27. Gun men

The car was driving down the road, but it didn’t feel like we were going fast enough. Cars passed up every once in a while. Couldn’t he drive any faster? What the hell was taking so long? Were we even going the right way?

I frowned as I thought about it and looked over at Tony. He looked over at me, his eyes glowing red and before he could say something, the car jerked left. I heard a blaring horn and the crunch of glass. I heard screeching tires and pain exploded along my side as the car spun. It slammed into the side railing once, twice, three times before it finally stopped. The scent of deployed airbags and smoke drifted into my nose. I looked up, blinking through the pain and the thick, burning liquid in my eye, searing for the fire. I saw something drifting up and from the hood of the car. Then, I heard the driver’s door open. Tony’s door opened next.
