Victoria got home in the morning. She went through a long way to get back to her town. Instead of looking like a girl who worked in a big city, Victoria looked more like she just came out of a stormy rain.

“Lady Vic….”

She had just passed some maids who tried to greet her; she walked toward her father’s study room and couldn’t wait to cry in his arms. But she stopped before opening the door when she heard Edward Addam talking to someone else inside.

“You sent your youngest daughter to that heartless rich family, huh?”

“Where have you been, Mario? She had been going two weeks ago.”

“How’s she doing? Don’t you want to know?”

“Is it good for me? She must be too busy to survive. QLiving as a maid isn’t easy, right? Mario… Finneas.” Victoria held her tears; she was sure to walk in, but she froze when Edward said, “About Victoria… I don’t want that kid to come back. I’ve been waiting so long for the time when I can throw her away from my life.”

“That’s evil, dude. What if she hears your words? Haha.” Finneas asked, didn’t that care, and laughed.

“Aku tidak peduli. Dia sudah dewasa untuk bisa mengerti hal semacam kenyataan bahwa dia bukanlah anak kandungku.” Victoria terkejut mendengar itu, “dan kenyataan bahwa dia tidak dikirim ke rumah Ruthner sebagai tebusan utang, melainkan dijual.” Hatinya seperti tertusuk pedang berkarat, sakitnya begitu menyiksa.

“I don’t care. She is mature enough to learn about the truth that she’s not my daughter.” Victoria was shocked by the word. “And the fact that I sent her to Ruthner’s house wasn’t because I have a debt but because I sold her.”

Victoria felt like a rusty sword had shattered her chest; the pain was real and unbearable.

“I accept her just because of her mother. I was so in love with Lana’s beauty, but she’s dead. I don’t have any reason to let her live here, and suddenly, a wealthy master wants to buy her at a high price, so why don’t I let her go? With such money, I can grow my business more.”

Now Victoria seemed to understand what Helio had said before.

Mario replied. “She definitely will cry a river when she learns this. You used to treat her like your own princess.”

Victoria held her voice by her hands. She wanted to go but accidentally nudged small urns and was about to feel it. Edward and his friends heard a little noise, sending them to stop talking.

“I think someone is eavesdropping on us?” said Finneas.

“Is Victoria home and hear us? What are you going to do, Ed?” asked Mario jokingly.

Edward didn’t pay any attention and laughed easily. “Que sera-sera….”

Even if Edward knew Victoria heard his words, he didn’t care. Victoria didn’t expect to listen to painful words from the man she loved as her father.

Victoria couldn’t bear it and ran away from the home that didn’t belong to her. She almost didn’t know where to go and was afraid no place would accept her.

But then she remembered one name, sending her to the face of a large law firm building in the town where her lover worked.

Orlando Wayne was her boyfriend three years ago, and they looked like a perfect couple who loved each other, so Victoria thought so. Victoria believed that Orlando was her guardian, her lover, her everything, but what on earth was happening before her eyes right now?

“What the hell….” Victoria saw her boyfriend was in an intimate kiss with another woman, and it turned out that the woman was her sister, Angelina Addam. “ORLANDO!”

Her snap sent them shocked, then stopped to fix their clothes. Victoria was sure they would be fully naked if she were not here on time.

“What the hell did you do, Orlando? You passionately kiss another woman, and the woman is you? Angelina?” Victoria snapped at Angelina, but Angelina showed no regret.

“So, you’re back, Victoria? Seems like you’re running away from your master.”

“You’re right. Because my sister, who promised me to pay our father’s debt and help me free, apparently has been to play with her boyfriend!”

“I don’t know what is run on this damn world. You and your father… did you guys have planned to give me this surprise?”

“So you already know about your truth?”

Victoria stared at Angelina sharply.

The woman with white-milk skin walked to Victoria and said, “What a pity. I actually plan to make you still naïve so I can marry Orlando without being blessed with your anger.” Victoria widened her eyes, and Angelina hugged Orlando’s arm intimately. “What can we say? Seems like we still have to get her curse a little, right, darling?”

