Lucy's POV

The sun is about to rise and it has been hours. I was disappointed when nobody entered the room. I disliked being a celebrity. I wanted to be busy and get my mind off of things. I got sick of simply laying here aimlessly. The door was suddenly opened, as if the cosmos had heard my cries. The manner the individual is fumbling with the lock suggests that they are attempting to pick it. I waited with my eyes closed.

The door was soon unlocked. I squeezed the plastic ball beneath the pillow more firmly. When I felt a touch on my back after hearing footsteps approaching, I sprung to my feet and tackled the oncoming person to the ground. I tightened my legs to keep them in place as I sat on their thighs. As I lifted the plastic ball to strike the victim in the face, I chained their hands together with my free hand. I eventually glanced at the person I had grabbed and froze.

Boy was it. He looked like a 16 year old.

Hello there! There is no damage! Just a note from me, please! He pleaded with me, "Please," but I had no reason to believe him. I sent a tight glare his way.

Last but not least, he said, "The boss sent me to get you!" I gave him a careful look. He had upper lip and brow lines from sweat. His body trembled slightly, and his eyes could not contact mine. He was being sincere.

After leaving him, I threw the plastic ball onto my bed. It would be useful afterward. To accompany me to his employer, I grabbed the lad by the collar and pushed him out the door. He followed me down the hallway, and I could tell he wanted to turn around to see whether I would jump him and attempt to murder him once again by the tightness in his stance and the shakiness of his legs. He was lucky that I wasn't feeling that way.

We spent a long time moving through a maze of passageways while passing the same picture three times. I took care to write down the appropriate text. Amateurs. I understood how all of this worked. I had experienced everything. We arrived at a double-light oak door that stood out in the interior's darkness finally. I put the boy's pattern of knocking to memory. He pulled the door wide and motioned for me to go, so I did.

It was none other than Luca Martinelli, working at a desk made of polished wood. Behind me, the door was locked.

I made an effort not to squirm as Luca gazed up at me and fixed me with his intense stare. Men like vulnerability, therefore I was taught to hide it until necessary. He approached me after gathering a stack of papers from his desk. I perused the documents he gave them to me. My signature, or the one I had when I was 14 years old, was at the bottom of the document. Although I now have many for various circumstances, this was my first and only one.

"This is the agreement that you endorsed. The terms are plain to see, as you can see. Antonio paid three million for you. You therefore became his property, and as a result, the mafia's property. Luca surrounded me and said, "You vanished for four years and, shockingly, he brought you back, offering you to me as a present. You are the property of whomever Antonio had decided to deliver you to, according to the deal.

I took in what he said while I reviewed the contract on my own. He was accurate. I was now his and his mafia's property.

Selling you would be simple, but I'm curious as to what makes you unique. My father surreptitiously received millions from the mafia, and he put those funds on a project he named the Jade Scythe. I made an effort not to retaliate at that point. "Is that you, then? Why would he spend millions of dollars on you? Where have you been for the last four years, and why are you back? It took me a while to realize that.

The final question I honestly couldn't It took me a long to understand answer, but I knew the rest of the answers, and there was no way I was telling him anything. I didn't say anything. He stopped moving, and I could see him now. His body heat was audible to me. He was right there.

He replied, "I was hoping you wouldn't talk," and then turned to return to his work. I felt like I could breathe again after he stopped literally breathing down on me. "I'll give you a new contract," I said.

My focus began to pique. I couldn't help but notice how Luca's black aura dominated the space as he reclined in his chair. He has a quality that caught my attention. He moved a stack of papers in my direction.

"I speak in fewer, clearer phrases. For fifteen years, you will be mine. You have to follow my mafia's rules and regulations throughout that period. You'll be released after that, he said.

I gave him the side-eye while picking up the contract. I had no faith in anything he said. I carefully examined the contract looking for gaps before I discovered it. A sly laugh escaped my lips. The contract was smashed on the table by me.

I'm not like your stupid henchmen, you know. I'll be your property for fifteen years, according to this contract. It must have been a pleasant notion. to declare that I am Luca Martinelli's property. It makes no mention of the previous contract becoming void. You'd still own me since I'm mafia property. I'm not gullible. I am aware that leaving a mafia requires dying. I don't need your fictitious contract. With a strong British accent, I said, "I'm leaving here by myself.

We locked gazes as my lifeless eyes met his icy ones. When I turned to go, the door was locked. I saw Luca rising. She says, "Lei parla." In Italian, he spoke.

In my brain, I yelled. I turned to face Luca, who had shifted to take a position in front of me. "You're forgetting that my mob controls this. My home, and naturally, my rules. The new agreement is no longer an alternative. Seems you declined that, Luca murmured.

I felt absolutely no fear as he inched closer until we were just inches away. Think what he must, but worse things have happened to me. I'd seen worse. I wasn't afraid of him."Sei un uccello in una gabbia di mia creazione. Pensi di poter scappare? Certo, vai. Prova ad andartene. Le tue ali saranno tarpate prima di prendere il volo (You are a bird in a cage of my creation. Do you think you can escape? Sure, go. Try to leave. Your wings will be clipped before taking flight)."

