The morning sunlight had barely crept over the mountains when a knock came at my door.

“Lady Sylvara?” Talia’s soft voice called. “The Alpha wishes for you to come to the council chambers. Everyone has been summoned.”

I blinked, pulling my robe tighter around me, still sore and aching from the previous day. My body felt like it had been through a storm… muscles sore, bruises tender, and my mind still tangled from Kaelen’s presence in the hot spring.

“Why?” I muttered. My throat was dry, and I wasn’t ready to face anyone… especially the wolves of Velkorin.

Talia’s expression was unreadable, but her tone didn’t waver. “No idea, Alpha orders. You’d best not keep him waiting, Lady Sylvara.”

I gritted my teeth. “Fine,” I whispered, more to myself than anyone else.

The council chamber was massive, circular, lined with carved stone pillars and thick tapestries that carried the symbols of Velkorin. Pack of every rank were gathered inside.. guards, elders, and Kaelen’s harem. The air smelled o

The moment Kaelen’s command echoed across the arena… “Begin,” I said, and my muscles tensed. I felt every eye on me, every whisper from the crowd like tiny needles on my skin. My chest tightened. My heart slammed against my ribs like it wanted to escape. This was it. My first stage. My first real fight in front of all these wolves.Riven moved first. I didn’t have to see her to know her movements were precise, practiced, dangerous. I felt her energy as a pressure in the air, like she was already reading me before I could even react.I backed up instinctively, planting my feet firmly, trying to center myself. My hands shook slightly, but I clenched them, forcing my focus into every small movement. Don’t fall. Don’t be weak. Don’t let Kaelen see fear in you.Riven lunged at me suddenly. Fast. Too fast. I barely had time to react. My foot hit the ground hard as I spun out of the way, narrowly avoiding her strike. My stomach twisted as adrenaline surged through me.She’s fast, I though

After the speeches, the elders called all the omegas forward. My legs felt heavy as I stepped onto the training ground, the eyes of every wolf from far and wild lands burning into me. The chatter died down as Kaelen’s gaze swept over us, sharp and commanding.“Today,” he said, voice carrying easily over the arena, “you will face each other. Omega against omega. This is a test of skill, strength, and heart. Only the worthy will survive.”He began calling names. The first to step forward was Liora, a quick and cunning omega from the Nightfen pack, known for her sharp reflexes. Next was Tamsin, broad-shouldered and strong, her reputation for raw power preceding her. Then came Veyra, a strategist, small but deadly clever, always planning three moves ahead. After her, Kendra, ruthless and relentless, a wolf who never showed mercy and had left many opponents bruised and humiliated. Finally… Kaelen’s voice cut through the tension.“And last… Sylvara.”My stomach dropped. All eyes turned towa

Finally..The morning of the competition arrived with noise. So much noise.I woke before the sun had risen… not because I wanted to, but because the palace was already alive. Voices echoed through the halls. Footsteps rushed past my door. Even the air felt restless, buzzing like it knew something important was about to happen. The clans were arriving.I sat up slowly on my bed, my heart pounding. Today was the day Kaelen had warned us about. The day everyone would watch. Judge. Decide who was strong… and who wasn’t.I crossed the room and looked out the window. The palace grounds were crowded. Banners from different packs waved in the wind… deep reds, dark blues, silver, black. Wolves in fine armor and ceremonial clothes filled the courtyards. Some laughed loudly. Others stood quiet and proud. Every one of them looked powerful. Brave. Strong. And me..My stomach twisted. They had come from far and wild lands. Packs I had only heard stories about. Packs that would never accept a weak,

Four days.It had been four long, painful days since that dream.Four mornings of waking up before dawn, walking back onto the cold training ground, standing in the same place where Kaelen watched me with those sharp, judging eyes. And still… nothing. No wolf.No full shift. Not even a flicker. My body was exhausted. My muscles ached constantly, my hands rough and sore, my patience worn thin. Every time I closed my eyes and tried to reach for her… the wolf from my dream… it felt like grasping smoke. I could feel her there, just out of reach, like she was watching me struggle and waiting for something I didn’t understand.I slammed my fist against my thigh in frustration.“What am I doing wrong?” I whispered. The competition was tomorrow.Tomorrow.Wolves from far and wild clans would arrive. Strong omegas. Shifted omegas. Omegas who had grown up knowing their wolves, trusting them, fighting with them. And me?I was still standing here, human, powerless, shaking with anger and fear.Ka

By the time I reached my chambers, my legs felt heavy and my whole body throbbed. Every step reminded me of the training ground….. it was a battle that I would have to continue by morning.I pushed the door open.. slowly.Talia was already inside. She stood near the table, arranging plates of food neatly, as if she had been waiting for me. A soft smile crossed her face when she saw me.“You’re back,” she said gently.I nodded, suddenly tired in a way that went deeper than my bones. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”“The Alpha asked that you be taken care of,” she replied. “You needed to eat. And bathe.”I looked around the room. A tray of food sat on the table: warm bread, roasted meat, fruit, and a cup of steaming tea. I could hear the water gently moving. Steam curled into the air, carrying the faint scent of herbs. My chest tightened. She had drawn a bath for me. A real one. Hot. Inviting.Kaelen sure does know how to make me mad and pleased at the same time. “Thank you,” I said quie

Pain ripped through me…but not the kind I feared. This was worse. It was sharp. Burning. Intense.I gasped as something shifted inside me, like a door cracking open after being locked for too long. My vision blurred for a second, then.. Gold. The world turned gold.I staggered back, heart pounding, and lifted my hands slowly. My breath caught. My eyes… I could feel them glowing, heat pulsing behind them. And then it happened…A claw.Just one.It slid out from my fingers, black and sharp, trembling like it wasn’t sure if it should exist yet. I stared at it, chest rising fast.I did it.Not fully. Not completely. But I did it.A low chuckle brushed my mind.“That’s it,” Kaelen’s voice said, smooth and amused. “Just a taste. You always were dramatic, Bunny.”My head snapped up. I spun around, searching the empty ground.“Where are you?” I whispered.Look up.I lifted my gaze.He was standing on the roof of the training hall.Watching me.Arms crossed. Wind tugged at his dark hair. His
