Angelina walked fast toward Victoria, slapping her hard.

Victoria felt her ears were ringing, but she could remain calm and stood upright.

"What the hell did you do? What kind of trick do you do to manipulate all of this? You want revenge?" asked Angelina, looking at Victoria from head to toe and laughing mockingly. "And what's with your new looks? Are you trying so hard to make it look like things have turned around? Change your surname to Ruthner like you're going to be his mistress. Don't you so pathetic, Victoria? Know your real place!"

Victoria gave no response but a cold stare and silence, making Angelina angry.

"Are you can't talk anymore? Say something with your fucking mouth, you bitch!"

"Are you done?" Victoria replied, asking in calm. "I am still quiet because I'm waiting for the wind to stop blowing. Because my words will not be heard if the wind keeps blowing the empty can, making it noise."

"What did you say? You call me an empty can?"

"Listen to me, Angelina Addam." Victoria interrupted, then looked at Edward, who was trying to hold his anger. "About the biggest stock of your Father's company, I am the owner. I asked Helio Ruthner to do my thing, and he did it perfectly. In the end, the true businessman knows what to do to gain his profit, including how to treat his enemy."

"Enemy?" asked Edward, complaining. "Am I an enemy of Helio Ruthner? Our relationship even runs so well until you break it all. Tell me, Victoria, what kind of trick did you use to fool Sir Helio? Do you spell on him?"

"A spell? Wake up, Daddy. Are you this desperate to find a logical reason so you think I use magic to trick you?"

Victoria's brave words pissed off Edward, Angelina and Orlando.

"If you worry about this, I will kick you out of your company. Don't worry, I will not do it," said Victoria, making Edward lookn't expected for a while. "I will not kick you out, but I'll make you out with your legs, just like the way you kicked me out of this house."

"What? What do you mean?"

"As the highest stock owner, I can change your place anytime. But I will let you be the director and my doll. Will I run your company to the highest state or the mud puddle? It's up to me. But I will make it seem as if it's happening because of you since you are the director. Isn't it funny?"

"FUNNY, YOU SAY?"

Edward almost slapped Victoria, but she gave him a warning sign.

"I will not let you touch me even a fingertip!" Edward spontaneously stopped. "And I will make sure you will be punished for every pain you give to my body!"

Edward put down his hand; he knew the one behind Victoria.

Victoria sighed, then threw three invitations to the table.

"I will short this up and go away."

They were looking surprised after learning about the names on the invitations.

"In five days, I will marry Helio Gillian Ruthner. I want you guys to come to bless me. Bless me with wishes, happiness, or madness. I am not bothered with that."

Victoria glanced at Angelina, insinuating Angelina with what she once said.

"Marrying Helio Ruthner? How can you do that?" Angelina trembled in anger.

Victoria answered her calmly. "Well, you once said that I am a slave and have to obey what my master says. If my master commands me to marry him, what can I do, sister?"

"Impossible! Helio Ruthner definitely will not propose to you! You're a pathetic girl who came into this house in my Father's pity! If not for my Father's kindness, he would not pick up your mother, who looked like the dog got caught in the rain!"

Slap!

Angelina shut her mouth in shock.

"Why do you so pissed?" asked Victoria. "And if Helio Ruthner truly falls for me, why can't you accept that? Do you think that a woman who sleeps with her sister's boyfriend is worth it more to get his attention? I am sorry, lady, but he's a young master of a blue-blood family with no poor taste."

"Victoria, you!"

"Once more, I indeed come for revenge. Is it strange?" Victoria didn't look scared, making Angelina couldn't defend herself. "But the revenge doesn't stop with this slap, Angelina; you deserve to get more than this. Your fall starts now, like a roller coaster that always goes down, never running up. And it will not stop before I say so. I take the control."

Victoria walked upright and left the room. The sound of her shoes was clear, echoing like a countdown to destruction. She left

With no power to pay back, Edward, Angelina, and Orlando held their embarrassment. At the same time, Helio waited for her in the car.

"Huft…."

"You must be trying hard to hold that scared so you're not looking so pathetic in front of that predator," Helio said, mocking. Victoria didn't pay attention and was looking at the street. "But you look cool enough to scare them. I should record all the things."

"Yeah… you should see it."

"Your ankles look tense a little bit. Should I buy you flat shoes since you're not used to putting that expensive thing on your feet?"

"Thank you, but the only thing I wish is for you to shut your mouth."

"That's quite rude. Don't forget that you are the slave one here, lady."

Victoria didn't say anything.

"Our next move is to buy a wedding dress. Shall we speed up—"

The brakes sounded so loud, and the car suddenly stopped.

Victoria was shocked and panicked, while Helio laughed when he learned about the reason.

Claudia almost hit their car. She stopped before Helio's car and walked closer like she was about to flip the thing up.

Helio was about to go out, but Victoria held him.

"Let me talk to her."

Helio mocked her with a laugh.

"Do you want to be her mop again this time?"

