Freya's POV. My breathing quivered when I heard my stepfather's steps coming right up. The moment he opens the door, I stand upright and fake a smile."Are you ready?" He asks, his eyes assessing my body."Yes, sir. I'm..." He caught me mid-sentence with his next words."All right. Hurry. The carriage is here." I nod my head at my master, Andy, who's also my stepfather.Well, he was supposed to be my stepfather until I turned out to be a late bloomer, and at the age of 22, when my wolf would come out as an Omega, I lost all rights to being independent. In the Wildwood pack, my pack, once your wolf comes out as an Omega, you're automatically cast as a lone wolf. The law believes we are all weak beings, so it doesn't need us to contribute to society. For my stepfather, ever since I turned 20, he has changed completely towards me. He became a stranger, and today of all days, something is about to happen, and I have no idea what it is.I have walked outside with him next to me, and the s

Freya's POV.As the contents of my red cup go down my throat, I groan inwardly, my eyes closing to stop me from dropping a tear. This gin is strong, but this is my third bottle.I've found a way to get out of the ballroom and hide myself behind an apple tree, where in front of me is a beautiful, shimmering body of water.I watch the reflection of the moon on it and wish my life was as beautiful. Freya's POV.Two weeks later, I remain alive. My days are either filled with touring around the Kingdom to learn of the origin and meaning of each creation, visiting the library to learn about the royals in my pack, playing the piano, learning how to brew herbal teas to stay in shape, wearing corsets to practice, having books on my head as I catwalk as I needed to walk perfectly, training my smile, or crying in my room whenever I am reminded that my mate had lied to me right from the first night we met.I should have known. I mean, he isn't called the cruelest Alpha of all time for a joke. What did I think? That he'd be proud of me as his mate?I have just finished training my walk, and I dropped the light cube on my head for the maids to pack. Before I leave the room, I perform courtesy to both my teacher and the Elder, who's up the stairs, watching my move.Outside the walls, I finally move my neck around and release my shoulders to swing as they want, not conscious of every part of