“You guys will get married? How can you do that?”

“Please, Victoria,” Orlando interrupted. “You already know, and we don’t have to hide anything, right? We are also sick of lying just to protect your feelings. Don’t be selfish?”

“SELFISH? You call me selfish when you two are playing on my back after sending me to that fucking hell?”

“Victoria, I love Angelina. Since day one, I have always loved her. I am only using you to get closer to her; you know so many chickens have chased this Aphrodite, so I need a little help from someone close to her.”

“And that someone is me? Why, Orlando? Is Angelina that pretty until you can do anything to get her even though you have to hurt me?”

“Why do you say that I will and must consider your feelings, Victoria? Of course, I will do anything to get Angelina. She’s damn perfect, not like you. Instead of looks like her sibling, you looks more like her maid. Please open up your mind. You can’t compete with her!”

The black-haired lady was shocked by her lover’s words. Her tears streaming down her face.

“So you never love me all this time?”

“You’re a smart person. Talking to you wasn’t that bad, but I have wanted Angelina since the first time.”

Victoria couldn’t raise her head. She let Orlando blow a thousand stones to her face by saying, “The only dull thing of yourself is your look, Victoria, and you come back to my eyes like this, make you look more pathetic than before.”

“Pfft….” Angelina laughed; she held Orlando to go. “Shall we continue it?”

“To my apartment? Or to the hotel?”

“What about my room?”

Angelina didn’t care to hug Orlando in front of Victoria.

“Can we? What if Sir Edward were home, and what about the maids….”

“What makes you uncertain, baby? After all, we’ll do it daily in my room since we’ll get married.”

“You’re right, my queen.”

Orlando went out first. Angelina still stood and looked at Victoria coldly. She didn’t look like a sister who always smiled warmly at Victoria anymore.

Heartlessly stole Victoria’s boyfriend, didn’t hesitate to hurt her by saying, “You’d better go back to your master, Victoria. You know the truth, so don’t make your master upset. Remember that you’re not a maid; you’re his slave, so you have to obey whatever your master says. If he wants you to eat shit, you have to do it. Do your best, darling, haha!”

That mocking laugh ended their meeting. Victoria didn’t know where to go anymore.

She wasn’t her father’s biological daughter. She was still her mother’s daughter, but her mother died in an airplane crash two months ago. The only one guy she could trust, even cheating with her sister. Victoria walked dazedly like a stray, starving cat alone.

Victoria’s life went down badly in a day until she couldn’t cry about it anymore.

She didn’t want to go back to Helio’s house, but she didn’t have a home either. What was life's meaning to her? She couldn’t see any life desire of anything she saw. And right now, the cars on the street seemed more interesting than anything.

“Maybe it will be good if one of them hit me crushing,” she said, walking toward the highway and preparing to die. her body was dragged away from

the street right before a high-speedy car touched her.

Victoria stiffened slightly when she heard the voice behind her. She turned, and there stood Desmond Ruthner, dressed more casually than she was used to seeing him, yet somehow still exuding a powerful aura. He carried a small stack of papers, and from his focused expression, Victoria could tell he had been in the middle of something important. His casual attire did nothing to soften the air of authority around him, and Victoria felt a sudden wave of discomfort despite her polite smile. "Good morning, Mr. Desmond," she greeted, her voice composed. "I hope I'm not disturbing your work." Desmond’s smile was warm on the surface, but there was something about it that felt off, distant. Victoria could sense his calculated presence in every movement. “Not at all, Victoria. But tell me,” his eyes flickered toward her black dress with a faint hint of amusement, “who died today? Whose funeral did you just attend?” Victoria felt her stomach clench at his words, though she kept her expression

