Sabrina’s POV
I ran, my bare feet sinking into the muddy ground, my breath coming in sharp gasps. The sound of footsteps grew louder as they chased me, the orange glow of their torches revealing how close they were. I lost my footing and fell. When I looked back, I saw them more clearly—there were about a hundred of them, their eyes eerily white and devoid of pupils. They seemed lost, almost like they had no control over themselves. But one thing was certain: they were after me...or perhaps not. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for my end. My years of endless suffering were finally coming to a close. One…Two…Three… I counted in my head, expecting their sharp fangs to pierce through my neck, but it never happened. Instead, there was only silence. I could hear their footsteps slowly fading away. Cautiously, I opened my eyes and saw no sign of them. Where did they go? Did they see me? A loud shriek jolted me out of my thoughts. Where did that come from? I got up and followed the sound. I tracked the wolves' footsteps, leading me to the most horrific, lifeless body I had ever seen. I fell to the ground, covering my mouth in shock, trying to stifle the scream that threatened to escape. The lifeless body lay sprawled on the ground, torn apart in a way that made my stomach churn. The sight was horrifying—limbs twisted at unnatural angles, deep gashes running across what was left of the torso, and the face... Oh, the face. It was the worst of all; eyes wide open, staring blankly at the night sky, devoid of life. Blood pooled around the mutilated body, the metallic scent threatening to make me retch. I tried to make sense of what was happening when another loud shriek came. No, it wasn’t one. Thousands of screams erupted at once, threatening to destroy my eardrums. In horror, I traced the sounds but then something was wrong. This place was all too familiar. I know this place. I walked with hastier footsteps then it all just came to me. This was Red moon pack. This was my pack. My hurried steps turned into a full sprint until I crashed into a tree, only that I didn’t feel any pain. I passed right. through it. I was in too much of a daze to figure out what that was and I kept on running until I reached the pack house borders and met a trail of lifeless bodies sprawled all over the ground. Some had transformed into their wolves while others never even got the chance to fight back. I ran deeper into the pack and found the wolves snarling and biting every soul they could find. I stood still, unable to move a single muscle at the sight before me. Why weren't the wolves attacking me? Couldn't they see me? As that thought flashed through my mind, a wolf suddenly fixed its gaze on me. His eerie white eyes locked onto mine, and he bared his bloody fangs, letting out a terrifying growl. I froze, fear paralyzing me. My feet were rooted to the ground. My eyes widened as the wolf slowly advanced, causing me to stumble and fall to the ground. The closer he came, the more I knew I needed to run, but I couldn't move. I shut my eyes tightly, bracing myself to accept my fate for the second time that night until... "Sabrina! Sabrina!! Sabrina!!!" Someone yelled my name, shaking me vigorously. My eyes flew wide open, my breathing ragged. It took me some time to recognize my surroundings until they finally landed on Anne who had an ugly scowl on her face. It was all a dream. “Raunchy dreams?” she remarked with a sly smile, “Seeing how sweaty you are, he must have rammed you real hard.” “What do you want ?” I asked ignoring her taunts. My nonchalant response seemed to strike a nerve, as Anne violently grabbed my chin and spoke through gritted teeth, “That better not have been Alpha Damon you were dreaming about because if it was…” “…and if it was, what would you do?” I said calmly. She released my chin forcefully, tilting my head to the side. “Alpha Damon wouldn’t even spare you a glance. To him you’re nothing but an object. A slave.” She scoffed and made to leave with her head up high before she halted her steps, “Speaking of Alpha Damon, He wants you to meet him at the dining. Don’t keep him waiting.” And with that, she left. I sank into my bed with a loud sigh the moment Anne left. Bizarre of her to think I had the hots for my enslaver, someone I had never seen, but that was the last thing on my mind right now. My weird dream consumed my thoughts. I tried to decipher it. The wolves, my pack, being able to walk through trees… I ran my fingers through my damp hair. Anne was right, I sweated buckets because my fingers couldn’t even pass through the wet locks of my hair. I sighed again. Maybe I should take the dream to be just what it was…a weird dream. I shook my head got rid of any more thoughts of the dream and started my morning. I made my bed, the creaky wooden frame shaking as I smoothed the wrinkly sheets. My room. A tiny space carved out from a storage room down in the basement. Just a few days ago, this room was a cluttered storage area, packed to the brim with boxes, old furniture, and dusty ornaments. It was a chaotic mess, with barely enough room to squeeze through the narrow pathways between the stacks of stuff. Looking around, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had decluttered everything, stacking them up in one corner of the room. Even though it was still cramped, I had created a manageable area for myself. I took a quick shower and headed out to the kitchen not wanting Anne to barge in again with her loud voice, yelling about how I’m no longer a princess but a slave and should act like one. Just as I exited my room, a hand suddenly grabbed me and pinned me to the wall. “Didn’t I summon you, Sabrina?” a low, deep voice boomed throughout the basement.Sabrina’s POVI couldn’t stop pacing. Back and forth, my bare feet brushed against the cold