Chapter 5

As promised Nate drove home to check on his sister, she was basically the only person he had in this world.

He could see the fear in her eyes when she heard about the marriage arrangements.

He'd never understand why their father would make such an arrangement without telling either of them, not even Su that was the person involved the more in the contract

Maybe because he didn't want any of them to oppose not that they could, him especially.

He knew better than to go against their father, he knows the consequences of making such a move.

He didn't really find much in his online investigation last night, but he already knew enough to know that Spade was not a good person for his sister, and their father knew this, but he was too greedy to care

Unlike the previous day, he didn't find his sister in the kitchen, he had to go meet her upstairs.

Lucky for him, his father wasn't in sight either.

He walked up the stairs and through the hallway, his steps quickened because the last thing he wanted right now was to have a run in with his father, he didn't have to know he was home

He held the contract under his arm as he knocked on his sister's door, praying she opened the door quickly for him, so he could go in

Less than a few seconds after he knocked, she opened and smiled up at him before stepping aside for him to walk in.

He walked in and went straight to the bed to sit down

He let out a sigh of relief as he sat down

"What? No hug for your favorite sister"? His sister's voice made him look up, she had a smile on and her brows cocked sideways.

"You're my only sister Su" he muttered giving her a pointed look, she just sighed before walking towards him on the bed and pulling him in for a hug

"Well, if you're not gonna give me a hug, I'll give you one" she muttered making him chuckle lightly, before wrapping his own arms around her

She pulled away before her eyes landed on the file in his hands

"You brought work here"? She asked pointedly and he just sighed out and shook his head.

"No, this is uh..." He paused trying to think of a way to tell her "this is the contract" he muttered looking at her, she was even more confused than before

"What contract Nate"? She asked and he just sighed out

"The binding contract between Spade and Dad" he muttered and she swallowed her face going pale

"You mean the contract that will automatically get me stuck with Spade forever"? She asked and he just sighed out and nodded

"Why do you have it"? She asked

"I wanted to check for any loopholes, something that can make you get out of this" he muttered

"And...? Did you find any"? She asked and he just shook his head

"No, it's all very straightforward and very legal" he muttered his eyes drifting to the file again, it really was very legal, there was no loopholes or fault that he could point out

"So does that mean I get to marry him"? She whispered her voice laced with despair, he just sighed out and put his hands on hers

"I.... I don't know Su, I can't... I can't find anything that I can use against him, I've checked and even asked a few people but there's nothing on this guy that's solid enough to blackmail him with or negotiate with him" he whispered feeling the guilt deep in his gut, he didn't want his sister to end up with Spade, but he was running out of options and he couldn't just outrightly walk up to his father and tell him he didn't like the idea of his sister getting tied down to Spade.

She sighed out and looked at him before smiling sadly

"Well uhm... I guess I'm stuck with Spade" she muttered trying to lighten the mood

"I'm still trying to think of something but...." She cut him off holding his hands in hers

"Hey, it's okay, you've tried your best and I'm grateful for that" she whispered and he just looked at her sadly "if I'm going to be tied down with him, I'll give him a few rules of my own, after all, it's my life we're talking about here" she mutttered smiling.

He let out a deep breathe and squeeze her hands lightly before returning her smile.

"Anyway, before we go all sappy and shit, I'm gonna puke" she mutttered and he just starts laughing making her laugh too

She had the most beautiful smile he had ever seen, just like their mom, she was an exact replica of their mom, seeing her felt like he was seeing their mother.

"What's up with you"? She asked folding her legs together on the bed, he sighed out and faced front

"Nothing much, you know the usual, work and stuff" he muttered summarizing his whole life and routine in a few sentences for her.

She nodded slowly still looking at him

"So you're trying to tell me there's no girl involved yet"? She asked and he just looks at her before shaking his head.

