No hello or sweet greetings. No word of concern either. He always got straight to the point, cold and rude like he couldn't wait to hang up. It was like she was some virus that he couldn't wait to avoid.

"Aren't you forgetting what I said yesterday?" Elise asked.

"What?" He sounded impatient.

Elise already expected this answer, but it still hurted. When a person doesn't care for another, he would forget anything about that person. He would treat everything she does and says as insignificant. In fact, he might not remember anything between them. It was Elise who remembered every detail of him, his preferences and taste.

"Come to the courthouse to finalize the divorce at 2 p.m. I'll be waiting for you," Elise sucked in a breath, controlling the tears from falling. Crying over a jerk like Kayden wasn't worth it.

"I'm busy. Some other day," With that, he hung up on her.

Elise stared at the screen, chuckling bitterly to herself as the tears that she tried so hard to control started to slip down her cheeks. The cab driver looked at her worriedly.

"Miss, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Just got bitten by a dog."

"Miss, uh... Excuse me for being busybody, but are you going to the courthouse to get a divorce?" The middle-aged man looked at her through the rearview mirror.

"Yes, but he doesn't want to, or he thinks it's a joke, that I'm trying to get his attention. He has a mistress and he brought her home. I don't want to stay there anymore," Elise choked on her tears.

The driver sighed. "I feel sorry for you, miss. You're still so young yet you're married. It would be better if you could kidnap him and drag him over to the courthouse."

She was reminded of the time they went to register their marriage. She waited for him in the snow for one whole day before he turned up. At that time, he was in a wheelchair. She helped push him into the building when he snapped at her. She thought that he was cold and grumpy because of the accident. It turned out that he didn't like her at all.

Elise thought that her sincere love would be able to melt his cold heart. It turned out that it was all a fairytale.

"Sir, can you turn around and head to the Anderson Group?" Elise suddenly had an idea.

At the Anderson Group, Elise walked in and went up to the receptionist, a young woman with specs.

"How can I help you?" The receptionist asked, looking her over. Elise was dressed in a plain blouse and skirt. She looked like a housemaid rather than the madam of the prestigious Anderson family.

"I'm looking for Mr. Anderson," Elise noticed the way they were looking at her, probably thinking that she was some broke girl who wanted to seduce Kayden.

"I'm sorry, but Mr. Anderson is outside having lunch with Mrs. Anderson. He won't be back for about two hours," The receptionist's eyes held disdain in them. Who did she think she was to come and see the CEO?

Mrs. Anderson? Who? Jessica?

Elise chuckled to herself. The real Mrs. Anderson was standing right in front of everyone, yet no one recognized her. Did Kayden go around introducing Jessica as his wife? Elise's heart had been trampled over and over again.

"It's okay. I'll wait at the lounge."

Elise opened her bag and placed a Marshall speaker on the couch. Then she connected her Bluetooth to it. She took out her phone and started to type in something. Elise texted someone, a victorious smile appearing at the corners of her lips.

Kayden and Jessica walked arm in arm to the office. The employees greeted them, bowing slightly. Suddenly, a loud sound echoed across the company.

"Kayden Anderson, I, Elise Thatcher, shall divorce you today! Reasons: 1. Bringing a mistress home. 2. Unable to satisfy my basic needs in bed. 3. Rude and ill-mannered husbands are useless! Please meet me at the courthouse now!"

The jaws of the employees dropped to the floor. They all looked at Jessica. Jessica shrank back, clinging tightly onto his arm.

"Oh my god, is that true? I thought she was Mrs. Anderson."

"So she's the mistress."

"Mr. Anderson's grandma won't be pleased." The hushed whispers and funny looks the employees were giving Jessica were enough to make Kayden and her boil with anger.

"What's going on!? Who played this?!" Kayden's face was red and seconds away from exploding.

"I-I... Uh... Just now, a woman came in looking for you," the receptionist shivered and looked at the floor.

Kayden's face contorted with rage. "Where is she?"

The receptionist pointed to the lounge. Kayden stormed into the lounge where he found Elise sitting calmly on the couch, one leg crossed over the other.

"There you are, soon-to-be ex-husband. Let's go now. The cab's waiting for us," Elise taunted, smiling mischievously at him.

"Elise Thatcher, are you out of your mind?!" He strode forward and grabbed her by the neck, his large fingers squeezing her neck.

How dare she humiliate him?! What did she mean by can't satisfy in bed and rude and ill-mannered?! Moreover, he was stunned by her guts. Since when did she become so bold?

"Break my neck and you'll be spending your lifetime in jail, soon-to-be ex-husband," Elise laughed, her eyes glinting.

Kayden looked at her like she was an alien. Where was the soft-spoken and docile wife of his? The obedient and gentle wife who would coax him at the slightest hint of his anger?

"Elise, don't test my patience. I only married you because of grandma. Go home now; I'm not going to the courthouse," he released her neck. She noticed the throbbing veins on his hand.

