~Niki~

We burst into Jace’s room and he kicked the door shut behind us, shoved the heavy dresser across it with one shoulder like it weighed nothing, wood scraping loud against the floor while my heart was still jackhammering from the hallway sprint.

I didn’t make it far.

My legs just gave out halfway across the room and I slid down the wall slow, knees to my chest, hands shaking so bad I couldn’t even hide them.

Face throbbed where Luna hit me, lip split and crusty with dried blood, cheeks hot and swollen, but that wasn’t even the worst part.

The worst part was everything crashing in at once Elara screaming whore, Luna’s palm cracking across my face twice, the Alpha’s dick in my face like I was nothing, and now enforcers coming and Jace dragging me like I was worth saving when I knew I wasn’t.

Air wouldn’t come right.

I gasped, choked, gasped again, chest tight like someone parked a truck on it.

Jace spun around, saw me on the floor, and dropped the bag he’d already started stuffing.

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 39

~Areum~Things got weirder after that last blackout, like the curse decided it wasn't enough to just almost kill people, it had to throw in some ghost drama to really spice up the party. Rowan holed up in his quarters more, barely talking, and when he did it was grunts or snaps that made everyone jumpy. Me? I stuck close, because what else was I gonna do, let him drown in his own misery? But deep down, all I wanted was for him to snap out of it, to go back to being that strong, perfect alpha everyone looked up to, not this broken shell who couldn't look me in the eye without wincing. I mean, yeah, I was pissed at the elders for pushing this new Luna crap, but mostly I just wanted Rowan fixed, happy, whole again, like before Jace left and everything went to hell.It hit during one of his naps another blackout, but this time no lashing out, just him thrashing on the bed, eyes wide open but seeing nothing real. I was there, had snuck in with some food because the idiot wasn't eating, and

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 38

~Areum~I found him later in his quarters. He was staring at a map, but not really seeing it. Eyes distant."Knock knock," I said, leaning in the doorway. He glanced up. "Areum. What?""You look like crap. Again.""Thanks."I stepped in. Shut the door. "Heard the elders talking."He tensed. "About?""You. The curse. How I'm a weak Luna with a weak southern Alpha and they wanna gift-wrap you a new mate like it's your birthday."He laughed. Bitter. "Fuck them.""Yeah. But they're serious. Pushing for it."He slammed a fist on the table. "I don't need a new Luna. I need… ""To get better ?" I cut in, eyebrow up.He glared. "Don't start.""Oh, I'm starting. You've been a mess. Admit it.""Shut up.""No. You almost killed Tomas yesterday because your head's up."He stood up fast. "It's not about me!""Bullshit!" I snapped back. He growled. Paced. "You don't get it.""Try me."He stopped. Looked at me. Eyes raw. "The curse... it's worse. Blackouts more frequent. And yeah, Jace usually pull

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 37

~Areum~Ever since Jace and that little firecracker Niki took off for whatever secret squirrel mission Rowan cooked up, things around here turned into a total shitshow faster than you could say "alpha meltdown." I mean, I get it, I was holding him together I thought but Rowan's been acting like a toddler who lost his favorite toy except the toy's a full-grown Alphas mind, and the toddler's our pack alpha who could snap necks without breaking a sweat. It's been weeks now, and every day feels like we're all tiptoeing around a bomb with a faulty timer. Me? I'm just trying to keep my head down, do my duties as the pack's unofficial babysitter for the big bad wolf, but Rowan's misbehaving has hit new lows, and it's got everyone on edge, whispering behind hands like that's gonna save them if he snaps. It started small, you know? Rowan barking orders louder than usual, skipping meals, pacing the halls at night like a ghost with insomnia. But then came the blackouts. His curse whatever ancien

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 36

~Jace~We stumbled into the bathroom like two drunks who’d forgotten how legs work. Niki shoved me ahead of him, hand fisted in the back of my shirt like he was afraid I’d bolt if he let go. Door slammed shut behind us. Lock clicked. He flipped on the light. It was harsh and bright. It made my swollen face look even worse, lip split, cheek puffy and red, little smears of blood on my chin. I caught my reflection in the mirror and snorted.“Jesus. I look like I lost a fight with a lawnmower.”Niki didn’t laugh. He just stared at me in the mirror over my shoulder. Eyes still red. Still wet. But something else there now. Something hungry and pissed off at the same time.“Strip,” he said.I raised an eyebrow. Blood cracked on my lip when I smirked. “Bossy tonight, huh?”“Shut up and take your clothes off before I rip them off.”“Promise?”He stepped closer. Pressed his chest to my back. Hands sliding around my waist. Fingers digging in hard enough to bruise. “Don’t test me, Jace. Not toni

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 35

~Jace~I ran like my ass was on fire and the devil was handing out free lighters. Boots slamming stone, lungs burning, heart trying to punch its way out of my chest like it personally wanted to murder me for what I’d just done. The hallway stretched forever. I skidded around the last corner, nearly face-planted into the wall, and there it was our door. Shut. Quiet. “Niki! Open the damn door!”Nothing.I hit it again. Harder. “Niki, I swear to God, if you don’t open this right now I’m gonna… ”The wood didn’t budge. No footsteps. No yelling back. Just silence so thick it felt like someone had stuffed cotton in my ears.I pressed my forehead against the door, breathing hard. “Please.”Still nothing. My alpha scent was going haywire already sharp guilt, sour regret, desperate need all spiking so hard the hallway probably smelled like a dumpster fire made of feelings. I could feel it leaking out of me, pressing against the crack under the door like a dog trying to shove its nose through.

  • Sold to the cursed Alpha    Chapter 34

~Jace~I slammed the door behind me so hard the whole frame rattled, and then I just stood there in the hallway like an idiot, staring at the wood like it might give me answers. My cheek still burned from Niki’s slap, it felt like a brand and my ears were ringing from the way his voice cracked when he told me to get out. I’d fucked up. I’d fucked up so bad I could taste it, bitter and thick at the back of my throat. But part of me the ugly, spiteful part kept whispering that he needed to hear it. Needed the reality check. Needed to stop living in this fantasy where he was the center of everyone’s world, where Rowan had just been waiting for the right moment to claim him, where I was the consolation prize who’d eventually fall in line.Bullshit.The truth was uglier. The truth was I’d wanted to hurt him. I wanted him to feel the same gut-punch I felt every time he looked at me like I was second-best. Every time he got that faraway look when Rowan’s name came up. Every time he pretended
