MasukThe butler passed her the papers with a reluctant look. For the past three years, Elise had sacrificed and given her best to Kayden. But what did he give her? Nothing! Not even a gift or flowers! The only beautiful gift he had given her was these divorce papers.
"I think I should go. I'm sorry," Jessica said, sounding like she really was sorry. "This isn't a good time." "Jessie, you're not going anywhere," Kayden said gently to her. He held her arm, pulling her back. "I've prepared this specifically for you. Don't go, Jessie." Jessie, an endearing name he only used for Jessica while he always called Elise by her full name. Elise wanted to laugh at herself for being a fool. Why didn't she see it sooner? That her husband was cheating on her? Actually, she had noticed the signs, but she was too absorbed in her head, thinking that Kayden would love her. Bringing Jessica home was the last straw that broke the camel's back. Elise flung the papers at Kayden's face. Kayden glared at her in surprise. The people around them gasped in shock. How could Elise do this to Kayden, a multimillionaire and her husband?! "I've signed it. Don't worry. Jessie doesn't need to leave. I'll leave," Elise mocked as she walked past them. However, Kayden grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her back, his grip bruising and punishing. "Where do you think you're going? Kneel and apologize to Jessie!" "Apologize to her? For what?" Elise blinked her eyes innocently. She fought back a wince. Kayden was increasing his grip on her arm as if he wanted to break it. "For scaring her. You should treat her with respect." Elise burst out laughing, catching everyone off guard. Her heart felt like it was hit by a sledgehammer over and over again. "You want me, your legal wife, to apologize to your mistress? Kayden, do you know what you're saying?" Kayden's eyes darkened. "Jessie is not a mistress. Watch your mouth, Elise. I do not like to repeat myself." "Why should I apologize when I haven't done anything wrong? Besides, she's the one in my house," Elise couldn't help but laugh. "This is no longer your house." That sentence pricked Elise's heart, causing her throat to tighten. This was never her house. "Then tomorrow, let's go to the courthouse and finalize the divorce. By then, this house will not be mine," Elise's eyes glinted. "How greedy you are, Elise Thatcher," he sneered. No matter what she did or how she tried to prove herself to him, he would never believe her. In his eyes, she was always clinging onto him for money. So why not play along? She didn't care about his opinions anymore. Suddenly, Jessica fainted. Maria let out a surprised scream. Hearing that, Kayden let go of Elise's arm and quickly scooped Jessica up bridal-style. He strode out of the mansion and placed her gently in the back seat of the car, treating her like a princess. "Today was our anniversary. Yet you welcomed home a mistress. Kayden Anderson, I'm done with your bullshit," Elise watched her husband drive off. The further the car went, the more Elise's heart sank. It sank to the bottom of the deepest and coldest ocean. A few minutes later, her phone rang. It was Kayden calling her. This was the first time her husband had called her, and it was for her to apologize to Jessica in the hospital. "Elise, come to the hospital and apologize to Jessie. Jessie has a weak heart. How could you scare her like that? You have fifteen minutes to show up before me before I crush your father's business," he warned coldly. Elise laughed. How foolish she had been. Six months ago, Kayden had recovered from his wheelchair. Once he could walk again, he started to treat Elise more coldly than ever. "What are you laughing for?" He questioned. "Nothing. I'll be there," Elise chuckled before she hung up. She turned around and looked at the house she had stayed in with the love of her life. She once thought that everything would be a fairytale and she could win his heart. Unfortunately, it was a nightmare. Elise reached the hospital in no time. Jessica lay on the bed, looking pale and sickly. "Where's my husband?" Elise asked. "He went to get me something to drink. Elise, are you really going to divorce Kayden?" Jessica asked gently, calling Elise's husband affectionately. Elise could see that Jessica was doing it on purpose to get under her skin, to provoke her by playing innocent. It wasn't like she hadn't seen women like this. "Isn't that what you wished for? Jessica, I'll grant you your wish," Elise replied calmly. Jessica looked at Elise, shocked and surprised. From what she knew, Elise was madly in love with Kayden. No woman would give up their rich husband to someone else. Maybe Elise was playing hard to get. Did she think that Kayden would fall for it? Jessica rolled off the bed just at the moment Kayden walked in. He quickly ditched the two cups of coffee in his hands and rushed over to help her up. Watching her husband help another woman in front of her eyes showed the cruel reality to her. Elise felt like crying and smashing something; she felt like throwing a tantrum and confronting Kayden, but there was no point in all of that. Kayden only had eyes for Jessica. "Ow! It hurts!" Jessica cried. She cuddled up in Kayden's arms and tears started to slip down her cheeks. "Jessie, are you okay? Why did you fall? Elise, why didn't you help her up?" He glared at her coldly. What's wrong with Kayden? Can't he see I'm not a maid? "Why should I help someone who has nothing to do with me?" That sentence stunned Kayden. He watched as a cold smile spread across Elise's lips. Elise, who was usually soft-spoken, docile, and polite, was now biting back at him. It seemed like she had changed overnight. This was all to get his attention, wasn't it? "Enough of playing games, Elise. Do you think this will make me look at you?" He sneered. Jessica glanced at Elise, looking like a scaredy-kitten. "Jessie, tell me the truth. Did she push you?" Kayden demanded."Your shoes are right in front of you," Kayden said, appearing behind her.Elise looked down at a pair of white shoes."Is this...?""Free of charge," he leaned against the doorframe, eyeing her as she slipped on the shoes.Surprisingly, they were her size and very comfortable. After Kayden found out about her swollen feet, he ordered Jackson to buy a pair of comfortable shoes. Jackson had to run back and forth in the middle of the night to do his boss' bidding."I've called a cab for you," Kayden interrupted her just as she was about to swipe on her phone. Why is he acting so considerate? Something must be off. She glanced at him askance.A cab arrived and Elise quickly left. Kayden watched the car leave until it became a dot in the distance."Sir, why are you toying with Miss Thatcher?" Jackson had dark circles under his eyes."Toying? Not bad. I like this word," Kayden didn't answer the ques