"Even a one night stand"? She pressed and he just gave her a pointed look making her shrug her shoulders

"Not even that very hot secretary of yours"? She asked and he just rolled his eyes at her

"No, there's no girl Su, stop asking, I'm very comfortable the way I am" he muttered

"You know, you can't keep going like this? You need a girlfriend, someone to have a life with, share things with" she whispered softly and he just sighed out

"I don't need anyone, I have you and I'm okay with that" he muttered looking away from his sister.

"I know you're okay with just us two but you have to get yourself a girlfriend, you know I'm not gonna be here forever" she whispered and he almost groan out, his sister can be very stubborn when she wants to be.

She had been pressing him on this issue of having a girl in his life, and he keeps telling her that he doesn't need any girl in his life, he already had her and that was more than enough for him, and besides he didn't really have anyone he fancied or liked at the moment.

Infact, he hasn't had anyone like that in his life since forever, so he wasn't really keen on finding one, he was very much okay living like this.

With his simple and very normal everyday routine, he didn't need to add the stress of a relationship to it, he didn't think he had that luxury.

"Let's find a solution or an out to this marriage thing and then we can talk about me" he muttered trying to bypass it, she knew what he was trying to do but she just nodded, knowing she'd still bring it up sooner or later.

She knew he was very lonely and needed someone, not just anyone someone who would love and be there for him, even more than she was.

She knew the extent to which he loved her, and that was one of the reasons she wanted him to at least find someone who be there for him for when she was no longer with him.

He stood at the far end of the room watching and scrutinizing his men as each one of them was engaged in one activity or the other.

Some were training in hand to hand combat, others were weight lifting and a few were busy with the guns.

The huge room was full of different chatters and talks here and there.

He had come a long way from when he just took over as Capone years ago, he was only but a very young man that had just crossed his teenage years.

Barely 20 years old.

He could still remember vividly how it was like for him when he just took over, he didn't take over like every other Capone, his was a bit unorthodox, he had to kill his father for the spot.

At first a lot of people, especially people loyal to his father, they didn't think he was fit to lead them, they questioned his leadership due to his age.

But he showed them just how good of a leader he was, not in the nicest way but it worked nevertheless.

He knew what he had to sacrifice and put himself through to get to this point, they didn't just call him the devil for nothing, he was literally the devil.

"Spade" he heard Matteo's voice beside him, making him snap out of his thoughts and turning to look at the blonde, Matteo stood 3 inches shorter than him, so he was easily looking down at him.

"I did what you asked" he muttered before handing him an exact replica of the file he gave him the previous day "everything you requested has been added to it" he added looking at Spade who just nodded.

He brought out another brown envelope and handed it to Spade, he took the brown envelope, his eyes questioning Matteo.

"It's the information you wanted on Nathan Miller, that's everything we could get on him, apparently he's not really sociable, there was barely anything on him" he muttered making Spade look at the envelope again.

It didn't look like much but he was sure it held everything he wanted to know about the young man he met the previous day.

"So... You're still going through with it tomorrow"? Matteo asked looking at him and he just nodded, Spade has never been one to talk too much, he had always been a man of few words, it made him more dangerous, because the less he talked, the more he plotted and more action he carried out.

"Are you sure this is a good idea, asides the fact that you'll be married by tomorrow, what if they find out you tampered with the contract"? Matteo asked with a little bit of concern lacing his tone.

"They won't, and even if they do, Greg doesn't have a choice, he's already neck in deep into this to turn back now" he muttered before turning away from Matteo and facing his men again

"And you think his son, this Nathan guy is just gonna let you take half of what his father has worked for, for years"? He asked and Spade just let out a deep breath "remember he has been the CEO in the business for a while, his whole life is there, I don't think he's gonna just let his father sign it away to you" he added

"We'll see about that" Spade muttered his eyes drifting to the brown envelope again and back to the young man he met the previous day.

He didn't seem to pose a threat, but you can never be too sure.

Looks can be deceiving, and Spade had seen just enough to know that you can't just guess what people are capable of just by their appearances, especially someone with a face and look like that young man.

Like he told Matteo, they'd see if he was a threat or not.

Less than a day and he'd know what he was capable of.
