When I got into the house it was dark. I turned on the kitchen lights to see a note on the table, I went over to read it.

Dear Cat,

I am at a late interview and if all goes well, I most likely will not be home until nine or ten, they plan to give me a tour of the hospital and what my duties will be. There is a plate of food in the fridge that you can microwave and eat. If I get the job we will not have to move.

Love Mom.

Sure, Bert says he’s sorry, yeah right. He is probably not going to be happy if mom gets the job. I wonder why she didn’t just call my phone, she is so old school. But then again maybe she did, I was not exactly aware of things. I pulled my phone out of my pocket to see if she did. One miss call, most likely mom, I dialed the voice mail and listen.

“Hey it’s Bobby, give me a call after you’re done with Daniel,” Bobby laughed impishly, and hung up the phone.