1 "I am not gonna let her do it anymore." Victoria opened the door, ready to face Claudia's rage. "However, I will get married in five days and not let anything scratch my body!"

Victoria stiffened slightly when she heard the voice behind her. She turned, and there stood Desmond Ruthner, dressed more casually than she was used to seeing him, yet somehow still exuding a powerful aura. He carried a small stack of papers, and from his focused expression, Victoria could tell he had been in the middle of something important. His casual attire did nothing to soften the air of authority around him, and Victoria felt a sudden wave of discomfort despite her polite smile. "Good morning, Mr. Desmond," she greeted, her voice composed. "I hope I'm not disturbing your work." Desmond’s smile was warm on the surface, but there was something about it that felt off, distant. Victoria could sense his calculated presence in every movement. “Not at all, Victoria. But tell me,” his eyes flickered toward her black dress with a faint hint of amusement, “who died today? Whose funeral did you just attend?” Victoria felt her stomach clench at his words, though she kept her expression

The next morning, Victoria stood in front of her mirror, staring at her reflection with a determined expression. The scar from Helio’s slap was still there, faintly bruised but visible enough to remind her of the humiliation she had suffered the day before. She touched it gently, feeling the heat rise in her chest—not just from the pain, but from the bubbling anger and hatred she harbored for Helio. But she couldn’t let the anger consume her, not yet. Victoria closed her eyes and remembered her conversation with Amy the night before. There was something deeper to this torment, something she didn’t understand yet. Helio wasn’t just a sadistic man who enjoyed seeing her suffer—there had to be a reason behind his cruelty. He couldn’t hate her this much for no reason. Victoria’s determination flared. She had to find out what was driving him, why he seemed to have a personal vendetta against her when, as far as she knew, they had never crossed paths before their marriage. She opened her ey

The dining room was thick with tension, as if the very air had been sucked out. The maids stood frozen, their eyes wide, too afraid to move or make a sound. The echo of Helio’s slap still lingered in the air as Victoria remained on the floor, her face stinging with both pain and humiliation. Her body was shaking—not just from the shock, but from the wave of emotions crashing inside her: anger, embarrassment, and a sharp pang of disbelief. She barely had time to process the moment before Helio stepped forward and roughly grabbed her jaw, forcing her face upwards. His grip was cold and unrelenting, and Victoria found herself staring directly into his eyes. The hatred she saw there stunned her. It wasn’t just anger—it was something deeper, something that clung to him like a dark, festering grudge. But why? Her mind raced. How could he hate me this much? We never met before this. How could he have such deep resentment?Helio leaned down, his voice low and dripping with menace. "I want you

Helio sat in his room, his laptop open in front of him, but his eyes weren’t focused on the screen. His mind was elsewhere, swirling with thoughts of Victoria. The memory of last night—the look on her face, the sharpness in her voice—lingered like a bitter aftertaste. No matter how cruel he was to her, it never seemed to be enough to ease the hatred that simmered within him. She deserves more pain, he thought, his grip tightening around the pen in his hand. But as much as he hated Victoria, there was something else that clawed at the back of his mind, something far worse. A memory. Helio's gaze drifted toward the window. Snowflakes had started to fall outside, dusting the ground with a light coating of white. It was a scene eerily similar to that day. That day when everything shattered. His breathing quickened as the memory played vividly before his eyes. It had been a snowy end-of-year holiday, one that started out joyous but ended in unspeakable tragedy. Mother… His mother’s lif

Victoria walked slowly toward the mansion gate, her heels clicking softly on the gravel driveway. The cool night air brushed against her skin, but it did little to calm the storm brewing inside her. She felt utterly isolated—an outsider in this family, an unacknowledged daughter-in-law. Helio hadn’t even glanced in her direction as he left with Claudia, just as they had arrived together. The thought made her blood boil."Helio," she muttered under her breath. This is all because of him.Her car was still being repaired, and she debated whether to call an Uber. Standing outside the gate, waiting like an afterthought, was humiliating enough. The last thing she wanted was to be indebted to Arlo, who had earlier offered her a ride home with that irritating grin of his. She had politely declined, choosing this solitude over his unsettling company. As she stared into the night, a familiar car approached. Victoria blinked in surprise when the vehicle slowed down and stopped just in front of

Victoria slipped out of the dining room, desperate for a breath of fresh air after the stifling atmosphere of the dinner. The laughter and polished conversation of the Desmond family felt suffocating, each remark cutting deeper than the last, as if they were all in on a joke she wasn’t privy to. With every pointed glance and mocking smile, she felt the weight of their expectations pressing down on her, making her heart race with embarrassment and frustration. As she stepped onto the balcony, the cool night air brushed against her flushed cheeks, a welcome relief from the oppressive tension inside. But even here, under the expansive sky, thoughts of her past haunted her. Memories of Edward Addams flooded her mind—his sweet lies, his promises that he would protect her, that he would be the father she never had. Instead, he had sold her like a commodity, betraying her trust and leaving her vulnerable in the hands of Helio. She leaned against the balcony railing, the sharpness of the betr