A few seconds passed before Elise broke into a wide smile. "I'm your grandma! Hahaha!"Kayden had a hard night before he finally could rest.Elise rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Sunlight poured into the room. She yawned and stretched her arms. This bed was very comfortable and soft.Where was she? Elise sprang out of bed, tumbling over the quilt. She glanced around, making a beeline for the exit—wherever it might be.In the hallway, there was a large photo of Kayden and Jessica. The two of them looked like a happy couple. Elise's heart sank. She was in Kayden's house. The house he shared with Jessica. The walls seemed to squeeze in on her, and she felt dizzy. She picked up her pace, heading to the door. Just as she was about to turn the knob, a cold but magnetic male voice resounded."Do you think that you can just go?""Yes. Why?" She turned and saw Kayden smirking at her like he had her in his palm.He was
Elise stepped on a pebble and lost her balance. A hand snaked around her waist before she could hit the road. "Thank you, handsome," Elise patted his cheek, flirting with him. He noticed that her cheeks were flushed and she seemed lightheaded. Her steps weren't steady either. Was she drunk? "Elise, come here!" As he led her to the pavement, he noticed many men stealing glances at her. He could dump her here, but it was dangerous. It was not that he cared. He just didn't want people looking at his ex-wife. What a ridiculous dress! Where did she think she was going, wearing a dress like this? The thought of her dressing up for Ellison or some other man made Kayden disgusted. He dragged her to the car and stuffed her into the back seat, ignoring her protests. "Who are you?" she asked, her tone cold. But she looked at him like a frightened little rabbit. "Can't recognize me?" To his surprise, this version of Elise was more interesting than the previous housewife version. "How a
Kayden brought Jessica to the hospital under the Anderson Group. When Jessica saw the hospital's sign, she tensed up. She tugged gently on his arm to get his attention while acting meek. "Kayde, let's go to another hospital," Jessica said. "Why?" he asked. "I just...," Jessica schooled her expression, hoping he didn't catch the signs in her eyes. "It's just that I've been going to that doctor for checkups. He has the records and files of my health there. So it makes things easier if we visit him," Jessica said. It made sense. Kayden didn't think much of it. He drove them to another hospital under the Paige Group, Jessica's family. He brought her to Dr. Paul, Jessica's doctor. Jessica and Paul walked into the room while Kayden waited outside. Many minutes later, Paul came out with the report in hand. "Good news. The baby is okay. Miss Paige only suffered from a sprained ankle as a result of being pushed. But she's okay. You're lucky she didn't fall too hard. It would have caused
"What are you going to do? Don't forget who helped you when you were drugged. Is this how you repay favors?" She glared at him coldly."That's a different thing," he said coldly. "Then you should take responsibility for kissing me and tearing my dress. It's a different thing too, isn't it?" Elise said loudly.Kissing?! Tearing her dress?! Jessica's eyes bulged with anger as she looked between Kayden and Elise. No way! Don't tell her that they did..."I will. How much do you want? I'll compensate you?" Kayden scoffed.Elise rolled her eyes. As expected of him, thinking that money can solve everything."Do you think money is the problem here, Mr. Anderson? How did your parents teach you?""Don't insult my parents, Elise. Isn't money what you want?"Who in this world wouldn't want money? Money was power and it commands the world. Isn't that why Elise was going with the King brothers?Elise chuckled at him."Why are you laughing?" He didn't like it when he couldn't understand what she wa
Elise called the receptionist to deliver over a hundred ice packs. The receptionist, still thinking that they were a couple, thought that they were playing some kind of kinky game. After two hours in the tub with the ice packs, Elise helped him out and nearly dragged him to the bed.The drug had exhausted his strength. Kayden lay on the bed, his eyes closed as sleep swallowed him. She pulled the blanket over him and sighed, wiping the sweat from her forehead."Damn. Why am I so unlucky?"Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Elise went to answer it.It must be the receptionist with the drink I ordered, she thought. The moment the door opened, Elise came face to face with Jessica. She looked behind Elise and saw Kayden on the bed, asleep. Her face fell and she couldn't control her expression."Why is Kayden in your room, Elise? What did you do to him?" The gentle tone was gone from Jessica's voice.Elise remembered every nasty thing Jessica had done to her. The threats and taunts vi
"Wait," Elise was busying herself in the hotel, inspecting the rooms and kitchen, when she heard a familiar voice call out to her. She turned and saw that Kayden was striding towards her, a scowl on his face as if the whole world owed him money. "What
All the eyes of the staff fell on Elise. Ava looked around but didn't see anything or anyone looking like a manager. Until she noticed that all the staff were looking in one direction.Elise? She was the manager?! How was that possible?"You? The manager? Can you even manage a h

Jackson got out of his car and ran towards the bar. He found the woman dancing with the two men. He turned her around. However, he was staring at a different face. This wasn't Elise. It was an older woman who had the same figure as Elise from behind. "Who are you? What do you want?
