Alessandro’s POV

“Lock the door behind you,” he says.

I do, like I always do.

Obedience to my father is muscle memory by now, trained into me like a fucking dog. It’s pathetic, but it’s my life. The only one he’s ever allowed me to live.

“Son, please. Sit.”

I drop into the leather chair across from him, back straight, jaw tight.

That’s the thing about my father the name whispered like a curse in half the city, His manner is flawless, he uses all the right words. Smiles at beggars, dotes on children, donates to the church and gives just enough light to mask the stench of blood.

If he thinks playing saint buys forgiveness for a lifetime of evil, I hope he chokes on the irony.

“The wedding,” he says, folding his hands over his desk, “you know it’s for your own good.”

“For my good?” I say flatly. “How?”

“I’m helping you, son.” He leans forward just slightly. “You already signed the certificate. I’m just. . making it official.”

I lean back, watching him carefully. Ther

RUEMy heartbeat feels unstable, like it keeps skipping a step before catching itself again. The lights above us hum slowly, steady and unaware of what they are illuminating. I can taste metal at the back of my tongue. I gently touch my stomach. For some awkward reason, that is the moment I feel hunger. I do not look at the host yet. I cannot. Not when the two men standing beside me feel like the rest of my life splitting down the middle.“Rue,” Alessandro says, and my name sounds like a plea he is trying too hard to swallow. “You do not owe them anything. Not tonight.”I look in his eyes, and I see red lines of pain in his eyes.Matteo tilts his head slightly, watching me with a quiet intensity that feels heavier than the room itself. “She owes herself,” he murmurs. The host opens his mouth, ready to guide the moment, but I raise my hand before he can start shaping my narrative. My voice, when it leaves me, does not tremble the way I expect.“I need a second,” I say.“A second?” Matt

  • Sold To The Ruthless Mafia Don   Ch 111

RUEThe silence that follows the revelation feels like it grows a branch, and stretches itself between the three of us. It stretches, tightens, and becomes a wall none of us can climb. I do not speak at first, and that is because I am afraid of what will come out of my mouth. I cannot fathom a world where this would be possible. Alessandro on his own, does not speak because his world has started to tilt. Matteo does not speak because he is too comfortable with the chaos he created. There's not a speck of a smile on his face, but his eyes finally seem at peace. The host clears his throat again, a small reminder that the moment is still happening in real time, and nothing can be reversed. The lights stay on. The cameras keep blinking. The sound engineer does not even shift his arm. Everyone holds still, waiting for a word to be uttered. Some are waiting to be proven wrong, while others are waiting for the confirmation of their accusations. For a split second, I let myself imagine some

RUEThe air freezes around me the way rooms do when something irreversible has happened. It is entirely silent, and cold. No one moves at first. Not the host, definitely not the crew, and not even me. I can hear the faint hum of the lights, but everything else sounds distant, like I am in the room, but my presence has transcended into another universe. I can't tell how I feel, or what I even feel.Matteo strides forward, but the host raises a hand, not to stop him, but to acknowledge what he already knows. The moment is out of his control now. The interview is no longer a conversation. It is a rupture.I stand slowly from the chair. My legs wobble, but I force them to hold. I gently grab onto the arm of the chair, holding onto the least bit of stability. I keep my eyes on Alessandro because I cannot look away. Not when his signature sits inside a folder that feels like a blade. Not when the will accusation circles us like a storm that has been waiting for years to break open.“Please

RUEThe car ride to the studio feels like a silent judgment. The streets roll by in a blur of grey morning light, each building looking colder than the last. Alessandro sits beside me, one hand resting on my thigh, his thumb brushing slowly as if he is trying to tame the storm inside me. Matteo sits in the front seat with the driver, quiet for the first time since the planning started, his jaw locked so tightly I can see the vein running down his neck.I want to speak, to release even a single word, but I feel as though there is a rope tied around my neck. It feels like my voice box would shatter if I dared utter a word. When we arrive, the studio looks smaller than I imagined. Smaller, but sharp. Like a knife tucked in the corner of a room. There is a long hallway leading inside, and as we walk, I can hear the faint whisper of equipment being tested. Lights humming silently, and cameras blinking. Microphones are being clipped onto tables. My stomach twists.Matteo hands me the folder

RUEMatteo taps the folder again like it is a personal sin to him. “You need to go live. Morning broadcast. It has a wider reach, and it's the perfect timing. People are already bored of the rumors, so now is when they’re most willing to believe the truth if you hand it to them.”I stare at him. “Believe the truth? Matteo, these people do not know me. They have already picked the Vanilli sides. That is who they know.”“They picked the loudest side,” he replies. “So you need to be louder. At least, try to pull their attention towards you. Male heads swerve.”Alessandro drags a chair closer and sits beside me, leaning in until our shoulders touch. “You do not have to answer him now.”Matteo scoffs. “She actually has to.”“I do not,” I say, turning to glare at both of them. “I want to know the real plan. The one no one is saying out loud.”“This is the real plan,” Matteo insists. “Public clarity. Control the narrative. Stop letting your father-in-law write your story.”I shake my head. “

RUEThe atmosphere shifts so sharply it nearly cracks. Alessandro’s eyes darken, and I swear I feel Matteo quietly adjusting his invisible referee seat.“Disappointing?” I repeat, because apparently I’m now auditioning for the role of Most Confused Woman Alive. “I am disappointing to you?” I ask, yet again.Alessandro drags his hand down his face. “You’re planning a future where you’re not in my life. And you expect me to just sit here and nod along like some polite politician? What is this?"Matteo exhales loudly, almost theatrically. If he had a gavel, he’d be hanging on it.I lean forward. “I’m planning a future where you don’t destroy your life because of me. I’m thinking in a logical pattern. Someone has to do that right now.”His jaw ticks. “Logically? Logically, my father is trying to end my wife's life! Rationally, he’s trying to humiliate you publicly so he can manipulate me privately. Rationally, if you leave, he wins.”“And if you stay with me, you lose!” I shoot back. “Yo
