Chapter Thirty-Eight – Knox’s Engagement

Knox groaned at the sea of cars parked outside the mansion gates. How many people did Sean Davis invite? He didn’t want to be here amidst so many unknown guests. As if he was a puppet under their control.

Parking his car, he gingerly went towards the main door. At that moment, he just wanted to escape the ordeal and go away with Danielle to a faraway place where no one could ever find him.

The door flew open before he could press the doorbell. As if Kendall had been monitoring the surveillance cameras outside, waiting for his arrival. Well, anything was possible for the obsessed woman. Kendall stood at the door with her hands on her waist, clad in a sky-blue gown.

“You’re thirty minutes late, Knox. I was about to go to your apartment to get you. Dad is furious!” She snickered at his choice of tuxedo and it gave Knox immense satisfaction.

“I’m perfectly on time. It’s good to have everyone waiting for you.” He shrugged with a smirk as he brushed past her, leaving her seething with fu