He wanted to divorce her but then didn't want to finalize it? Did he enjoy torturing her and neglecting her? Or did he just want her to stay miserable in the Anderson mansion and get ridiculed by the world?

Jackson got out of his car and ran towards the bar. He found the woman dancing with the two men. He turned her around. However, he was staring at a different face. This wasn't Elise. It was an older woman who had the same figure as Elise from behind. "Who are you? What do you want?" the woman snapped. "I'm sorry. I thought you were a friend of mine," Jackson was taken aback. "Crazy," the woman scoffed and walked off. Jackson looked around, trying to search for anyone who looked like Elise, only to realize that he might have been fooled. So he quickly texted Kayden. Jackson: Sir, it's not her. I think I've been fooled. I have no idea whether I've been following her or a body double. Kayden saw the message and cursed. "Kayden, what's wrong?" Jessica asked gently. She leaned her head towards his shoulder and tried to read the message, but he placed his phone face down, preventing he

Seems like he must go to Massachusetts if he wanted to know more about her. Then Kayden noticed Jackson giving him a funny look. "What are you looking at?" "Sir, are you interested in Miss Elise?" Jackson asked, hiding his smile. "No. I'm just interested in her true identity. She hasn't paid for humiliating me," At the thought of that, Kayden clenched his fists. "But you're willing to fly to Massachusetts to find her. So far, Miss Jessica is the only one whom you care to travel distances for," "You seem to like Elise yourself," Kayden said, directing the topic away from himself. "She was quite nice to all of us," "Quite nice?" Kayden frowned. "She treated us well. The guards and staff. Whenever she came to deliver your meals, she would give us some too. She claims that she cooked too much and Maria doesn't like these foods, so she's giving them to us

"Oh, uh, sorry about that, Mr. Anderson. I didn't recognize you just now," Adrian said politely. Kayden felt better when Adrian treated him with respect. "Thank you for stepping up for Ele," Adrian said, hand outstretched to shake Kayden's. Ele again. Kayden disliked it. He glared at Adrian's hand. Apparently, Adrian didn't know that he was Elise's ex-husband. Elise pulled back Adrian's hand. "He's my ex-husband," "What?" Adrian looked at her and then at Kayden in shock. "I am," Kayden confirmed. Adrian straightened his back and glared at Kayden. Suddenly, the friendliness was gone. He now regarded Kayden like an enemy. Did Elise say bad things about him behind his back? All Adrian knew was that Elise's husband treated her like shit, so that's why they divorced. This was the man who hurt his cousin. How could he thank him? He already knew how capable

"Since it was an accident, why do you need to act so worriedly? Guilty conscience?" Elise was smug. "Who said I have a guilty conscience? It's just that I've wasted enough time here. Now that it's a misunderstanding and that I must have seen it wrongly, I have to get on my way. I'm not like you, who has a lot of free time to spend," she scoffed. "Don't worry. I won't waste your time," Elise smiled. "You are. You know what? I'm not going to bother with you. You're just twisting and turning facts. What's a woman who dropped out of school at 16 doing here in a university that's meant for elites? It can't be that you're here to pick up on your studies," Megan sneered. "Oh, so it was Maria who told you to get revenge on her behalf?" Elise knew what kind of person Maria was. Maria wouldn't hesitate to take revenge. She must be still fuming after getting slapped. She only told the Andersons that she dropped out of s

"You think I'm seducing Adrian? Making assumptions isn't good behavior. I wonder what you learned here anyway," Elise said calmly. "So you know who I am?" "You're Kayden's ex-wife, and a cheap, dirty woman," Megan emphasized, crossing her arms, trying to intimidate Elise. Why did that line sound familiar? It sounded like what Maria would say. "Then who are you?" Elise asked, acting dumb and ignorant. "That's none of your business. I'm here to give you a warning. Stay away from Adrian, or it won't be just hot coffee," Megan warned, smirking victoriously. This girl was easy to deal with. Why did Maria say that she was hard? In the end, Elise would be scared of her and cowering in the corner. "Then I shall give you a warning too, Megan Cameron," Elise smirked, approaching her. Megan's eyes went wide. How did she know her name? "Touch or hurt me, and I won't let you go

"Isn't that Elise?" Liam pointed at a figure in the distance. Kayden turned immediately, as if excited to see her. Elise was dressed in a black suit and slacks. Her hair was tied up in a trendy bun with a few strands hanging loose. Why was she everywhere? "That's Elise Thatcher, Kayden's ex-wife?" Megan asked, pointing at Elise. She wanted to make sure before enacting revenge on behalf of Maria. Megan didn't like others outshining her and stealing her limelight. Hence, she was more than happy to make Elise suffer. "That's her. She's quite cool," Liam said. In the beginning, he thought that she was useless. But bit by bit, Liam began to see Elise in a new light. This woman could not only race, but she seemed very capable. She even managed to get under Kayden's skin and successfully escape from him many times. That was a feat that no one had achieved. She remembered what Maria had
