Xander’s movie selection wasn’t what I expected. Actually, he said it’s his brother’s collection and he likes everything, but they enjoy watching old school horror movies, whatever those are. I never really got to see many movies. In the coven we weren’t allowed and then it was only a couple of years before my parents were murdered. After Alpha Liam and Guardian Angel take Gwen to meet with the council, I turn to get ready to go to the middle grounds. “Hey, why didn’t you wait for me?” Xander says, catching up to me. “It seemed like you were busy. I have a moment to see what my mate would be like if she didn’t have the weight of the world and her family's survival on her shoulders. Watching her laughing with my sisters is the best thing I’ve seen in, well, maybe ever. Watching her actually let go of the stress that seems to constantly surround her, seeing what she would be like if she didn’t have to be so serious, I know I have to get her family back here, get them safe, so she can be this person all the time. I can feel the shift in the people at the pool. Everyone is looking at me, but no one is giving me mean, cruel looks. They mostly seem curious about how a witch has ended up being under the protection of two packs. Even I didn’t realize I had the protection of Xander’s pack. I thought my heart was going to stop when Maeve asked the twins about me finding my mate. When Quinn started to hint to Maeve that I was her mate, I had to threaten her with telling Emerson that she thought he was her mate.