Luca's POV I poured myself a glass of water and chugged it down slowly. I sighed in satisfaction as I set the glass on the table, leaning against the counter. I bowed my head and rolled my shoulders, my body aching from all the fighting and boxing I'd been doing all morning. The past few days hadn't been easy. Finding a dress for Lucy was harder than I thought it would be but I managed to pull it off. I thought of the white box with the light brown ribbon that sat in my room, ready to be delivered. I couldn't stop the worry that slowly seeped its way into my heart. Worry that Lucy wouldn't like the dress I got her. It was much different from what most would wear to such an event, I would know I've been going to them since I was 18 but something urged me to stand firm with the dress. I would love to see how she looked in it. The ding of the elevator sounded in the quiet room and my mother's chatter filled the penthouse. I moved around the counter, leaning against the kitchen door

I sipped on the orange juice that was in the glass beside me. It had been spiked with something and I wasn't telling Faye because she'd throw a fit but after all the things Kaleb had done to me, I think I deserved this little form of pleasure. I placed the glass down outside the large tub Faye and I were relaxing in, the top covered with rose petals while the foam at the top smelt a little like vanilla. Outside the tub were candles that flickered softly and soft music sounded in the air. "I don't think I can move," I commented resting my back on the tub. "I know. I think doing this today was a bad idea," Faye noted and I agreed. I barely had any strength left in my bones that felt like jelly. I sighed, adjusting the bikini I had on. It was plain black unlike Faye's deep blue one. For a woman her age, she was very fit. I fiddled my fingers under the water, gathering the courage to ask Faye a few questions about Luca. Questions I hoped would clear things up. "Faye?" "Yes darling?

"Welcome Lucy, to Pride," Faye cheered as we walked into the large spa and salon. The reception was filled with women of different shapes, sizes, races, and religions, all waiting for something as they softly chatted amongst themselves. Faye pulled us to sit next to two girls who looked a lot like twins, hijabs covering their faces."Luca owns half this company so everything we're going to do is free!" Faye cheered like that was the greatest news she's heard since Target."Luca owns this?" I asked surprised and the older woman nodded."This among many others," she commented and I sat back in my seat, speechless. How rich was he exactly?"So what are we waiting for?" I asked and Faye hummed, looking through her bag, and pulling out a phone."Oh, some lady called Lin. She's the owner basically. Knows Luca. She's the one doing our makeovers today."I nodded at Faye's words as we waited for her to text someone."So... what's our agenda?" I asked Faye."Well first we have chiropractic adju

I was the greatest human being on earth, no questions asked.I sat on my bed, doing nothing basically, dressed in a simple yellow lace sundress that reached mid-thigh. My hair was in a puffy ponytail at the top of my head and my bangs fell leisurely on my forehead.Enough about what was doing and more about me being the greatest human on earth.Faye was downstairs, so was Luca, and I was supposed to be down for me and her to leave for the spa about an hour ago. I was hiding out here because my smart ass had thought of a way of pushing the mother and son together after them being slightly awkward with each other over the past few days. They didn't talk much and as much as I hated to admit it, I hated seeing them so out of sync so this was the only plan I'd come up with last minute. I stood up, twisting on the balls of my feet that were covered with white Jordans, and made my way to the door.I guess I'd been up here long enough. After all, the mafia ball was in just a few hours and I d

I pulled a large tee over my head and sighed when it was finally settled on my body, letting out a low sound of victory. That had taken a lot of time to do. My body was sore and moving a single muscle hurt. I made my way downstairs, my bare feet silent on the cold floors. I went down the stairs and to the kitchen to see Luca on his phone and he looked freshly showered. How long did I take?I sat down across from him and he placed his phone down."How are you feeling?" he asked simply but my heart fluttered and the hint of care I heard in his tone."Like a punching bag," I answered and a plate with a sandwich was slid in front of me. I looked up at Luca who had settled down with his own plate."Finish that and I'll give you something to help with the pain," Viitore said and I nodded, not really knowing how to answer anymore. He choked me. Well, I had choked him too...He made me a sandwich and now, he's going to give me something that'll help with the pain I was in.It was like I was i

I struck first, going straight for Luca's face. He dodged of course but he was right, he was fast. I sent more hits, Luca going on defense. Adrenaline pumped in my body as I made sure my moves were fast and went for places with the most damage. All I was doing was testing Luca's defenses. Usually, my moves were calculated but I was being reckless at the moment, throwing as much as I could. I saw Luca's stance shift and quickly ducked as he sent a foot right for my face. I stood up, my hair flying in my face and I regretted not tying it up earlier. We separated. I shook my hands out, circling Luca while he did the same, his eyes watching my movements. This time, I let him try to hit me instead. I blocked and dodged most of the hits but he had more strength and each block hurt a ton. I got a hit in first, managing to hit Luca's wrist, pull him forward, and jab my elbow in his ribs.He let out a harsh breath and we separated again. I smirked at him and jogged in place."Getting a little