The next morning, Victoria stood in front of her mirror, staring at her reflection with a determined expression. The scar from Helio’s slap was still there, faintly bruised but visible enough to remind her of the humiliation she had suffered the day before. She touched it gently, feeling the heat rise in her chest—not just from the pain, but from the bubbling anger and hatred she harbored for Helio. But she couldn’t let the anger consume her, not yet. Victoria closed her eyes and remembered her conversation with Amy the night before. There was something deeper to this torment, something she didn’t understand yet. Helio wasn’t just a sadistic man who enjoyed seeing her suffer—there had to be a reason behind his cruelty. He couldn’t hate her this much for no reason. Victoria’s determination flared. She had to find out what was driving him, why he seemed to have a personal vendetta against her when, as far as she knew, they had never crossed paths before their marriage. She opened her ey

The dining room was thick with tension, as if the very air had been sucked out. The maids stood frozen, their eyes wide, too afraid to move or make a sound. The echo of Helio’s slap still lingered in the air as Victoria remained on the floor, her face stinging with both pain and humiliation. Her body was shaking—not just from the shock, but from the wave of emotions crashing inside her: anger, embarrassment, and a sharp pang of disbelief. She barely had time to process the moment before Helio stepped forward and roughly grabbed her jaw, forcing her face upwards. His grip was cold and unrelenting, and Victoria found herself staring directly into his eyes. The hatred she saw there stunned her. It wasn’t just anger—it was something deeper, something that clung to him like a dark, festering grudge. But why? Her mind raced. How could he hate me this much? We never met before this. How could he have such deep resentment?Helio leaned down, his voice low and dripping with menace. "I want you

Helio sat in his room, his laptop open in front of him, but his eyes weren’t focused on the screen. His mind was elsewhere, swirling with thoughts of Victoria. The memory of last night—the look on her face, the sharpness in her voice—lingered like a bitter aftertaste. No matter how cruel he was to her, it never seemed to be enough to ease the hatred that simmered within him. She deserves more pain, he thought, his grip tightening around the pen in his hand. But as much as he hated Victoria, there was something else that clawed at the back of his mind, something far worse. A memory. Helio's gaze drifted toward the window. Snowflakes had started to fall outside, dusting the ground with a light coating of white. It was a scene eerily similar to that day. That day when everything shattered. His breathing quickened as the memory played vividly before his eyes. It had been a snowy end-of-year holiday, one that started out joyous but ended in unspeakable tragedy. Mother… His mother’s lif

Victoria walked slowly toward the mansion gate, her heels clicking softly on the gravel driveway. The cool night air brushed against her skin, but it did little to calm the storm brewing inside her. She felt utterly isolated—an outsider in this family, an unacknowledged daughter-in-law. Helio hadn’t even glanced in her direction as he left with Claudia, just as they had arrived together. The thought made her blood boil."Helio," she muttered under her breath. This is all because of him.Her car was still being repaired, and she debated whether to call an Uber. Standing outside the gate, waiting like an afterthought, was humiliating enough. The last thing she wanted was to be indebted to Arlo, who had earlier offered her a ride home with that irritating grin of his. She had politely declined, choosing this solitude over his unsettling company. As she stared into the night, a familiar car approached. Victoria blinked in surprise when the vehicle slowed down and stopped just in front of

Victoria slipped out of the dining room, desperate for a breath of fresh air after the stifling atmosphere of the dinner. The laughter and polished conversation of the Desmond family felt suffocating, each remark cutting deeper than the last, as if they were all in on a joke she wasn’t privy to. With every pointed glance and mocking smile, she felt the weight of their expectations pressing down on her, making her heart race with embarrassment and frustration. As she stepped onto the balcony, the cool night air brushed against her flushed cheeks, a welcome relief from the oppressive tension inside. But even here, under the expansive sky, thoughts of her past haunted her. Memories of Edward Addams flooded her mind—his sweet lies, his promises that he would protect her, that he would be the father she never had. Instead, he had sold her like a commodity, betraying her trust and leaving her vulnerable in the hands of Helio. She leaned against the balcony railing, the sharpness of the betr
