into my driveway, I paused to catch my breath, taking the key out of my pocket and unlocking my door. I stepped inside my house, shutting the door behind me softly. As I entered the living room, my gaze fell upon a figure sitting on the couch, facing away from me.
