2. “What did you do to me?”

Ava’s POV

“So is she really wolf-less?”

“I heard Alpha Alaric purchased her personally”

“Why would he purchase a wolf-less omega?”

The faint sound of hushed voices filled the room as I struggled to open my eyes. The pain from last night’s events still lingered over me as I forced myself to open my eyes, and found 3 pairs of eyes staring at me intently.

I shrieked, as I jumped backwards, accidentally hitting my head on the wall.

“Ouch…. that must have hurt” one of them said.

“W….who are you?” I asked as I shifted deeper into the corner.

“I’m Lyra” the girl replied “this is Tina and Elina” she added as she pointed to the other girls and they nodded.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Our bad,” Elina said as she sat at the edge of the bed. “We all share this room together” I nodded slowly as I loosened my defense a bit, at least it’s better than the cage I expected.

“So are you really wolf-less?” Lyra asked and I nodded.

“Geez, that’s a lot I can only imagine what you have been through” she said as she held my hand and I gave her a small smile.

“So tell us about the Moon Claw Clan, I heard Beta Darius is very hot” Tina said and Elina smacked her head.

“What was that for?”

“That’s her elder brother you dumbass” she replied as she shook her head.

“This isn’t the time to chit chat,” Lyra said as she cut them off “Ava, we came to get you because Madam Rhea is about to do a head count and assign duties” she added and I nodded.

“Now, you are lucky you got assigned to Alpha Alaric’s quarters, we worked our butts off before we got here, I heard he personally bought you what is that about?” Tina asked and Elina smacked her again.

“Ok ouch” Tina retorted and Elina rolled her eyes.

“Not the time geez” she said as she deadpanned.

“Let’s go.” Lyra said pulling me out of the room.

The interior of the pack house looked nothing like I expected, Instead of bloodstained walls and prisoners chained to every corner, all I could see was servants doing their daily work without a care in the world.

“What’s on your mind?” Tina asked as she nudged me.

“Oh nothing much, just thought it will be more terrifying here” I said back and Elina laughed.

“Don’t believe in the rumors you hear about this place it’s really not that bad” she said and I nodded.

We got to the courtyard where most servants were already fixing themselves up into neat rows and we joined them. The moment they noticed me, the courtyard became instantly silent and almost immediately the murmurs started.

“Oh my god! That’s her”

“I heard the Alpha bought her himself”

“Why did he buy a wolf-less omega”

I lowered my head as I tried to ignore the ugly eyes they were giving me.

“Hey don’t worry about it,” Lyra started as she put a hand around my shoulder “NONE OF THEM ARE WORTH IT” she said louder for them to hear and they all scoffed and turned away.

“Thank you” I said back with a small smile.

“Don’t worry we got you” Elina said reassuringly.

The sound of someone approaching instantly ceased the tension in the courtyard as everyone tried to be composed. I looked ahead and saw a woman in her mid forties stand in front of us as she addressed the crowd.

“Good morning, I am Madam Rhea” she said calmly as she scanned the crowd.

“You have your duties, complete them or expect the hard way”

“Kitchen” she said and most servants stepped forward.

“Courtyard” another set stepped forward and soon it was just Lyra, Elina, Tina and I left.

“Now you 4” she said as she looked at us, her eyes lingering longer on me than I liked.

“Alpha Alaric’s quarters, Lyra you in charge don’t mess it up or else” she said and I could see the fear in Lyra’s eyes as she nodded. 

“And you join them in the Alpha’s quarters” she said as she gave me one more lasting look before she scoffed and left.

“Oh my god I thought she was going to kill you with her stare” Tina said and I shrugged.

“Okay people we have work to do”Lyra said and we nodded.

“Ok girls, here you go. And you…and you” Lyra said as she handed us a cloth and a bucket.

“The Alpha’s quarters need to be spotless and if it’s not, Madam Rhea will have my head”

“It’s going to be okay chill” Elina said as she put a hand on Lyra’s shoulder.

“Let’s get scrubbing girls” she said and we nodded in agreement.

Alpha Alaric’s quarters was awfully quiet, I was currently in his study, arranging the books by title and dusting the shelves and that was when I heard a familiar voice coming from the hallway.

I instinctively approached the sound and that was when I saw him.

The man from last night, walking side by side with another man, without thinking I ran up to him as I turned him around to face me.

“You!” I said as I stared back at him.

A small smile tugged at his lips as he looked at me. “I see you are awake now”.

I took a step closer to him as my heart pounded faster.

“What did you do to me last night?”