floor, waiting for Damon to come. I was anxious...who wouldn't be after having such a vision.I turned at every slight noise, hoping Damon would walk through that door and tell me that the witch was dead, I wouldn't have any reason to worry.I pressed my temples. I still couldn't wrap my head salting the fact that Nymeria was a twin. Now it finally made sense. No wonder the woman in my vision had felt so different. She had Nymeria’s face but there was something dark about her features. Not the dark makeup—like shadows bleeding under her skin. Ominous, suffocating, like she carried death inside her. Nymeria had always been calm, kind, her presence steadying. Nothing like what I’d seen. But then another thought clawed at me. If Damon knew Nymeria’s sister was the witch who cursed him, why keep Nymeria close? Why take that risk at all? Damon wasn’t careless—he was the opposite of it. Everything he
Damon's POVI pulled Sabrina into a bone-crushing hug, holding her tightly to stop her little frame from trembling so much. She kept on sobbing, repeating the same words."I killed you! I drive the knife through your chest!"It felt like a hand was squeezing around my heart seeing her like this. Just what had she seen to make her react this way? Me dying?"Breathe, little mouth. Calm down. I've got you." I cooed, running my hand through her hair as her head rested on my shoulders. At last, the violent sobs were quieted down. Her breath still hitched, but she was not choking on her tears anymore. She withdrew and looked at me with swollen eyes.“Damon,” she whispered hoarsely, “my visions… they always come to pass. I’m so scared.”I hissed, the sound coming out of me before I could prevent it. When I heard she was a gifted wolf, I was elated, thinking how she'd be able to protect herself properly once her wolf surfaces. Her seeing visions made me think she had the upper hand, but boy w
Damon’s POVThe doctor’s words were like razors scraping in the inside of my ears.“I cannot verify what’s wrong with her,” he said carefully, wringing his hands as though my glare might snap his neck. “All we can do is wait… and hope she wakes.”Hope?I clenched my teeth so hard my jaw ached. Hope was not enough. I had left the council hall when Nanny Tessa burst in, frantic, gasping that Sabrina had collapsed. My heart had stopped then and I loved without a second thought, storming out of the council hall and head to her room. Now, I was watching her lay unmoving, her body still as stone on the mattress, her skin pale like all the blood had been drained from them.Earlier, Anne, one of the kitchen servants, had been the only one coherent enough to explain what happened. Her voice had trembled as she recalled it: Sabrina had been fine, laughing even, until suddenly her eyes lit with a blinding white glow. Light so bright it made the other girls duck. Then she collapsed suddenly, go
Sabrina's POV Back in my room, I freshened up and put on my Kitchen and headed to the kitchen. My least money with Damon left off strange and awakened, but that did not rid me of the joy I felt in my chest. I felt…free, loved, accepted. With that joy, I entered the kitchen, all smiles. I hoped that I would be greeted with cheerful faces, possibly a squeal or two. I was excited to see the girls. They must’ve known I was back, news traveled fast in this pack. The last time we saw each other, they were all crying, afraid they wouldn’t see me again. However, it all seemed wrong as I entered the kitchen. There was the rattle of pots and chopping knives, but the chatter that usually filled the kitchen was absent. The girls paused when they noticed my presence and I smiled widely at them, expecting the same from them but instead, they went back to their duties and ignored me like I were air. My brows knitted. “Hello,” I said softly, my voice laced with uncertainty but I got no respo
Damon’s POV Ian adjusted Danielle in his arms, her whole frame trembling. Her neck was what was hurt, but for some reason she couldn’t stand on her own feet by herself. She wanted me to see, to feel sorry. Unfortunately, I didn’t. Despite acting all fragile and wounded, she still managed to glare at Sabrina. The malicious intent pricked at my skin and my wolf wanted nothing more then to rip her into shreds to prevent any future attempt. The guards stood at the door, uncertain of what was happening, all the while waiting for orders. I had called for them long ago, but they all arrived when the damage had already been done. “Take her to her room and call for the pack doctor,” Ian ordered, trying to hand Danielle lever to them. “No.” I spoke before anyone could move. I glanced coldly at Danielle who had a look of confusion on her face. “Take her to the dungeon, until further notice.” Danielle’s face blanched, then contorted with shock. “What?” Her voice was hoarse from my grip on
Sabrina’s POV“I was sure I heard sounds coming from your room last night!” Danielle’s high-pitched voice rang across the room, “Ian told me you were down with something, told me not to bother you, but I was right, wasn’t I?!” Her chest heaved as if she had sprinted all the way here, her eyes bulging as they flicked between Damon and me.I froze, every muscle in my body grew stiff with tension. Anne had told me how vicious Danielle was…she didn’t exaggerate. But I was finally happy for the first time in my life, and I wouldn’t let an obsessed woman snatch that away from me. So I held her gaze, glaring at her with the same intensity.Damon pulled away from me and turned to Danielle. “What are you doing here, Danielle?” The irritation in his voice couldn’t be missed. “I warned you before didn’t I? Enter my room without permission again, and you will face consequences.”But she was far past reason.“That’s not the point, Damon!” Danielle shrieked, her voice cracking. “How do you expect m
