Chapter One

Freya's POV.

My breathing quivered when I heard my stepfather's steps coming right up. The moment he opens the door, I stand upright and fake a smile.

"Are you ready?" He asks, his eyes assessing my body.

"Yes, sir. I'm..." He caught me mid-sentence with his next words.

"All right. Hurry. The carriage is here." I nod my head at my master, Andy, who's also my stepfather.

Well, he was supposed to be my stepfather until I turned out to be a late bloomer, and at the age of 22, when my wolf would come out as an Omega, I lost all rights to being independent.

In the Wildwood pack, my pack, once your wolf comes out as an Omega, you're automatically cast as a lone wolf. The law believes we are all weak beings, so it doesn't need us to contribute to society.

For my stepfather, ever since I turned 20, he has changed completely towards me. He became a stranger, and today of all days, something is about to happen, and I have no idea what it is.

I have walked outside with him next to me, and the sun is also casting heavy beams of light onto us.

A Ford Ranger stops in front of us, raising my level of curiosity until he asks me to enter.

I did as told, and once we were inside, it began to move. I have no idea where we are going, and it's not like I can ask.

I was hoping he would speak when he actually does. "I have rules for you, girl. Are you listening?"

"Yes, master." I answer with unreal enthusiasm.

"Where we are going now is sacred to you. You will not speak unless spoken to. You will not give an opinion unless asked for it, and even when you do, you give an opinion that shows your enthusiasm for the situation. You will not act disliking of whatever you face. Understood?"

I swallow a lump when he finishes with those rules, his eyes glaring at me as though once I screw up, he'd kill me right off. Well, even if he does, no one cares. He's my master, after all.

Hastily, I nod my head.

"Speak!"

"Yes, sir. I'm so..."

"I do not need your apology. Just be that perfect doll I've bred you as." He turns his head to the side, looking outside the tinted window.

My heart keeps spiking up until we arrive at our destination, supposedly. I have thought of many evil thoughts in my head that this old drunkard could do to me, and they all scare me.

I alight after him, and in front of me is the royal mansion of the Alpha King. No, wait, what are we doing here?

Andy saw my panic and grabbed me at my back, wrinkling the fancy gown, which I had never before worn in my life until today.

As we walked inside, I felt as though my heart wanted to run away from my chest. Alpha King Nicholas Kurt is known as the cruelest Alpha of all time. I mean, when you think about it, because of his rules, I am, as an Omega, dissociated from society.

Finally, we arrived inside the huge building, and Andy left me, saying he'd be back and partly reminding me of his rules. I stand in the middle of the lounge, not knowing what to do.

I wanted to sit, but the faces of the guards at every corner of the building scare me, especially with their soldiery uniforms. There's one dressed in a red uniform, closer to me than the others. I did not even realize it when he neared me.

For the next few minutes, my nerves wouldn't stop spiking until I heard a sound from behind me. A lady walked into the room with a bright smile on her face.

"Are you Freya? Freya Grey?"

Moon goodness, please save me!

My eyes went big, unknowing what to do.

"Um, is a response a big thing, Miss?" The lady says it with a chuckle. Her blonde hair, milky skin, perfectly manicured nails, fancy shirt, and woolen trousers gave me a conclusion. She's one of the royals, except I don't know much after.

All my life, I was only trained to be obedient and tender; I never got a chance to make a decision, so I never learned anything about who each of the royals is.

"Sorry. I'm...yes, I'm Freya Grey."

"Well, cool. I just wanted to introduce myself to you because I'm very busy; however, that won't stop me from attending your bonding night. I would love to personally welcome you to the royal family." As she states, my brain tries to understand two words: "bonding night.".

"I... whose bonding night, please?"

"Oh, no formalities anymore. I'm the Alpha's King's one and only sister, Cathwulf Kurt, but please call me Cat. It sounds fierce, just like my wolf." She is about to continue speaking when another door opens to my north.

It was the Elder, Alpha King Nicholas Kurt's mother. How dare I not know her? She's literally the most feared woman in all of North America.

I bowed instantly, which made Princess Cathwulf Kurt laugh mildly.

"Leave now, Cathwulf." With a humming response, she leaves the room.

Suddenly, I notice there's more silence in the space than before, except for my thumping heart, which has caused my legs to weaken.

"Freya Grey, daughter of Alan and Melissa Grey, your life changes today. You are no longer a commoner but the soon-to-be Luna of all of North America. You shall listen to me as I state your new life. Starting now, your reason for being alive is because you must bear the King a son. In the meantime, you will learn how to be the perfect wife. Your stepfather did quite a job, but I am still insatiable. You have to be more tender than this." She pauses and takes one step further before her hand pats my stomach.

"Hm. Flexibly enough." She mutters to herself.

In my head, I am going crazy at what's happening. I know the truth, but I don't want to admit it.

The elder adds, " and, oh, behind you is your new man-in-service." She had pointed at the guard closest to me, who bowed lightly at his call.

I want to say a lot of things, but I don't know how to. What if she asks that I be punished for questioning her? I cannot do anything except whatever I am told to. That's Freya Grey. That's who I have grown to be.

"I don't understand." Says a voice that's my own. I am shaken by my wolf's influence. Sincerely, I had no idea I was going to talk.

The elder turned to her back. "What's hard to understand there? Why do you think you're treated to a sheltered life, unlike other omegas? Think, Freya. A Luna needs that facility called the brain." Her voice fades as she leaves the room.

My wolf panics as she tells me the truth. We have just been sold to the cruelest Alpha King of all time by our stepfather.
